Peak Everton, 2-0 up at Goodison Park vs. Bournemouth in the Premier League and lose 2-3.

49:58: 1-0

56:09: 2-0

86:36 2-1

91:14: 2-2

95:37: 2-3

Everton were leading by 2+ goals until the 87th minute – the latest a team has ever been 2+ goals ahead in a game they’ve gone on to lose in Premier League history.

10 goals conceded in 3 games for Everton. Nil pois in the Premier League to use a Eurovision Song Contest reference.

File under "Life Comes at you fast:"

Two seasons ago, Victor Osimhen scored 26 goals and led Napoli to an unbelievable Serie A title

December 23: Signs updated contract extending him through 2026, with release clause set at 130 million Euros

January 24: Napoli announces they expect him to leave at the end of the season

Today: Gets left out of Napoli's squad for the Serie A season (through at least January)

First Old Firm Derby and I don't want to say it's been one sided, but the commentators have spent 80 minutes building up Celtic like they are prime Barcelona and Rangers are well, prime shite.

(at least for Rangers, they're pretty on-target)

edit: 500 appearances for James Forrest for Celtic. Just wow, in these days where someone playing three seasons for a team can be considered a legend 😉

Alex Morgan has announced her retirement from professional soccer

This is partially due to her announcing that she is pregnant with her 2nd child

She will play in one more game (which is this Sunday)

Bolivia played against (and beat) Venezuela yesterday in El Alto, at an altitude of about 4.150 m / 13.500 ft. That's just insane, the human body needs at least a week to acclimate to that altitude, probably more. That's not even considering that due to reduced air pressure, the ball is probably behaving differently than at sealevel (in tennis even 1.000 m / 3.300 ft have a noticable impact on the trajectory of the ball, not sure how big the impact in football is compared to that).

Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forrest in the Premier League. First time Forrest have won there since 1969. Nobody saw that coming.

Manchester City 2-1 Brentford in the PL. Brentford score after 1 minute. Haaland the equaliser and winner. 9 PL goals in 4 games. Guy's a freak. Manchester City lucky to have him. Congratulations, Pete.

Aston Villa 1-2 Everton at half time.

It's now 3-2 Aston Villa!

Make that 13 in 4.

For the first time in 65 years and for the first time ever in the Premier League, Everton have lost their opening four league games of a single season.

Going to be hard to top for Goal of the Season.

Leo Messi finally came back from rolling his ankle during the CA Final last night.

He clearly decided that Suarez had far too large a lead in scoring, so he got 2 goals and an assist leading the Herons to a 3-1 win over Philadelphia
