Josh Mann Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Steve Young is unarguably the greatest Quarterback in league history... if the league is the USFL. NFL, there's a debate there. Then it becomes Steve Young v Jim Kelly. And both sides have a case.
Brian Fowler Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I also feel kind of bad about not listing Warren Moon....
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Oh good, DeAngelo coughs it up on the first drive. Gonna be a long night.
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I don't have stats up in front of me, but wouldn't Brees be somewhere in the conversation by now? He's been great a pretty long time by now. Put it this way, only going by people who played during the time I've been watching (1990ish-now) I'd certainly rather have him than Favre.
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 And Cam throws the pick. I'm gonna go pour another drink.
Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Young had way to short a prime to be the GOAT, but he's definitely up there. I'd probably have him in the lower half of the top ten. Eh, I think 8 years is enough. And he was still elite when he got KO'ed out of the league. And he was easily good enough to start (the second go-round) before he did. I can hear arguments for Brady, Manning, Elway, Montana or whoever but I don't think any of them had the full package that Young brought to the table. Brady & Manning couldn't run. Elway wasn't as accurate. Montana didn't have the arm strength. You know who's got a great argument? Aaron Rodgers, once he gets a couple more seasons under his belt. If Steve Young never gets out of Tampa Bay he is nothing more than a footnote. Which goes to show you Archie Manning might have been the best Manning of all time but he spent his whole career getting tossed around like a human pinata. A lot of what contributes to a QB's greatness is fate and teammates

He's been great a pretty long time by now. Put it this way, only going by people who played during the time I've been watching (1990ish-now) I'd certainly rather have him than Favre. Brees is, at best, the third best QB of his era. Favre is an odd case, because he has about 5 or 6 seasons that are absolute all-time great years, spread throughout his career, and the rest he ranges from "very good" to "slightly above average." But the combination of his peak (including 3 MVPs) and his longevity can't be dismissed.
Kuetsar Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Steve Young is unarguably the greatest Quarterback in league history... if the league is the USFL. NFL, there's a debate there. Hey Jim kelly played in the usfl too you know. . . EDIT; Didn't finish scanning the page. Not that guys like Kelly and Moon are necessarily better than Brady and Manning, but give them the same rules about passing and their numbers would be off the charts too. And that doesn't even cover Marino, Elway, Young or Montana. . .
E.J. Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 So yeah, Darren Sproles is having a hell of a year.

Niners Fan in CT Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 We have to always consider that the NFL is much different now. You breathe on the QB and its a penalty. You breathe on the receiver and its a penalty. Such a different game. I'm not really complaining as I'm all for safety but it's much easier to pad stats these days. QB's can really only be compared on tools and how they stacked up against their peers. 1
evilwaldo Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 It is funny how people thought that Kelly needed a mobile QB to run his offense when he came into the league.
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 This is really unpleasant to watch but I'm genuinely glad Sanchez is doing well. Seems like a good guy who's worst crime was playing for a shithouse organization. Also seriously considering bringing back the #fireronrivera hashtag. 1
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 24-7 and going for it on fourth. Stay classy, Philadelphia.
Cole Miner Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 You have to be kidding. It is only the 2nd quarter. From a spot where it is too long for a field goal but close enough to risk going for the 2 yards. 1
Kuetsar Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 24-7 and going for it on fourth. Stay classy, Philadelphia. Not that anyone is wishing it on them, but its that type of shit that tends to bring injuries down on them from the "football Gods'. . .
Niners Fan in CT Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Guys, it's not even halftime and 17 points isn't really that big of a lead. I don't understand the gripe. 2
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Gruden: "This is not the same Panthers team that won 12 games last season", Ya think, smart guy?
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Guys, it's not even halftime and 17 points isn't really that big of a lead. I don't understand the gripe. The gripe is that Philly is clearly dominating this game on all fronts, and there's no reason that you wouldn't play field position against a completely ineffective offense except that you lack class.
Death From Above Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Can we please have one prime time football game that isn't horrible?
Kuetsar Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Can we please have one prime time football game that isn't horrible? Mia-Buf might be decent this thurs. . . .
MADCAP Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Can we please have one prime time football game that isn't horrible? You kidding me? This is an early birthday present to me! This is how the eagles should be looking.
Vincey Greene Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 They really need to accept that Cam needs time off. He looks like Taker against Brock. 1

Chip knows that he has to have some big wins on the resume to impress the new playoff committee. He's in a weaker conference, so every point counts. 1
