  1. Today
  2. I dunno if the Derby (or any of the Triple Crown races) is where people go to dress crazy. Yes, the big hats are a thing. However, usually it's nothing that looks wild for attending horse racing. Now the Met Gala especially since they have different theme every year, that seems like it's right up Seth's alley. It's for folks who believe themselves to be fashion mavens, but also may have escaped the local insane asylum. If it didn't happen on a Monday every year and the WWE folks were slightly bigger celebs, that would be some pub that the WWE usually doesn't get.
  3. Obligatory Harold Hill/Lyle Langley reference.
  4. Hey, here's the missing cover from that comp! It's Nasum doing "Tools of the Trade". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krthZP_Yn9Q&pp=ygUYbmFzdW0gdG9vbHMgb2YgdGhlIHRyYWRl Also, here's that Type O grind covers comp if anyone's interested. https://783punx.bandcamp.com/album/v-a-blast-no-1-blastbeat-tribute-to-type-o-negative My antipathy to Steele's band is enormous (Carnivore far less so, but they still draw my ire some) but this looks interestingly bizarre. Hellbastard are pretty legendary; the only other bands I've heard of are Assur and Plague Bearer. The very concept of a grind band playing a seven minute song is pretty fucking out-there.
  5. https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3810581/flesh-of-the-gods-kristen-stewart-oscar-isaac-starring-in-80s-vampire-movie-from-panos-cosmatos/ Well now, THIS looks promising...
  6. People have been dressing ridiculously at the Derby forever. Good for them for taking it a little crazier. He looks like a million bucks and he's about to con a town into starting a boy's band.
  7. FWIW I've seen people whose wrestling opinions I respect a great deal (glances towards segunda caida) mention how the over the top crowd response took away from Ospreay/Danielson as well, so I'd say that latter bit is up for debate.
  8. Somebody needs to send Dustin a link to some Mid-Atlantic episodes on Youtube or something. Maybe the Houston footage.
  9. I will simply copy what Meltzer wrote (emphasis mine): - Regarding the Drew Gulak situation after yesterday's press conference with Paul Levesque, technically his contract is expiring and not being renewed as opposed to firing but that's largely word semantics. The Ronda Rousey story is the reason he stopped being used and wasn't going to be brought back, but with him gone, we're told the stories surfacing are accurate as less experienced talent had not been comfortable talking about a veteran on the roster. So it seems less that someone was keeping a tally but that after the Rousey thing came out a lot of younger wrestlers who weren't comfortable talking about him for fear of not being believed/possible repercussions were willing to talk about it now that he was being looked into. Based on all I know of how shit like this usually goes (I'm not talking just wrestling but... well everywhere more or less) I find that to be a very believable course of events.
  10. The items don't matter. My reaction was, "oh cool, I get shit to start the game with" and then within 30 minutes never used it again.
  11. Zen announced that PinballFX will drop the GaaS aspects; you have til August to buy coins and til December to spend them; the Pinball Pass will end after that. They also said that there will only be one Williams pack this year, and it'll be "end of year" and have 3 tables (no word on which they are)
  12. Mance is one of those wrestlers where if they were just 10% better they could do some big/good things but sadly they just aren't.
  13. Appears to a soap opera spoof. No memory.
  14. It’s Your Move starring Jason Bateman was on Wednesdays at 9:30 after Facts of Life, it was cancelled in early 1985 so it wasn’t getting any kind of ratings. There was a show Grand that got a 15 rating purely by getting the golden timeslot on Thursday nights between Cheers and LA Law, I don’t remeber it at all and like most of America I was watching NBC from 8 to 9:30 on Thursdays, used to watch it from 8 to 10 but they moved Night Court to Wednesdays a few years before.
  15. Movies today.... Inside The Yellow Cocoon Shell (on Kanopy, rented it for 72 hours) War Dogs (Hulu, leaving this week) Kid-Thing (Mubi, leaving next week) Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (saw at the theater) The Conjuring (Max, leaving this week) Ape (Mubi, leaving next week)
  16. Yeah, "The Heart Part 6" just wasn't it. Real big grasping at straws energy. Kendrick said he was tired of being nice and would stop Monday. Interested to jump online after work tomorrow.
  17. Both companies need to review the whole idea of “post game press conferences” as they seem to do more harm than good for their promotions.
  18. Best news of the day DC to publish JLGL DC Style Guide
  19. Didn't AJPW's Brute Issei retire because Minoru Suzuki took a liking to bullying him and intentionally seperated his shoulder in a match?
  20. Drake just dropped a response, but, ehhh, people don't seem to be fucking with it, and it's kinda mid, tbh. Claims he fed Kendrick false info, but you think you would have been ready to hit back with that right after Meet the Grahams if that was the truth, and claims he's 'too famous' to be a pedophile as if there literally isn't mounds of proof that it takes forever for rich and famous sexual predators to get got. Big 'I'm getting my ass beat but I'm gonna try and act like I won and walk away' energy. Waiting on the next Kendrick track.
  21. It might be, but I didn’t even remember it and it was a top ten show. I don’t know if there are shows from that NBC Thursday era that were in the top 10/20 show: was that show with Jason Bateman on Thursdays? Joey bombed but that’s like a decade later.
  22. A real bummer for Martinez, who I hoped would be able to rise to the occasion. He was going with his leg kicks in the first, Aldo checked one and Martinez didn't go back to it again until sometime in the 3rd. I don't think that's necessarily because of the check, but because it became apparent that Aldo was too fast and had figured out his timing. I knew it was going to be a tough night because I don't think Aldo has looked bad in any of his fights at this weight. He lost steam against Merab and people thought that was age, but now we know everyone loses steam against Merab because he is fucking inhuman. I think Aldo fights at least once more. They were trying to get Cruz and I think that fight still makes sense for a big show later this year. How about UNDEFEATED ANTHONY SMITH?! That shit killed me.
  23. https://www.hackensackriverkeeper.org/donate-1 I'm participating in World Series of Birding again next Saturday. Support appreciated.
  24. I am not going too much on the Tom Brady live roast on Netflix tonight (mostly cause it might be on the wrong thread) but I don't think Tom Brady gets the concept of a roast done by Jeffery Ross.
  25. Nemeth would be a great addition to the G1 if schedule/politics allow. The only real negative has been the lack of heat to his matches but I base that more due to the crowds just not being familiar with him. Also would love to see him mix it up with more New Japan guys - was really looking forward to the tag with Tana vs SANADA & Taichi until injuries and other changes happened.
