EricG
Tony Stewart's extracurricular activities caught up to him last night in Iowa as he broke his leg last night running a sprint car race. I can't fault a racer for racing, but I'm guessing his sponsors won't be too happy when someone like Brad Sweet, Regan Smith or Dave Blaney fill in the next month or two because Stewart couldn't find a better way to spend his free time. You'd think two Sprint Car deaths in the last month would deter him. Not to mention his fringe shot at a championship this year is now gone. Death From Above
Too bad. Having watched NASCAR for a few seasons now Stewart is probably my favourite driver they've got. Time without him makes them less entertaining.

I'm thinking it may be after the beginning of next season before he's back (it was a bad break).
EricG
Silly season has (sort of) begun. Montoya won't be returning to EGR. Two major open rides for next year: #42 (EGR - Newman or Kyle Larson) #29 (RCR - probably Newman, Dillon, or Kurt Busch) Brian Vickers to the #55 full-time next year. Rev Ray
Atlanta stuff: Bobby LaBonte broke some ribs riding a bicycle, will miss this weekend's race. Allmendinger is supposed to race the 47. Martin Truex has broken wrist, but will race on Sunday. Mark Martin is running the 14 for the injured Tony Stewart. Silly Season: Kurt Busch is signed to Stewart-Haas in it's 4th car. So a line up of Stewart, Harvick, Kurt and Danica. Somebody call Dr. Shelby.
EricG
Burton will not return to the #31 next year (in addition to Kevin Harvick leaving for Stewart-Haas), leaving the only currently signed cup-level RCR driver as Paul Menard. Ewwww. Ryan Newman rumored to take over the #31 (one of the few open rides left), with Austin Dillon probably moving up to a RCR team using the (GASP!) #3. Rev Ray
Crazy race for the last spots in the Chase. In: Edwards Johnson Kenseth Kyle Busch Harvick Earnhardt Kurt Busch Logano BIffle Bowyer wild Card: Kahne Truex (by a tie breaker over Newman) Gordon finishes 11th in points by 1 point and with no wins was eliminated. Rev Ray
- RCR has signed Ryan Newman to drive the 31. - After the late race spin by Clint Bowyer and the 55 apparently pitting late to give up spots to the 56, there was a lot of people claiming shennanigans on Saturday night. Nascar did an investigation and they have penalized MWR 50 points each team. And a fine of $300K. This eliminates Martin Truex from the chase and put Ryan Newman back in. Rev Ray
Well, more shennanigans investigated, Penske apparently made a late race deal to allow Logano to pass Fornt Row Motorsports David Gilliland. Because that may have knocked Gordon out of the chase, they'll now included him in the chase. Now there are 13 drivers.
Travis Sheldon
Maybe tomorrow they'll take away the win from Carl Edwards for passing Menard before the line.
Rev Ray
In the fallout of the MWR Richmond penalties, NAPA has said they're leaving MWR at the end of the season after just having reupped for 3 years. Word is that 5 hr energy is evaluating the situation and Aaron's has said they will continue to sponsor the team. Now there's questions if they'll have a primary sponsor for next year and if Truex is going to stick around. Juan Pablo-Montoya is supposed to go to Penske's IndyCar team. Rev Ray
Jayski mentioned that Truex and his crew have signed to Furniture Row and the 78. There is talk that NAPA may stay with Truex. MWR will be a two car team next year. Ken Schrader has said he is going to retire after the Homestead race.
