GuerrillaMonsoon Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 It's fucking stupid, and shows no appreciation for the nuances of the game. Ideally, it should be as simple as if a result is obtained within five days with no declarations made, no penalties should apply. If it's a draw with no weather-related circumstances, 9/10, penalties should apply for over rate issues, but also for the pitch as it's clearly not up to standard. Scoring rates these days, there's no reason for no result, outside of batsmen successfully parking the bus and playing for one. In which case, that's entertaining. 1

Maybe it's not "Hey, bowl as fast as you can" instead of "Play positive, result oriented cricket" that should be the focus,. 13 hours ago, GuerrillaMonsoon said: It's fucking stupid, and shows no appreciation for the nuances of the game. The Natural Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 You have to take Harry Brook to England's World Cup defense.
The Natural Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Canada's Danielle McGahey is set to become the first transgender cricketer to play in an official international match.

Malan or Roy, I suppose of the two, Roy. I would have liked to see Stokes make his 50 Over retirement stick, though. Edited September 1, 2023 by DangerMark

I wish Ben Stokes stuck to his retirement, what a way to go out winning the World Cup and the manner of.
DangerMark Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Not just that, he was too banged up to bowl in the Ashes and was originally planning on using the time off to heal up to lead the Test squad to India; but there's no big trophy for that one.
SirFozzie Posted September 2, 2023 Author Posted September 2, 2023 That Bairstow kid might still make something of himself, if he applies himself....
odessasteps Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 While scrolling through Game Pass, I saw there is a “cricket/ashes 24” game available. Might be a good way for us dumb Yanks to better understand the sport.
SirFozzie Posted September 2, 2023 Author Posted September 2, 2023 There's also the Cricket Captain series of games if you like managing. 2
GuerrillaMonsoon Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Brook over Roy would have been the right call for me but not the worst I can think of. Tanveer Singh looks the goods already. Be interesting to see if Australia try and rush him in as they're doing with David. 1
The Natural Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Ben Stokes goes Beast Mode in the third ODI vs. New Zealand scoring 182 off 124 - new highest score by an England batter in ODIs. England 368 all out.
SirFozzie Posted September 15, 2023 Author Posted September 15, 2023 England with a series win. Going to be a fun World Cup in a bit.
DangerMark Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Especially if certain Shane Warne cosplayers are going to put up historically awful bowling figures against South Africa. Any other nation, I might be worried for the World Cup, but all the good South Africans play for England. 1
Cleavy Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 at least Mick Lewis still (co)holds the record 1
The Natural Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 South Africa 428-5. Highest ever total in a men's ODI World Cup match with three centurions, also a record. Poor Srl Lanka.
DangerMark Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I like how we all collectively ignored the opener, good effort, lads. 2

DangerMark Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 There only needs to be Too Short Cricket and Too Long Cricket, anyway.
SirFozzie Posted October 7, 2023 Author Posted October 7, 2023 Seems like there's just an overload of tournaments and the like, I thought the new Zealand England game was a warmup match
SirFozzie Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 watched a bit of the ongoing England-Bangladesh game. England's rugby team could learn a lesson about what to do after coming off a poor performance. Agreed, it's Bangladesh, but BazBall seems to be back on the menu, boys!
SirFozzie Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 In other cricket news, it looks like there will be an Olympic T20 tournament in both the 2028 and 2032 olympic games (in Los Angeles and Brisbane Australia) https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-10-10/cricket-proposed-for-2028-los-angeles-olympics/102954760
Cleavy Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 maybe Steve Waugh's kid can avenge his dad's loss from the 1998 Commonwealth Games. 1
