Fat Spanish Waiter Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 This is pure laziness: Send me your best classic Motown-esque music so I can add to my shameful music collection. Here's a couple to help start things off. The Bar Kays - Soul Finger Sam and Dave - Hold On, I'm Coming
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted August 10, 2013 Author Posted August 10, 2013 Also I will be ranking the entrants, so it is a proper BATTLE.
piranesi Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 /Thread Also this: I know these are white chicks from Queens. But this song is fucking awesome. All songs should end with a spoken monolog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDHHm1mKZks I feel like somehow it should be playing in a David Lynch movie I haven't seen yet. Similar rough sounding mixes: Yeah. I have a type.

stiffshots Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I first heard this on a ROCK station (the late great WNEW-FM out of NYC). Noisy, discordant, and funky as fuck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39SjyMvBbk4 Northern Soul with a mile-wide groove. Thanks to Little Steven's Underground Garage for introducing me to this track.
Ace Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I've been on a Throwback Soul kick as of late, which a couple of sweet NY record labels like Daptone & Truth & Soul have been putting out. Lee Fields has been recording for 40 years, having to push through constant comparison to James Brown (People STILL call him Lil' JB). His last album was my favorite of 2012. Sharon Jones was gonna be releasing a new album this month, but had to do treatments for bile duct cancer (S1, so they caught it early), so it's been delayed until January. Charles Bradley making Nirvana funky. 1
