That's probably because none of the big names got injured, but they still have a few days left for someone to roll an ankle or something.

This is a better card than some PPVs this year

This is the official debut event of anything for FS1, isn't it? And the prelims are on the same station?

Yep. Apparently, it's a five hour card on FS1 with ten fights.

Yeah I think I had the speed channel.  I think it's located up in the uninhabited regions of channels on DirecTV right before you get to the stupid music channels in the 9000's.

And why they putting my man Ovince on Facebook?

He might have a chance to be in the main event depending on what happens tomorrow.

On Thursday, a closed-door session of the Massachusetts State Boxing Commission – spurred by a union complaint – will determine whether UFC fighter Chael Sonnen receives a license to fight at UFC Fight Night 26 next week.

A representative for the state's Department of Public Safety, which oversees the commission, said that following a complaint from a New York-based union, the commission elected to hold the meeting to determine whether Sonnen is appropriately using testosterone replacement therapy.

"The commissioners will sit in and they'll hammer out the issue," DPS spokesman Terrel Harris today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "When they've made a final decision, they'll let everybody know what that decision was. Bottom line is that they have to do it relatively soon, because the fight's a week from Saturday."

Someone is being a dick. Way to wait a week before the goddamn fight.

Specifically the Culinary Union. Because they demand the Fertitta hotels in Vegas go union. Have they ever asked what the employees of the Fertitta hotels think?

I haven't read the article and I didn't even think the Culinary Union would have been the culprit because I thought their sphere of influence didn't extend outside of New York. Whoever thought a freaking Culinary Union would wield so much power to potentially screw up cards and prevent UFC from entering New York state.

LOL, UnfitForChildren.org...Get the fuck outta here. With this, and the Deadspin article, I feel like we've gone back in time.

Is unfitforchildren run by the Parent Television Council (or what ever that group that went after the WWE in the late 90's) One of there 'stories' is about the Marines caving to public out cries and not renewing there sponsorship deal with the UFC but the article doesn't mention the budget law that prevents the military from spending money on sports sponsorship.

Looks like it is run by Unite Here.  So protecting children really has nothing to do with this nonsense.

And Unite Here represents the Culinary Workers Union or as they're known to them: Unite Here local 226

Trying to set the event to record on my TiVo, but TWCNY still has the channel as Speed and the event not being broadcast on it or any other channel. Nor do they list the channel on their web site. Anyone else having similar difficulties?

It is still unclear whether Cox Communications in my area will get FS1.  We have Speed, but apparently Fox is asking cable providers for new fees to get the channel.

OH jeez:

http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2013/08/12/Media/FS1-Carriage.aspx

Just five days before the launch of FS1, Fox Sports still has yet to cut deals with at least three of the four biggest distributors: DirecTV, Dish Network and Time Warner Cable. The three distributors said they are still in discussions with Fox to carry the channel, which launches Saturday. Distributors that do not cut a deal for FS1 by Saturday will continue to carry Speed, though it will be a stripped down version of the motorsports channel. Fox Sports provided the Tribune listings service with the programming lineup for Speed for the first nine days after FS1's launch, and it features a mix of re-runs and paid programming. In the week after FS1 launches, Speed will open primetime at 8:00pm ET with shows like "Faster Than," "Car Science" and "Pumped." The 9:00pm hour has shows like "Drag Race High," "Stuntbusters" and "Wrecked." The 10:00pm hour has shows like "Pinks," "Speedmakers" and "Hard Parts." Primetime for Aug. 17, when FS1 launches, will feature re-airs of "Pumped," "Wrecked" and "Hard Parts." Fox Sports has little reason to make Speed a high-quality channel after Aug. 17, since it wants distributors to agree to take the more expensive FS1. Distributors pay around $0.23 per subscriber per month for Speed, according to figures from SNL Kagan. Fox is seeking $0.80 per subscriber per month for FS1 initially -- a rate that would increase to around $1.50 toward the end of the multiyear carriage deals it is seeking.
