  1. Kashin and Ohtani had a better than it should have been IWGP Jr. title match,. It was during that period where Ohtani just suddenly became "meh" for a year and Kashin really brought his boots to work that day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaZmi8BvwZ4 James
  2. After reading everything I could about Heaven's Gate and decided to try and watch it last night. Netflix has the 219 minute cut up. I'm 90 minutes in and so far the only thing that has happened is Kristofferson slapping the fuck out of Sam Waterston. Otherwise I'm bored to tears. I'll finish it up tonight and hope it picks up. I will say some of the visuals are just beautiful. James
  3. I still say that Traitor storyline for X-Men should have had Rogue be the traitor. If you consider when she joined the team, having Rogue as Mastermind's "Ace In The Hole" made perfect sense. Hypnotize her to join the X-Men (as well as Mystique, thus explaining the weird dreams she was having during the "From The Ashes" arc). I just seemed so perfect that eventually his programming would wear off and Rogue would betray the X-Men and become one of their ultimate foes. Instead she ends up being one of the worst written characters in comics for 30 years. James
  4. I'm pretty sure I remain the only person I know that bought EVERY issue of Crystar: Saga of The Crystal Warrior. More importantly I I'm positive that I'm the only person that actually STILL likes it!
  5. My God, this is the BEST thread this Board has ever had! I mean of any incarnation of the board~! God, I love THE GAMBLER~! It also led to me finding THIS~! James
  6. I love that HIAC match. It pretty much solidified Brock as the IT Guy. He went from being The Vanilla Gorilla to King Fuckin Kong! James
  7. I think you'd have pull out some Andre in the NWA or Andre in Japan matches to find something like that. Maybe Andre wrestled Chavo Guerrero at some point... I dunno James
  8. For "My Cousin Vinny"? I think she was considered a longshot to win it but I think it was the one movie most people had at least seen that year. I think of the actresses that got nominated that year the only one I had seen besides "My Cousin Vinny" was "Howard's End" James
  9. I was afeared for the Tajador emblem... then realized it really is wee compared to some things on the board James
  10. People are always going to rip on Shatner but if you watch Wrath of Kahn he just plays Kirk as a man struggling with his on mortality so well. The secene where he goes to read the book and his bifocals are shattered, the look on his face is the definition of "Pyrrhic Victory". Hell even the eulogy he gives for Spock is pretty powerful and the death scene itself is one of the few movie moments that made me cry. James
  11. Loved the finish of the tag title match. The Sendai Sisters have come so far! James
  12. Didn't Shibata leave because he didn't get along with Choshu, who was booker at the time? I remember reading that while Choshu was willing to push Tanahashi and Nakamura he wasn't willing to move Shibata up the card with them (thus killing the whole point of the Next Gen Musketeers gimmick that had been built up) James
  13. There is Final Fantasy IX and then there is everything else! James
  14. You ca nget sucked into Attack On Titan very easily, even if you realize how overly melodramatic it is and FML... Gatchaman CROWDS isn't awful, its just it has the Gatchaman name on something that deserves its own name James
  15. Lion In Winter is probably in my all time top 10 and O'Toole is not to be fucked with in it! The fact he played Henry II twice in film and that he rocked each time is awesome! James
  16. and here I thought Cena was beating up on Bio-Armor Lyger! James
  17. So after a decade away, I recently decided to get back in the SCA. With my local group having Yule Feast this weekend I worked wit han old friend on some new medieval style garb... James
  18. I really had hoped DC would've let Ennis do a Sgt. Rock project with Joe Kubert, but alas that ship has sailed. James
  19. The Boys sis FAR superior to Preacher. I love preacher but it definitely dives into parodying itself after "War In The Sun". The Boys is satire throughout and the dropoff in story quality doesn't quite drop off the way Preacher did. James
  20. Isn't there an epic Houston/Fit Finlay match as well? James
  21. Tokyo Sports Awards for Pro-Wrestling are out... Okada is your wrestler of the year! ~ Best Match of the Year Award… Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kota Ibushi, NJPW G1 CLIMAX 2012, 8/2/2013 in Osaka, Japan. ~ Best Tag Award… "TMDK" Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste [NOAH] ~ Distinguished Service Award… KENTA [NOAH] ~ Fighting Spirit Award… Daisuke Sekimoto [bJW] ~ Technical Award… Masato Yoshino [DRAGON GATE] ~ Newcomer Award… Konosuke Takeshita [DDT] ~ Joshi Pro-Wrestling Award… Meiko Satomura [sendai] ~ Lifetime Achievement Award… Kenta Kobashi James
  22. Are you kidding me? Vince telling me who he thought shot JFK is appointment television! James
  23. Terry Gordy was KING when it came to selling the Superkick. The thing about the Superkick early on was, he'd miss his mark with it when he really started using it a a finisher but the time around the time of Gino's death he really had the damn over as a killer move and would usually get a guy clean on the chin, or at least on a body partthat would later become a focal point of selling during a match. There is a na early Adams match, with his buzzed head against Gordy where he Gordy's arm. Its a botch as you can tell Adams didn't have the reach on or timing down yet but Gordy sold it like his arm went numb for a few seconds and ten adams worked the arm. Later in the match Adams hits the Superkick clean on Gordy's chin and Gordy takes an over the top bump as only Gordy can James
  24. I was secretly hoping they'd get Hannah Simone. For some reason I think she'd make a swell Diana James
