  1. Past hour
  2. If you go on Trailers from Hell, their reviews page has a bunch of re-released Corman that are really detailed. He made I think Beast from Haunted Cave in like six hours with a tarpaulin as the monster
  3. After Synedoche was recorded I checked the DVR and realized that it, God's Pocket, and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead were all on it in a ROW. I guess the anniversary of Seymour-Hoffman's passing was recent.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPMNY3roo_Y&pp=ygUZc3RldmUgYWxiaW5pIGlhbiBtYWNrYXllIA%3D%3D A beautiful interview with him and Ian Mackaye. It's so fucking intelligent. Albini even criticizes his own engineering skills, they go from talking Wax Trax to taking on the Internet, and I could just not turn it off no matter the length.
  5. I was just listening to To Mega Therion yesterday. Seeing that photo of Hat again immediately reminded me of The Office haha Kerry is Slayer-By-Numbers. I bet the album is gonna be like, you could put the riffs in any order and it would sound the exact same. Good solo though, like the drumming below. (Kerry, who wrote a song using a term invented by Rush Limbaugh as its title, should probably not be touching the political realm but what you gonna do. Stick to Satan and murder bud)
  6. Over the weekend I googled NBA Draft, and clicked on the News tab, there were a ton of articles about how Bronny doesn't look like an NBA prospect, and how scouts aren't really feeling him. ... and then one ESPN article that says "How Bronny James Improved his Draft Stock at the Combine."
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm_DDttubQs I need to watch Bring the Pain again sometime. Noticed the last time it was on TV that it was self-censored... you probably know the bit.
  8. I used to sub to Wrestle Universe a long time ago, but I think at the time it was just DDT and TJPW. That'll probably be my solution. I'm going to Japan in October so I'm hoping to get a feel for the promotions and catch a show.
  9. Now I've imagined him wistfully singing "Goodbye Horses" as he sadly leaves his farm, and this isn't your fault but I'm going to blame you for it anyway.
  10. Back to the Knicks for one quick second: I hope he got all the Rangers stuff I sent.
  11. Neighbor called off his wedding Saturday. Ceremony was after lunch. Lol, timing, I wish he had cancelled everything before I got up early to wash our car so it would be squeaky clean for the big event, but nope. Guy still seems deeply in love with the bride-not-to-be, but he’s been asking her for a prenup agreement for awhile now. Decided to marry her anyway after she refused to sign, then thought better of it last week. Probably smart but not exactly admirable. A little worried I have a hand in this. Neighbor came to me a month ago needing some professional advice and when the conversation turned to his impeding nuptials, I gave him my personal - as opposed to professional - opinion of prenup contracts. Personally, I think asking your fiance or fiancée to sign one is a terrible idea, but, if you really want a prenup and the other person really doesn’t, is it any different from not being able to agree on a joint checking account or a household budget? It’s a flashing red light that you and they are not on the same page, and need to have some more serious discussion before thinking about marriage Professionally, I think it’s smart, particularly in this case when would have been his fourth marriage and her third. Lol, I am really hoping I never have to tell my wife that I told him they were probably incompatible if a a prenup was that important to him. She like them as a couple and spent the weekend fantasy booking how they could get back together (or how she could get them back together, more to the point).
  12. Baron Corbin showed up at the PBA Playoff Finals yesterday. He didn't use his thumb and crossed over on a Brooklyn shot for nine. I'm surprised the PBA hasn't done something like what they do with NASCAR and gotten a WWE-themed crossover event going with some pros and wrestlers doing a doubles tournament.
  13. I'd recommend trying Wrestle Universe for a month, since it comes with DDT, Noah, TJPW, and Ganbare, plus they have added Michinoku Pro, Sendai Girls, and Zero One recently as well. That way you get a nice sampler of what else is out there, outside of All Japan and Big Japan. I personally love DDT because of their mix of comedy and serious, but if that's not for you, maybe Noah might be.
  14. Today
  15. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GOBjsKoaIAAul9r?format=jpg&name=900x900 New poster.
  16. This. No wonder Cody Rhodes and the fans were pissed, myself included. In my years on the board, that was one of the most angriest I've ever seen here, myself included.
  17. What company's besides New Japan are offering the best stuff? I'm thinking about getting back into puro after a too many year layoff. Like when I was watching Ryota Hama was still a current name, and now enough time has passed that people have forgotten his existence.
  18. I was gonna post this in the gaming section, but thought it may get a bit more visibility here (and as far as this source is concerned, I don't know too much about them, so take with the requesite grain of salt): A small bit of info on what went wrong with the video game - a lot of this was probably just 'safe to assume' for anyone paying close enough attention, but the big news is probably that AEW was smart enough to structure the Yuke's deal so they own the game's engine, so they can go with a new dev for the sequel/next game: https://insider-gaming.com/aew-fight-forever-delayed-further-budget-issues/
  19. What a weird series. All credit to Minnesota who looked on the ropes and unable to respond after Denver won three straight. This was a historically gutsy comeback that feels like Championship level material to me. So watch them lose to the Mavs in 5 I guess - because these playoffs have been something else. I feel ... apathetic... about the Pacers/Boston series.
  20. Tickets just went on sale here in the States. Judging from what I'm seeing, this is gonna be massive, so move quickly.
  21. NASCAR All-Star Race was a snoozefest between lap two when Kyle Busch put Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the fence, and post-race when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. punched Kyle Busch in the face, and then Ricky Stenhouse Sr. tried to punch Kyle Busch as well.
  22. So for May, trying to give you some Memphis color with a few things. Jerry Lawler, Dennis Condrey & Phil Hickerson vs Bill Dundee, Rocky Johnson & Tojo Yamamoto NWA Mid-America 9-6-76 Here's what my pal Chad said about this one: The second concession stand brawl: And I'll try to upload TOMMY RICH & BILL IRWIN & GYPSY JOE vs BILL DUNDEE & TOJO YAMAMOTO & ROBERT GIBSON (10/11/1980) for you later which is a super heated studio match. So much of understanding Memphis is understanding the studio tv show that got massive tv shares in the region. Again, I could give you Lawler vs Dundee or Andy Kaufmann stuff but you can find that yourself. This will give you a taste of that period in general and probably what your dad would have been watching.
  23. If I could make gifs work, I'd put in a standing ovation or something. Oz Academy can be a tough watch because of the constant stream of interference, as it's basically a lawless land for the heels, but it's worth it for moments like this when someone like Mio Momono might actually break through it all. It helps that Mio is fantastic, too.
  24. Dawned on me that I never cross-posted the Momono vs Ozaki review here. It was quite the thing: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2024/05/mio-momono-enters-thunderdome.html
  25. While current-day WWE is still very much not my thing, I do think the fact that they did pivot back to Cody/Roman was the first big sign that things were going to be different post-Vince. If he was still in charge, no way they course-correct.
  26. Bonking his head on that sign after warmups that time must’ve knocked a couple inches off.
