E3 2014.

MK plays better than it looks. I had the same feeling about MK9 pre-release.

But yeah MK9 doesn't get to exist without Street Fighter 4 shooting life back into fighting games.

I dunno. I've come away from E3 still feeling pretty good about the idea of not buying a console. Bloodborne kind of has my attention, but I haven't gotten any decent progress into Dark Souls 2 yet so I can hold off.

I am getting a 3DS, but I'm getting it for Tomodachi Life because my friends are idiots, the Korg synthesizer, and maybe Monster Hunter 4.

Kinda with you on this: the games haven't caught up with the technology yet to me, and, in a bigger black mark, it just seems like they are repeating the same exact shit I did on the last gen, just a touch prettier. I was left more excited for Indy game stuff then the big games save a couple.

I've watched a few of the trailers afterwards (been at work all day yesterday) and there are very few that excited me enough to want to play/get them. LittleBigPlanet 3, Sunset Overdrive, and Ori & The Blind Forest excite me....just not enough to get a Xbox One or to get LBP3 on day 1. I would want to play Sunset Overdrive because it actually looks like fun and like the next generation in Ratchet & Clank gameplay but with multiplayer too that may work.

I'm pretty much disgusted with Microsoft. This is their chance to show something completely new and different that defines the Xbox One (much like Halo defined the OG Xbox and Gears defined Xbox 360). Instead, they are re-releasing Halo 1 - 4 for Xbox One -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but with Halo 2's campaign, it was broken at the start.

Sony really didn't have to do anything to win (or not lose). I realize that it is very early in the current gen to make any judgments but both companies need to switch things up. Having more realism isn't the answer -- having better gameplay is.

And I think it's over for The Last Guardian and Agent. They are never coming out. Also, Mortal Kombat X, R6 Siege (I still want Patriots damnit!) and Rise of the Tomb Raider don't excite me one bit.

Dude, those were masterpieces. That's pretty much like saying, "Why don't wrestlers just be as good as Ric Flair?" Those things don't come around often.

And obviously this console cycle isn't as much of a drastic step-up as other console cycles have been, so those days of being knocked on your ass like Halo and Gears did are pretty much through. But Microsoft did exactly the opposite of what they did last year: they showed games wall-to-wall. Just games, games, games. I'm sorry more of them didn't appeal to your tastes.

Sunset Overdrive sounds fucking awesome. And this mode makes me wish Rippa, J.T., and El Dragon would get X-Bones.

Clearly you didn't read any of my posts in this thread

I guess I shouldn't be that hard on them and you're right -- none of them appealed to my tastes.

But neither did Sony's games either. I guess I'm going to be playing PS3/360 games for a long time with the occasional PS4 game (like Destiny, LBP3 and Uncharted 4) thrown in.

I hope Sony can clean up the social nature of their console (including putting decent headsets in most gamer's hands like X-Box ships with) before all these awesome looking co-op games come out. Example: Destiny seems to have more content on PS4, but co-op is a major part of the game. And in my experience, hardly anyone uses voice chat on PSN. That is honestly a big reason why I was always more of an X-Box guy. Playing online on Playstation just feels so dead.
