I mean, Hurt Syndicate fucking rules, but an angle where FTR is presented as their kryptonite because of what incredible tag wrestlers they are would rule. Like, Dax and Cash would have no chance against Lash and Shelty in singles matches, but their continuity and chemistry is so good that they're able to overcome the obvious advantages the Syndicate have. Plus, then you'd get some interaction between MVP and Big Stoke, which would fuck hard...

Now having finished GAB '86 - Charlotte I can speak about it a little more in depth. Another great crowd, don't know the attendance but it looked packed out and they were LOUD throughout. I won't go through every single match but it's an awesome show pretty much top to bottom. Would you say this is peak Crockett here? I don't get tired of the blading in every match because these are matches they have a ton of build to them. They should be violent. I don't know if it's the best match on the card but my favorite match is that Ron Garvin vs. Tully Blanchard 'Taped Fists Match' which was incredibly fun and brutal. J.J. had some hilarious moments being the cornerman here for Tully. Garvin continues his hot streak in my household. This was awesome and the crowd was insane. Crowd was unglued for Valiant as well, I spoke on this earlier. Continuing with fans going nuclear on heels, Bubba is outside the ring laying it in to Dusty and catches a FULL drink to the face. Police just stood around like "Hey, come on guys, back to your seats." Lol. I cracked a smile when Flair put on Morton's protective mask. Flair and Morton's chemistry is out of this world. Great show. - Yesterday

I think the another reason for Garvin's failure was that immediately after Garvin won it, they announced that they signed the rematch for Starrcade, and that Garvin would not defend it until then. That made the title a non-draw at a time when they were trying to run in new areas they weren't strong in, like California and NYC. At the same time, JCP had just bought the UWF, and they just ignored Doc as the champ and had him working midcard bouts. If they wanted to keep Garvin and Flair apart, why not run Doc/Garvin or Doc/Flair UWF title matches around the horn? -
Was just going to mention the draft.

The only time you'd likely see someone dressed as a sexy dentist outside of Halloween. -
They knew and didn't care. It's not so much that there's a big crossover audience but I imagine hotels being booked and other things like traffic are issues that are also going to hamper the WWE show.

Pretty sure he was like an unofficial indie talent scout for AEW in the early days and it’s no surprise. Dude lives and breathes the independent scene, for better or worse. I wonder what he thinks of GCW cozying up to WWE so hard this past year. Also I was watching the JCW show that’s streaming on YouTube, and… please can we get 1 Called Manders? He’s fucking awesome.

Yeah it's sad. The women deserve better than being the throw away show on a weekend of counter programming. Also didn't they know they were up against a Beyonce concert across the street when they booked the venue?

Bret Hart vs Brad Armstrong feels like it would have been a good 6 minute match on Thunder.. in theory, could Bret's Russian Legsweep be countered by Brad into Brad's Russian Legsweep -
I'm rewatching parts of the Ozzy/Sabbath farewell show. I'm up to the Steven Tyler appearance and man does he sound good. Just a shame he can't do a full on out tour anymore. Halestorm delivered a really great version of Ozzy's "Perry Mason". It always surprises me how Lzzy Hale doesn't blowout her voice on some of the notes she does. Yesterday in the live chat people on the back to the beginning website people were shitting all over Axl's vocals. I thought he did well on Never Say Die. He picked a couple of hard songs to do in his limited range. Ozzy sounded good in both sets which was a plus.

Okay - apparently both Rizzo and Martinez had options for 2026 that had to be picked up by mid July Obviously it was decided that there weren't getting picked up and they didnt want either of them lame ducking the rest of the season (especially Rizzo) EDIT - ESPECIALLY when the team has the number one pick in the draft next week
-
Legit stunned it happened Like what the fuck changed in the two weeks that Davey through the entire team under the bus outside of the team still being shitty
-
I thought that Rizzo could bullshit his way out of a couple more seasons and just give the managers all the blame. A good GM and manager can't solve the perception of the Nationals being just a cheap organization
-
People knew about the Sleaze thread 20 years in advance?

Nationals making the move to fire their GM and Manager two days after Independence Day

Interesting addendum I just learned: Rob Reiner claims they had written the Stonehenge joke years before the movie and had filmed it in 1982, while the Sabbath album with Stonehenge and subsequent tour with the prop didn't happen until 1983. Which would make this just about the craziest coincidence.

Can someone explain to me why the Boogie Woogie Man was getting Austin pops in '86? This isn't a criticism I just haven't seen enough I guess to understand it -

Vince was probably more likely to remember the name Thurman from Thurman Munson.. no wrestlers in the WWF/WWE named Catfish though -

Problem is WWF already had multiple Ivans whether it was someone like Putski or Koloff. In that era, he was giving people "unique" names like Thurman and Waylon. Unless it's Thurman Thomas or Waylon Jennings, I don't recall multiple people having those first names. Anyway, it was based on a Heenan joke so Vince probably that I. Yankem was enough. -
