Big news, as a US Rugby Union competition has been announced.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/34769880

No word on teams, but the announcement stated that the Northeast US, Rocky Mountains and California would be likely areas. Six US Teams will play next year, and Canadian sides will join the competition next year.

Combined with the London Irish-Saracens game in March, good time to be a US Rugby fan, even if the USA and Canada bombed in the World Cup.

Didn't see the USA, but Canada played some good rugby, and were unlucky to lose. Well, indiscipline hurt them, too, but the back row was solid, Hirayama was someone I wouldn't mind bringing on to try and break open a tight game, and Van der Merwe played like a genuine star, although he had signed for the Scarlets in the Pro12.

RIP Jonah Lomu

RIP Jonah Lomu, one of the best players ever.

So sad. R.I.P. Jonah Lomu. Thoughts out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

So, the Six Nations kicked off this weekend, and it's wide open.. mostly because none of the teams seem to be dominant.

England beat Scotland and France beat Italy, both as expected, but they were both close games, and Wales and Ireland drew. Can't say anyone really impressed.

Priestland plays much better with Young Jonathan Davies than Biggar does, so there's that. Biggar takes better drop goals. Still, he could probably use the week off. Given what happened the last time Wales played Ireland in the Six Nations in Dublin, I'll take that result.

Italy were structured and disciplined and everything English people like, and France were the most French team in years. Neither side could kick from the tee, and it led to a glorious match; and shades of Jamie Peacock with that last drop goal attempt.

so, assuming England beat Italy, looks like we have 3 Haves (England, France, Wales) and 3 Have Nots (Ireland, Italy, and Scotland).

Man, who thought Ireland would be 0-1-1 after two games?.. and how weird is it to classify Ireland as a Have-Not??

Something awesome happened, looks like ESPN3 will be streaming (live and on demand) the new Southern Hemisphere Super Rugby season, which kicked off this weekend with 18 teams, including teams from Argentina and Japan.

Anyone thinking of going to the London Irish-Sarachans match at Red Bull Arena should be aware tickets can be had for under $15 on StubHub. They grossly overpriced the tickets and now they are cutting prices and putting stuff on SH like crazy.

So England may have just about clinched the Six Nations with today's "holding on by their fingertips" victory with Wales.

France must beat Scotland, which isn't a guarantee..then beat England, and make up 58 points along the way.

Scotland beat France 29-18, giving England the Six Nations title.

Still something to play for next week, as England will try for the Grand Slam against France.

Two months later, the first set of Summer Internationals are in the book, and surprise surprise, England beat Australia, and Ireland get their first ever win in South Africa despite being down to 14 men for over half the game. New Zealand trailed Wales at halftime but stormed back to win

Five months later, what a game between Ireland and New Zealand and the Barbarians vs South Africa at Wembley (let's not mention what the Maori All Blacks did to the USA)
