  1. Well it was changed after the fall of the USSR. . . To be more precise the current Russian anthem has the same music as the USSR one, they only changed the text (from 1990 to 2000 they had a different one, that had no text at all).
  2. In the end he turned out to be The Great White Hype, if anybody remembers that movie.
  3. Apparently the Austrian team went partying pretty hard before their game against Slovenia: http://www.khl.hr/en/international-hockey/exclusive-from-sochi-drinking-problems-cost-austria-quarters
  4. There are even hills where the best can jump up to 250 meters.
  5. I only saw one or two runs before having to leave for work this morning but I would guess that slopestyle has the problem that many of the newer sports of these games have: their is hardly any depth of athletes as there are hardly any people on the world competing in them. For example there was an Austrian freestyle skier who would have qualified for the games because she managed to place twice in the top twenty of world cup events. The problem? Both times there were less than twenty competitors. Therefore I have problems taking most freestyle skiing and snowboarding events really serious.
  6. There was a real long shot in the end that Alfonso Cuarón would be proud of. To have something like the last ten minutes in a tv series (HBO or not) is just crazy.
  7. Downhill skiing is dangerous but not that dangerous. The last fatality was, I think, 18 years ago. As a comparison in 2012 there were two fatilities in freestyle skiing. Not to talk about motorsports... Ski jumping might also look stupid and there are bad injuries happening from time to time but casulties are a really rare thing. In 2008 a young German died and after that you have to go back 30 years to get a fatality.
  8. There were two great reasons to do so.
  9. I am sure this episode read funny on paper, but yeah, what ended up on screen was hardly funny at all.
  10. The way the UFC handles individual sponsorships (i.e. the company has to pay UFC 6 figures a year or so) probably scares a lot of companies of.
  11. I agree that the first episode of this season was bit of a mess but I really liked the second episode. The crime part was a bit of an afterthought but the comedic stuff worked greated, I thought and I have no problems with them doing a full-fledged comedy-episode.
  12. I bought me this game for Christmas and must see it is insane how huge this game is, how much different things there are to do, though I haven't played really heavy until now (put about 25 hours or so into it and have about 33% completion ratio). Yesterday I tried to ride a dune buggy up to the mountain top but crashed into a tree halfway up. As I could not get up onto the thing anymore I just ran up to the top by foot. It took my ten minutes but due to the beauty of the landscape I did not feel bored at all (the fact that I was attact by three cougars did help, of course).
  13. 1. ROBBIE LAWLER (American Top Team) Bouts: W-TKO1 (KNEE AND PUNCHES) vs. JOSH KOSCHECK (UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche, February 23, 2013) W-KO2 (HEADKICK AND PUNCH) vs. BOBBY VOELKER (UFC on Fox 8: Johnson vs. Moraga, July 27, 2013) W-DEC3 (SPLIT) vs. RORY MACDONALD (UFC 167: St. Pierre vs. Hendricks, November 16, 2013) Lawler was coming from Strikeforce having a 3-5 record there with a 1-3 in his last three bouts (coming of a loss against Lorenz Larkin). I would suppose most people (including me) thought that by the end of 2013 he would be gone from UFC losing twice or so due to being over the hill. Instead he knocked out former contender Josh Koscheck and upset highly groomed Rory MacDonald which puts him into a fight for the vacant Welterweight title (agains Jonny Hendricks).
  14. Oh, then the babyface walked away to start a new life - after previously offering to turn himself into the FBI if they allowed him to make the meeting. Again, never mind that this all seemingly hangs all his friends out to dry. Jane might be the most unlikeable dick babyface since face Sheamus, U I think it's a classic case of writing yourself into a corner and having no satisfactory way of resolving the stuff that was build up. Just like the last season of Lost. They had three different ways to go with the Red John resolution: a) use a regular; probably would have been full of plot holes and making no sense whatsoever b) use a new character (or one that appeared only once before this seasons like happened here); problem is that it would feel "wrong" (why build up a whodunnit for five years and solve it being a new character) c) use a semi-regular, problems are bit of (a) and (b) So there was no good solution. At least the guy who ended up being Red John appeared several times this season and was sold as one of the final seven suspects. At least they recognized this problem and don't use the revealing of the identity of Red John as series or even season finale.
  15. and "akai kona" means "red corner"; the first phrase probably means something like "for one fall" (ippon = full point)
  16. I am very close to giving up on this. Yesterday's episode was not only pretty boring but full of shitty, shitty writing. The whole "Fitz has the hots for Skye but when Simmons is in danger he finally realizes that he really cares for her" thing was so contreived. I mean it was obvious that it would happen sooner or later, but the execution was not good at all. Then there was the "we are flying from the east coast to western Africa and therefore cannot land anywhere for the next three hours". I mean the Azores are basically at the halfway point for starters. And if they continue doing stuff like the alien virus the show will become Fringe with a comic book theme instead of pseudo-science, minus John Noble.
  17. If the main event peaked that means that people didn't turn-off in masses during the show which at least was a possiblity for such a long show.
  18. I know that DA2 was not received as well as Origins and I could probably get it for something like 15 € or so online, but 20 € is below a threshold where if I end up not liking a game I don't feel I wasted any money.
  19. I am currently going through (i.e. finishing) some games I bought in the last years. I finished Arkham Asylum a week ago and currently playing Uncharted 2. Still on the stack are Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Red Dead Redemption. I was in a game store today and had to choose between GTA V (55 €), Assassin's Creed IV (60 €), Dragon Age II (20 €) and Uncharted 3 (20 €). I chose the last two games and will probably get the other two in a year or so when they are available for 30 € or so.
  20. So Dory is playing a zombie for Halloween this year?
  21. Furthermore Dean ripped the whole set and put it online.
  22. Considering what the judges had to work with it was probably a draw with Boetsch winning the second round. There is no way that he won the first round when Dollaway took him apart. That said considering how balatant the first eye poke (accidental my ass) was that should have either been a DQ win for Boetsch or at least two points deduction for Dollaway.
  23. No talk about the greatest goal in history? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KwptCFcX7I
  24. As someone working in software development (even if it's only on a very small scale) I am actually astonished how good gaming developers have become in meeting deadlines and delivering halfway decent quality.
  25. Looks like some copy+paste error. I died a bit inside seeing The Game beeting Falling Down.
