Wacky scheduling quirk

White Sox have yet to play a team from the Wests (AL or NL)

Teoscar Hernandez just became the first Dodger in franchise history to hit a Grand Slam against the Yankees.

I am not sure where you got this from but I am not sure its accurate (or has more qualifiers on it) as NONE of the game stories mention it

I keep searching but I can't find any further info so I am not sure what you saw

Okay - the thing I found is that in the game where Teoscar hit the grand slam, Kike Hernandez also homered

Thus the Dodgers became the first team to have to players named Hernandez homer in the same game

Blame ESPN's stats department.  I was more giggling because where I went to watch the hockey game, the manager told me there were more Yankees fans than hockey fans (there were), and I came home to see the result. 🙂

I was more amused that all weekend long the folks covering the game (mainly the national folks) - seemed shocked that there were Dodgers fans in NY

Geez... can't imagine why

Should note, it came out late on Friday that loanDepot, the company that has the naming rights on the Marlins' park is basically broke.

They may be filing for Chapter 11 as soon as this week, but they're trying to figure stuff out.  Regardless, the Marlins may need a new sponsor for their park soon.

Twins are debuting their City Connect unis.

Those hats are pretty f'ing sweet.    (Plus apparently the brim has a topographic map of Lake Minnetonka, as a small tribute to Prince.)

Speaking of uniforms

The Orioles announced they signed a local marketing deal which includes a patch on their journey, and based on the fans reactions, you would have thought they murdered Cal Ripken Jr

I'm still mad the Yankees didn't nip this whole trend in the bud with a healthy dose of Fuck You We're The Yankees It's Beneath Us.

No names, no alternates, no patches, Because 27 Rings That's Why.

the "good" news is the A's don't have a sponsor patch or a city connect (lol) but in their case of course it's a cold comfort to remember why.

Quick look at Reddit shows fools don't know how to read. The patch does clash with the jersey a bit but I'm cool with it. Besides, in the end what matters is how the team is doing and they're doing pretty damn well.

They should city connect jerseys for Philadelphia and KC.

It looks awful on everything but the home white.

I'm not saying it doesn't but was being a bit nice when typing earlier.  But there were apparently rumors that this would lead to changing the Oriole Park name which would have actually annoyed me.  I'm not saying it won't one day happen but between changing the park name and slapping an ugly patch on the jersey I'll take the patch and some random ads around the park.

Just to clarify this - the Angelos had some sort of an agreement with this sponsor (T. Rowe Price) to in fact become the naming rights of Camden Yards (I haven't found the exact details of this part yet)

The new owner was all "Fuck that" and this was the solution as to avoid the fiasco that would come with renaming the park

Yeah, what Rippa said.  This is what happens when I try to respond while dealing with dumb shit at work.

So the tl;dr of all this is "Rubenstein rules, Angelos drools!"  Or something to that effect.  But really David has been great and the owner the O's absolutely needed all this time.  It's still way too early to tell how the season is going to be but there just seems to be something special going on around here.

Two baseball teams, each alike in dignity, in fair New York City, where we set our scene....

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
