Steve Young is unarguably the greatest Quarterback in league history... if the league is the USFL. NFL, there's a debate there.

Then it becomes Steve Young v Jim Kelly. And both sides have a case.

I don't have stats up in front of me, but wouldn't Brees be somewhere in the conversation by now? He's been great a pretty long time by now.

Put it this way, only going by people who played during the time I've been watching (1990ish-now) I'd certainly rather have him than Favre.

Young had way to short a prime to be the GOAT, but he's definitely up there. I'd probably have him in the lower half of the top ten.

Eh, I think 8 years is enough.  And he was still elite when he got KO'ed out of the league.  And he was easily good enough to start (the second go-round) before he did.

I can hear arguments for Brady, Manning, Elway, Montana or whoever but I don't think any of them had the full package that Young brought to the table.  Brady & Manning couldn't run.  Elway wasn't as accurate.  Montana didn't have the arm strength.

You know who's got a great argument?  Aaron Rodgers, once he gets a couple more seasons under his belt.

If Steve Young never gets out of Tampa Bay he is nothing more than a footnote.  Which goes to show you Archie Manning might have been the best Manning of all time but he spent his whole career getting tossed around like a human pinata.  A lot of what contributes to a QB's greatness is fate and teammates

Brees is, at best, the third best QB of his era.  Favre is an odd case, because he has about 5 or 6 seasons that are absolute all-time great years, spread throughout his career, and the rest he ranges from "very good" to "slightly above average."  But the combination of his peak (including 3 MVPs) and his longevity can't be dismissed.

Hey Jim kelly played in the usfl too you know. . . EDIT; Didn't finish scanning the page. Not that guys like Kelly and Moon are necessarily better than Brady and Manning, but give them the same rules about passing and their numbers would be off the charts too. And that doesn't even cover Marino, Elway, Young or Montana. . .

Considering that the era you speak of includes Brady, Manning, and Rodgers, I don't know that that fact keeps him out of the top 10.

We have to always consider that the NFL is much different now. You breathe on the QB and its a penalty. You breathe on the receiver and its a penalty. Such a different game. I'm not really complaining as I'm all for safety but it's much easier to pad stats these days. QB's can really only be compared on tools and how they stacked up against their peers.

This is really unpleasant to watch but I'm genuinely glad Sanchez is doing well. Seems like a good guy who's worst crime was playing for a shithouse organization.

Also seriously considering bringing back the #fireronrivera hashtag.

You have to be kidding. It is only the 2nd quarter. From a spot where it is too long for a field goal but close enough to risk going for the 2 yards.

24-7 and going for it on fourth. Stay classy, Philadelphia.

Not that anyone is wishing it on them, but its that type of shit that tends to bring injuries down on them from the "football Gods'. . .

Guys, it's not even halftime and 17 points isn't really that big of a lead. I don't understand the gripe.

The gripe is that Philly is clearly dominating this game on all fronts, and there's no reason that you wouldn't play field position against a completely ineffective offense except that you lack class.

Can we please have one prime time football game that isn't horrible?

You kidding me? This is an early birthday present to me! This is how the eagles should be looking.

Chip knows that he has to have some big wins on the resume to impress the new playoff committee. He's in a weaker conference, so every point counts.
