He also accomplished his no-hitter on the fewest pitches ever. Trade for Verlander / pitch a no hitter greatest regular season day ever??

RIPPA
BTW - lost amongst the trades of yesterday - the Cubs DFAed Trey Mancini So he, along with the aforementioned Jean Segura, are probably the two biggest "names" to hit the FA market yesterday

So between Verlander and Scherzer, the Mets will pay about $90m to watch them pitch for someone else. Houston played Verlander as a free agent perfectly. Let him walk and get huge money. Get him back half a year later in the middle of a hot streak at a big pay discount. Beautiful.

Dolfan in NYC
Marlins completed a huge comeback yesterday, beating the Phillies 9-8 in the 12th. Josh Bell hit his first HR as a Marlin and Jazz scored three times. Absolutely nutso game where they were down 4 separate times and still pulled out the W. Holy hell is this a fun team to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsHHvf4kWxg&t=7s&ab_channel=MLB

It actually appears like he showed up to the clubhouse drunk on Tuesday Quote The incident that led to the Yankees placing pitcher Domingo German on the restricted list on Wednesday occurred at Yankee Stadium and was not a domestic situation, clubhouse sources say. On Tuesday evening of this week, German grew belligerent while in the clubhouse at Yankee Stadium, though there is no word of an altercation with a teammate or other individuals. Witnesses determined that German was under the influence of alcohol and did not appear in control of his emotions. https://sny.tv/articles/details-emerge-yankees-domingo-german-incident-martino
Cobra Commander
Meanwhile in other horrifying things with Rizzo and post concussion syndrome: Quote Anthony Rizzo said he noticed he was more tired, but attributed it to the grind of the season. He mentioned waking up feeling hungover, and occasionally forgot the numbers of outs. Testing showed his reaction time was slower. “I didn’t just forget how to do this all of a sudden.” https://twitter.com/bryanhoch/status/1687207531599507456

Cobra Commander
I mean, the Mets being held scoreless for 17 consecutive innings by the Royals wasn’t a great indicator for them either. But yeah, depending on your POV, the Mets were either mailing it in during games 2/3 or they just couldn’t break through in big spots. Meanwhile the Royals had some positive momentum for the first time this year after the walkoff grand slam and the walkoff balk. Meanwhile in NY, nobody can shut the fuck up the events leading up to Domingo German going to rehab. if the Rizzo and German news happened pre-deadline, would the Yankees have actually made an extra move or two
