He came into the league as a very good defender and now it feels like he's putting his energy into offense and taking it pretty easy on the defensive end. With his speed, agility, strength, and long arms, he should be a great defender. He's got a great mind for basketball too. His awareness on the offensive end and vision is very good. Conley isn't the defender he used to be, so they're not getting perimeter defending right now and Murray is feasting. As good as Clarkson is offensively, he doesn't put up much fight defensively. This is concerning. Niang has really impressed. He's not super quick by any means but he's a great shooter and does enough defensively most of the time. It's probably at least partially having more and more of the offense fall on his shoulders. Take it easy on defense so he can last the whole game on offense (as opposed to Giannis playing all out on defense but having a low minutes per game to keep him fresh) But he needs to be at least somewhat better, so that he doesn't hurt the team as much. It felt like something not of this era where it's two elite scorers of both inside and outside game going at each other like that, trading buckets, and playing mind games. Mitchell went 9 of 13 from 3 and here I am thinking he "didn't do enough in the end." Like what? Had 44 points and Conley got 21 but it drops off after that.
