odessasteps Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Don Cherry is trending on Twitter again. I'll just preserve brain cells and assume whatever he said is worthy of ending up here instead of looking for video. He is wearing a stars and stripes outfit. #bizarroland
odessasteps Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Horcoff suspended for violating sub abuse policy.
Death From Above Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Horcoff statement via NHLPA https://twitter.com/seangentille/status/692056371181674496 It's so rare to see an athlete say "I did it and that was my fault" so I take this at face value, for now.
DouglasC Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I guess fans (or in this case, the player's older brother) qualify for this: https://twitter.com/HockeyWebCast/status/699298065438679040
Dewar Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Evander Kane got too drunk at an NBA All-Star Game after-party, misses practice on Monday, and gets to sit out Tuesday's game for Buffalo.
odessasteps Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Evander Kane got too drunk at an NBA All-Star Game after-party, misses practice on Monday, and gets to sit out Tuesday's game for Buffalo. And snapchatted it to boot
odessasteps Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 A guy was arrested for throwing an octopus on the ice. in Boston.
Death From Above Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 How Detroit has never been fined, or had to start a home game with a penalty due to that embarrassing awful caveman animal sacrifice to the Gods bullshit, when their own staff are so clearly in on both promoting it and letting it occur, is beyond all explanation. The worst tradition in sports. More gross than Glasgow Rangers songs about made up child abuse. 3
muhammedboehm Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I thought when the nhl put in the rule about stuff being tossed on the ice two things got grandfathered as ok. one was hats (for hat tricks) and octopi in Det
Tabe Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I'm pretty sure that's correct. I do believe Detroit can get fined if their staff wave the octopus or stuff like that.
DouglasC Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 We need two sepatrate topics in this. One for guys named Kane, one for everyone else.
Dewar Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/17124875/buffalo-sabres-forward-evander-kane-arrested-june-incident Evander Kane accused of choking a woman in a nightclub.
sabremike Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 The worst thing about the Kane thing are the people saying he is getting heat because of his race. No, he's getting heat because he is a recidivist blockhead who seems to have a knack for finding trouble. He's being hit with relatively minor charges and I hope he learns from it because if he doesn't odds are he will get in trouble again for something more serious.
Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Dont worry he will be playing in Las Vegas soon and he will be fine in that environment 1
Jerome Miller Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/jets-bobby-hull-hall-fame-debate-1.3698139 So the Jets' decision to induct Bobby "Woman Puncher" Hull into their HOF has backfired horribly.

Without Bobby Hull does the WHA get off the ground? Without Bobby Hull do the Jets survive? Without Bobby Hull does the NHL ever come to Winnipeg? I think it's very likely the answer is "no". He's being inducted into a Jets HOF, not a Husbands HOF. If we start using non hockey behavior as a standard where do we stop? Do we pull down Potvin's #5 and kick him out of the Isles HOF? Do we refuse to honor Ray Bourque for DWI? Do we demand the Sabres pull the banner down for Tim Horton?

I don't have the numbers but it would not shock me if more people are killed by drunk driving than domestic violence. Point being that DWI isn't some frivolous offense.
sabremike Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Also while on the subject I thought it was an embarrassment that ROR was our nominee for the Masterson this season.
Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Thing was Joanne Hull was no shrinking violet herself. The story got around and was well publicized that she got into a screaming match with Bobby Hull after he signed the Winnipeg deal saying ,"why would you want to live in Winnipeg and play for that fat Jew." Of course the fat Jew in question was within ear shot of that

Listening to a bunch of CBC programming talk about the Hull controversy via my local NPR affiliate, there are apparently a lot of Canadian reporters and fans who would say yes to all of those examples. A lot of (most) Americans don't realize just how progressive Canada really is. The Cleveland Browns are getting ready to unveil a statue of Jim Brown, and in Cleveland everyone will go "he's the greatest NFL player who ever lived" while in Canada there would be a thousand 'think pieces' going "Why are we building a statue for a guy who spent time in jail for throwing his girlfriend off of a balcony."

Buy Me a Burrito Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Because she likes the best young defense in the league? 2
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 7, 2016 Author Posted September 7, 2016 John Tortorella has said he'll bench any player who doesn't stand during the National Anthem during the World Cup this month.
