  1. Past hour
  2. Meanwhile, on LVL Up: Tavion Heights d. Jasper Troy (debuting) - Troy has a bit of a Dijak / early SHIELD vibe to how he carries himself, and unlike some of the bigger NXT guys I can think of, he works big. "He says that every day is tax season, will Tavion Heights pay up?" - I have no idea why this is being said by the announcers. Was he once an accountant? Tavion does a good job getting thrown around a bit before winning with a big belly to belly. There was a fair bit of air on some of Troy's stuff (swinging missed clothesline, you know the one) but this was ok. Brinley Reece & Layla Diggs (debuting) d. Carlee Bright & Kendal Grey - Diggs is a former track and field athlete and, like Reese, personal trainer. She also looks a lot like Kelani Jordan? Bright and Grey are still putting it together and I'm not sure the hints of characterization from Grey from announcers come through so far with her attire or ringwork - she was apparently a very good amateur wrestler, but has mostly shown a black trunks (well, sparkly pink with garters) rookie moveset so far. Diggs gets out of an arm-wringer with a headscissors in a great little spot that miraculously doesn't look too collaborative, and later on gets out of a waistlock by doing a split and using that to pick a leg. Brinley brings out a flip clothesline that looks OK and a brief Giant Swing that looks good, but she's in a really challenging spot as far as finding a way to present Goofy Yet Flippy Power Face in ringwork. With that said, everyone here was surprisingly good at filling downtime, like making the stock WWE bit of slowly crawling to your tag partner seem like reasonable exertion of effort balanced with struggle. Brinley (finally) wins with a roundoff into a DDT on a kneeling Grey, after Diggs and Bright both tumble out of the ring.
  3. I love how about halfway through Eddie was asked when he last cried. It was like the whole premise of the show had to pause as he was talking some real shit. I love the idea of the show already and y'all need to see this.
  4. This sounds like a thing Shaq would pitch.
  5. My alternate to ten "Teams of ten, Jesus, is Mox Bleeding Again?"
  6. Big announcement, the finals of Best of the Super Juniors 31 will be the main event of NJPW Dominion and not Jon Moxley vs. EVIL for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Cool seeing the Super Juniors getting such a headline opportunity and how Jon Moxley vs. EVIL will probably be a stinker. Good luck, Mox.

  9. My alternate was: Teams of ten come again. Settle down, The Naturaletico.
  10. It’s kind of bullshit to say something like this. And if you’re going to accuse everyone here who disagrees with you about Mercedes of that, at least have the courage of your convictions and say what you want to say instead of half-assing it. I know exactly what you’re talking about and look, just because one person here said something about Mercedes in the vein of what you’re alluding to, it doesn’t mean you can paint every person who simply doesn’t find her to be a good performer with that brush. That’s a load of shit and is unfair to a large percentage of the people in this community. Do better.
  11. Teams of eight, holy shit this show’s gonna run late!
  12. When I was writing up the promotional materials for groups I worked with on the indies, I just called it "Ultimate Survivor" elimination match. People figured out pretty quick it was a Survivor Series match. "Royal Rumble" was harder to get around. The NWA promotion in Pittsburgh actually stumbled into some great branding that caught on for it - "Burgh Brawl". Everyone knew it was a Royal Rumble.
  13. Anyone remember the Four Horsemen Vitamins? And when Ric Flair would get all worked up during a promo, and say to JJ he needed some vitamins, and then he'd throw a couple down and resume his promo?

  15. AEW literally advertised him for Wembley Stadium. So what is going on here? It's a work.
  16. Teams of seven, no one's getting into heaven
  17. Hunter did say that Brock is not out of the company so it still could happen if Brock wants to come back. It's probably up to how open Brock is to working in a WWE that isn't run by Vince
  18. Takerufuji is kyujo. Kirishima has lost Ozeki, it seems. Unless he comes back tomorrow or Monday and pretty much wins out, which is unlikely, with him withdrawing with a spinal injury. Takakeisho withdrew after a loss on opening day. Lots of 6-1 scores, Onosato being the only sanyaku in the running. The power vacuum is real.
  19. Problem with the “AEW Survivor Series” concept is there’s a good chance the naming of it would need to include gambling terminology since “Dudebros playing Texas Hold ‘Em” is their early, outdated and tired aesthetic that they’re still married to.
