Fat Spanish Waiter
I love guys like Ron Perlman and Colm Meaney, but let's be realistic. Who are the all time greatest actors? I'm gonna throw DiCaprio in there to start things off. He's great when he's just being a guy in a movie (The Departed), but when he's set up to own a movie, like Gatsby or Django, he just absorbs everyone into the supernova. Ace
Daniel Day-Lewis obviously deserves consideration.
Niners Fan in CT
Robert De Niro has been on autopilot for much of the last decade plus but his highs are extremely high.. super catalogue.
Fat Spanish Waiter
Never liked Day Lewis, fuck him. I think it's because he always does the most awfully pretentious movies. Anyway, De Niro is a boss shout, which of course gives us Pacino and Brando. What about Johnny Depp?
JRGoldman
Paul Newman is pretty king sized in a lot of stuff.
Niners Fan in CT
Depp is in a ton of weird shit. Some of it is awesome and other stuff I'm left with a Krusty "what the hell was that?" expression. In terms of all-time actors I think he's in a second or third tier, honestly. I doubt I'd have him in a top 25 list.
Fat Spanish Waiter
It's weird because stuff like Blow and Donnie Brasco and the like make you think he's a dead cert. But the last non-Pirates decade has been brutal.
Brian Fowler
He was mentioned, but Brando is my #1 with a bullet. DDL is fucking amazing. Humphrey Bogart. On the female side of the equation, Dame Judi Dench immediately springs to mind.
Brian Fowler
And now I'm immediately mad at myself for not mentioning Denzel Washington.

Niners Fan in CT
Tom Hanks. I had to watch Saving Mr. Banks just because I knew he'd be awesome. He always is. I know some on here hate Forrest Gump but even if I threw that out.. his catalogue is spectacular. Edit: Flight was way better than it had any right to be and that's because Denzel is king. Fat Spanish Waiter
Hanks is... I don't know. I like him and he's good and everything but I just don't feel like he's there yet.
Brian Fowler
Tom Hanks is incredibly great at being the most likable dude. I wish there was more in his catalog like Road to Perdition though. More variety in his performances. Forest Gump is boilerplate, but there's nothing wrong with his work in it.
Bustronaut
Lon Chaney Sr., John, Ethel & Lionel Barrymore, Karl Malden, Paul Robeson, Wallace Beery, Tony Randall, Jack Lemmon, Robert Downey Jr., Boris Karloff, Benicio Del Toro, Walter Matthau
Fat Spanish Waiter
Shit I still haven't seen Perdition. I feel like it's been on the list for a decade.

RDJ is basically a faster talking Arnold, BDT is no good.
Niners Fan in CT
The funniest thing is someone trying to recreate Forrest Gump with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I can't believe that was nominated for Best Picture. Pitt is good and the visual effects and make up are top notch but I expected so much more out of it. We left going... "what.. that's it?!". I really thought it would be amazing. So disappointing.
Bustronaut
I had no idea "all-time" meant since 1977. Downey pre-Iron Man is an amazing actor, inhabiting all his roles.
Elsalvajeloco
Struggling to think of a bad Denzel movie. I didn't really like Book of Eli. I blame Mila Kunis. Since ATG is subjective, I'll just list every great actor I can think of. Meaney is like Clancy Brown. Will never be the head guy in any movie but such an outstanding actor. Depp and Pacino were so awesome in Donnie Brasco. Both have been up or down for me since then. Giancarlo Esposito has done a lot of shitty movies (ie that Carlito's Way prequel and other throwaway B-movies), but he transforms for every role. Getting my favorite European/Australian guys out of the way: Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Oldman, Idris Elba, David Oyelowo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tom Hardy, Alan Rickman, Ciaran Hinds, John Hurt, Geoffrey Rush I'll throw in William Hurt and Liev Schreiber. Michael Shannon is super intense in everything. Brando and De Niro is obvious, but a good portion of the supporting role people from the first two Godfather movies: John Marley, Lee Strasberg, GD Spradlin, John Cazale, and Sterling Hayden just to mention a few. Adolph Caesar and Calvin Lockhart basically paved the way for Denzel so they are on my list too.
