  1. Past hour
  2. Looking at Bryant Anderson’s CageMatch and found a Bryant Anderson/Tully Blanchard tag team for a NWA Dallas taping which is a team that probably doesn’t respect 1987 JCP storylines But yeah, I can see reasons why Bryant might have decided quickly that he didn’t really have a future in the WWF/WCW and that he should bow out of Smoky in 3 months. Now the alternate universe where Bryant Anderson goes to 1995 ECW and we get Ole on the mic would have been weird. But I guess if traveling to Knoxville was too much, Bryant wasn’t gonna be going to Philly.
  3. I thought I saw someone say on Twitter there was going to be a future episode of Barnett. Just an hour of people doing their impressions.
  4. The new Wolverine series https://comicbookmovie.com/comics/marvel-comics/wolverine-logan-embraces-his-inner-berserker-this-fall-in-new-marvel-comics-ongoing-series-a210864
  5. Would Watts have had the money to get that time slot? He was on WTBS during this time and was drawing ratings. Also, you gotta remember that this was a valuable-ish timeslot so there is a real reason to not want an albatross there. I’m guessing the number of Saturday Night episodes abbreviated by Atlanta Braves games increased once the Braves stopped playing in the NL West and had more 7pm Eastern starts. But until then I’d think that if no wrestling show could claim that spot from Vince, TBS would have rather aired live sports or movies on that spot
  6. This episode just makes me wish we could channel Jim Barnett's spirit somehow and get him to do a whole special. The stories that Barnett could tell, whew.
  7. This weekend, at my 28th cubing competition, I set a senior (50+) North American record for single solve in 4x4 becoming the first North American senior to get an official solve under 1 minute (59.79 seconds). This kinda came out of nowhere and is my first record. To say I'm stoked about it would be a big understatement.
  8. Nintendo World Championships: NES™ Edition for the Switch https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/nintendo-world-championships-nes-edition-switch/
  9. They are so similar that Ole would prob hate being compared to him.
  10. So the person that I thought was Ole Anderson was actually Bob Roop. Not sure if he would find that insulting or not I guess we got another great What If on this show because what would have happened if Crockett and I guess Turner just let WWF in Georgia die a horrible death and didn't give Vince a million dollars to get the time slot back. I guess it really depends on how much of that money went to Wrestlemania 1. Plus to be honest I am sure Turner would have given Vince a million dollars a month into the disaster much less a year.
  11. I was listening to Jerry Jarrett on the Brisco pod and he was talking about how Eddie Graham was like a dad to him and yet, Eddie stopped talking to him because Jerry said Jack Brsisco was not unbeatable in a shoot.
  12. I noticed that, too! It looks like the other set of belts is the original AEW trios belts that were used before the custom Acclaimed belts.
  13. St. Vincent is really good. Understated but good. And Melissa Mccarthy is really good.
  14. Asa a long time member (late 90's) but rare poster I always looked forward to the wit and wisdom Dean brought to these forums as we talked about the best thing in the world. The world is a little darker place without Dean in it. May he rest in peace.
  15. He'll go unpunished for it but he was trying for the mother of all elbows when he yeeted himself into the boards. Dirty as all heck.
  16. This one song, no idea by whom, sounded a lot like Zydeco, so that was okay by me.
  17. Today
  18. At Walmart we got a dose of "'70s and disco" so basically nothing but Bee-Gees and "We Are Family" and shit for a whole day. Ugh.
  19. Forgot to mention one of the neatest parts: Bill Watts' letter to Ole. The kid is like "he just took all the shit on his desk and wiped it off right into a box" and right there is the Cowboy getting literate about the death of the territories. It'd be worth a small piece of anatomy to get to sift through all that stuff for the gems you'd find. It also makes you wonder about the real friendships, or at least close levels of trust, that some of these guys might've had and who actually liked who. The wrestling business didn't have a lot of friends back then, but Watts and Ole were probably more alike than most, and had the same thing happen to them, so they could bond over it like that, even if it was just a letter.
  20. No lunchtime classic rock playlist today, as the chain restaurant is playing “modern country” instead.
  21. This is last week's stuff, but did I see Jay White (and the rest of of Gang Bang Gang) come out with THREE different titles, not just the ROH and AEW Trios Titles? Did my eyes deceive me, or what have I missed?
  22. I dunno, given that Ole's angle was "you're getting robbed", and his probable talent for getting his point over in that respect, those cheapskates were probably bound to turn on the old gay dude that held the purse strings. But revenge is a dish best served cold as he found out. I don't recall Jerry having much of anything to say about Barnett so I wonder just what his opinion was about him. NO SHIT!!! Wow. He not only looked like his dad but SPOKE like his dad. It was uncanny. You could close your eyes and see Ole talking. This was pretty engaging to me because I didn't know anything about it really, a total blind spot in my historical knowledge. Probably the lowest thing Vince did during the whole thing was giving all the locals their walking papers. That was unfair. Guess he didn't really need them if he's just airing his own material, but at least give them a check or something to let them land on their feet, you're a fucking millionaire after all. Instead it was just a kick out into the cold. He even offered Ole a job, but the little people? Screwed like always.
  23. If you were making a random create-a-wrestler, it would have probably look like Putski at that point of his career. Probably means with only that, he's one of those random faces in the terrible battle royales from the WCW World War III PPVs to get thrown out off camera. In WWF in 1997, they put him in the same division as TAKA (better than him by leaps and bounds), Brian Christopher (better than him), Tajiri (better than him also by leaps and bounds), and other guys who made random appearances like ultra indy-riffic Devon Storm and then career journeyman Jerry Lynn. He is no better than number 6 in a division WWF didn't put a lot of effort into. I just remembered Scott Taylor so he is easily bumped down to 7. For a guy who looks like a star, you cannot be that low.
  24. I beat Rise of the Ronin a week or so ago, with 100% completion, and they gave me a refreshed map with scaled-up enemies in response. I played a little, but nah, I think I'm good for now. The combat was excellent, and I dug the weird "based on true history" story with Commodore Perry (who was dead IRL at the time the story takes place) and Robert Fortune and everyone else randomly showing up and befriending you. It's worth playing, especially if, like me, you absolutely loved Ghost of Tsushima. It was a good Tsushima mimic that prevented me from instead 100% completing Tsushima for a third time. Princess Peach: Showtime! is a bad game and Good Feel is a bad developer, IMO. Of their games, I actually loved Yoshi's Crafted World, which is about a hundred times better than Woolly World, but it was a fluke and Nintendo should stop giving them projects. They won't because the Peach game sold over a million already, but man. The hitboxes in that Peach game are so weird. One day, they'll give Peach a starring role in a game that is actually good, I just know it. One day. On a side note, is her full name Peach Toadstool? Or is she Princess Peach of the Toadstool House? I downloaded Dave the Diver on PS5, and I kind of enjoy it, but the game immediately starts piling stuff on you at the beginning of the game in a very gated, somewhat long tutorial, so I've been slow about going back to it. I go off and on with playing Vampire Survivors, but the free DLC got me back to trying to finish each level with every character. The Operation Guns DLC is out tomorrow, which I am absolutely purchasing. I'm thrilled that it has release date parity on Switch this time around, too. 2024 hasn't been bad for games, and I'm looking forward to the TTYD remake next month, but I sure hope Hades 2 gets out of early access and onto my Switch or PS5 by the end of this year. I think the Nintendo Direct and PS Showcase will give me at least one full-priced game apiece that I decide to purchase at launch later this year. I unlocked a couple of WWF WrestleMania 2000 characters that I hadn't unlocked on this cart that I've had for years, but I really need to go back to Perfect Dark soon and finally beat it. I've beaten GoldenEye across all levels a billion times as a teen, but I don't think I've ever beaten Perfect Dark. I really have to reconfigure my brain to play this thing with a single analog stick. Microsoft needs to hurry up and port Rare Replay everywhere so I can maybe just play it that way. There is just not enough time for writing and reading and work and travel and video games.
  25. For whatever the reason, I always liked Scott Putski in his brief and unfortunate WWF run and the subsequent WCW run. Obviously, I liked his physique and remember him doing a huracanrana in a match, back when you didn't see it in every single match on TV.
  26. I feel like someone could make a bunch of money on the indies with a "Bluey's Dad" gimmick right now.
