dragonzombie
We will have to see about Shibata's announcement, could just be his men in a match at WK with Shibata. Wonder next year they get rid of WTL, and revert to using any other previous tag league from NJPW's past? Edited December 13, 2021 by D.Z

dragonzombie
Reading the recent awards stuff and the Tenryu/Shingo Dragon/Dragon meeting days ago and other stuff, Shingo's style is "playing professional wrestling that conveys pain and power". Watching the Tenryu vs Onita no ropes exploding barbed wire match got Shingo into Pro Wrestling. From 2015
dragonzombie
Muto said something close to "Pro-wrestling is not just about physical strength and youth ... it's art." Mutoh represents the last of the old slower (more psychology) not so strike exchangey pro wrestling of Japan.

dragonzombie
Chono and Kobashi proposed reforming the Tokyo Sports Pro Wrestling Awards. So additional women's division categories, open selection etc. The WWE expanding women wrestling over the years and Stardoms growth are some of the reasons why for expanding women categories. So best bout for women, women's MVP and some other category. Open selection will allow people to see how and why everyone does the selections, even put how on youtube. Minimum standard of matches for men to win, which would be 30 plus matches instead of the older bigger number. And something for men if they only did less than 30 matches or games a year as well.

Thinking he's cleared to wrestle again and his first match in five years will be at Wrestle Kingdom. I really hope he isn't stupid doing shoot headbutts again. Had my way, those would be banned with the diving headbutt and the Reverse Rana/Poison Rana. Katsuyori Shibata announced his imminent in-ring return for night one of Wrestle Kingdom 16 on January 4 in the Tokyo Dome. Shibata made the announcement just before intermission at today's Best of the Super Juniors and World Tag League finals show in Sumo Hall. No opponent has been announced. Shibata's announcement was one of the selling points of today's event, but The Wrestler kept it short and sweet. While fighting back tears, he simply stated that he will have a match on January 4. The announcement coming at Sumo Hall was symbolic. Shibata's last official match came in the same building against Kazuchika Okada in April 2017. Shibata suffered a subdural hematoma in the match and was forced to retire as a result. Shibata appeared at the G1 finals that same year in the same building, walked to the ring, took a flat-back bump and declared "I am still alive!" Shibata returned to the ring at this year's G1 Climax finals in October, facing Zack Sabre Jr. in a five-minute UWF rules exhibition match. The exhibition was mostly an exchange of holds and grappling, with Shibata not taking bumps.
The Natural
Never thought Katsuyori Shibata would ever wrestle again. The five minute UWF rules exhibition match with Zack Sabre Jr out of nowhere in October surprised everyone.

dragonzombie
Hiromu Takahashi won the 2021 Best of the Super Juniors, longest finals in history of BOSJ finals. Hiromu's aim is to main event one of the WK domes next year. So really under the one of main events as below, double main event. Something else about being the protagonist or leading role of NJPW's 50th year. But the translation is wonky. Fixed he means leading Junior Role again. Lot of longest matches records set in NJPW this year: Longest Wrestle Kingdom match ever, longest NEVER Championship match, longest IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match, longest IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship match ever and now longest BOTSJ Finals as well. Less is more. Be cool to see an IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship match as a double main event. Edited December 15, 2021 by The Natural

A.M.B.
Has there been an update on crowds being able to cheer? Edited December 16, 2021 by A.M.B.
dragonzombie
Hiromu wants NJPW to open up the junior division, so other wrestlers from different promotions in Japan and worldwide can participate. Also do the "Junior All-Star League" in the 50th anniversary year. He wants Dragon Lee to wrestle for it. I would like to see AJPW juniors in it. So the isolation walls of NJPW will further breakdown next year.

At the very least NJPW has kept their policies in place about no cheering at events. At least that's the info they are including on their site if you want to buy tickets for upcoming shows. They may restart autograph sessions in some venues. Edited December 16, 2021 by lostinube

dragonzombie
AJP news Zeus wants to rebuild Osaka Pro as the best org and that it will line up with AJP. Koji wants to do something else in life, and will suspend himself from wrestling for awhile. He could come back to AJP, but I doubt it. Yuma defeated Nomura, and was nice to Nomura after the match and wants Nomura to return to the ring someday and us..... Nomura wants to try different things, he will back in the ring someday. Probably not the AJP ring...
