LOL, Vancouver finally makes a change and it's shitbum city, bb.

Honestly watching Edmonton fuck up so often on "stuff that isn't McDavid and Draisaitl", and seeing how the other western Canadian teams handle their business, I've really gained a lot of respect for the work Bryan Murray did in Ottawa when he had to deal with Melnyk's bullshit regularly. It's actually astonishing how good the Senators were under his watch. We've got way easier setups out here and just keep airballing it.

The city of Glendale is owed approximately $250,000 in unpaid taxes, per a letter from city manager Kevin Phelps to Arizona CEO and team president Xavier Gutierrez sent on Wednesday. The rest of the balance is owed directly to the state. The contents of the letter were first reported by The Athletic and confirmed by ESPN.

"We have already launched an investigation to determine how this could have happened and the initial indications are that it appears to be the result of an unfortunate human error,'' the Coyotes said in a statement Wednesday night.

"Regardless, we deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused. We will make sure by tomorrow morning, the Arizona Coyotes are current on all of our bills and owe no state or local taxes whatsoever. And we will take immediate steps to ensure nothing like this can ever possibly happen again.''

Sure sure human error

After a supremely horrible road trip, Detroit was back home Tuesday night against the Islanders and enjoyed a solid 2-1 win.  Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond both had points.  It's amazing how fast Seider has just taken over on the blueline for Detroit.  10 minutes into his first game, it was obvious he was good.  A week later, it was really obvious he was the best defenseman on the team.  A third of the way into the season it's now obvious he's head-and-shoulders above every other defenseman on the team.  He is EASILY the best defenseman Detroit has had since #5 retired.  Does a million little things the right way, just like #5 used to do.  After what seems like a billion years of waiting, it's great to see some Detroit prospects that are actually GOOD and not just interchangeable fourth-line grinders.

He's probably right. He's been here 6 years and the team has been really underperforming this year. The invested a lot on the D and it's still bad, the penalty kill is atrocious, they have a bad shooting percentage for a team with players like Connor, Ehlers, Schiefele, etc. That conference final run was amazing, but that was 4 years ago now.

Hopefully next year brings a wholesale coaching staff change, Charlie Huddy needs to go, the defence has been trash for years.

The has suspended all games that would have required cross border travel through Dec 23

The NHL and NHLPA have been in constant communication over the past several days. Both sides view a full schedule pause as a last resort, and are hopeful they will be able to avoid it, sources tell ESPN. However Olympic participation for NHL players is now in serious jeopardy; the NHL is scheduled to take a three-week break to allow players to go to Beijing in February.

The NHL has a Jan. 10 deadline to opt out of the Olympics without financial penalty. The league said on Sunday that it will announce an Olympic decision in the coming days. League sources tell ESPN that it is "highly unlikely" that NHL players will go to the Olympics now, as the NHL schedule has been materially impacted by COVID-19.

Pre-tournament games for the World Juniors were supposed to start today in Alberta, but have been pushed to the 23rd (tournament proper starts on the 26th). I haven't heard if any teams are even in Canada yet. Could see the tournament getting scrapped altogether or maybe they do a last minute bubble. They moved last year's tournament into a bubble in Edmonton, this year's is in Edmonton, so that's probably the only way it is happening again.
