pipGofern
Stan Lee got his moment in the Memorium segment. Listed him as “comic book writer, executive producer” though. I would’ve gone with “cameo artist.”
piranesi
I can't believe a scene from RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD just played at the Oscars. It also insured that at least one actor from ALIEN FROM L.A. (Thom Matthews) has appeared on the Oscars before they were dead. This is the magic of James Karen. Brian Fowler
Bohemian Rhapsody is getting a lot of trophies for being a really mediocre movie.
Craig H
If Rami actually sang those songs, I would be fine with this, but having seen most of the actors nominated, he wasn't near as good as Christian Bale or Cooper or Viggo.

Niners Fan in CT
I didn't think all these W's from the Globes would carry over for Bohemian Rhapsody but here we are... I don't get it. He was at least pretty good though.
Brian Fowler
Cooper is definitely better. To be honest, Green Book looks so incredibly terrible (and had gotten such bad reviews from critics I trust) I'm not sure I'll ever watch it.

AxB
Black Panther won best costumes, best production design and best original soundtrack. Seems about right. If there had been a best cast category (for casting directors, like) it would have been in with a shout there too. At least @The Natural will be happy with the Best Animated feature winner when he wakes up. It's 4am in England.
Craig H
BR is one of the more unremarkable musician biopics I've seen and Rami is good, but not that good. Shit, why wasn't O'Shea Jackson Jr. nominated? Ugh.

piranesi
So next year this time Elton? Personally I cant wait til we get to Be Bop Deluxe. Ellar Coltrane will play Bill Nelson.

Like, it wasn't a waste of time, but it's not that good of a movie. But the fucking academy loves themselves a biopic about musicians. Seriously, what a poor choice. piranesi
In that scene from The Wife Christian Slater had one line "Yes." And having to say it next to Glenn Close saying things he managed to fuck it up.

It was notably poorly edited at points) but four awards with a shot still at the big one? Eesh

Then again, we watched both it and Vice yesterday and Vice was awesome. Scary too. Olivia's speech was great.
Niners Fan in CT
I haven't seen Vice yet but Bale in every clip I've seen looks to be fucking killing it as Cheney and the rest of the cast looks awesome too
Craig H
He did indeed fucking kill it playing Dick Cheney. He's every bit as scary as the real guy.
Craig H
Actually, the weirdest nomination from Vice was Sam Rockwell. He wasn't in it that much and I thought Steve Carrell was better in playing Donald Rumsfeld.
