I've been watching some 2006 CMLL affliiated indy lucha and one of the matches is Charles Lucero/Tigre Universitario/Averno vs. Bronco/Oriental II/Potro Jr. Bronco is Silver King in his short lived gimmick between Black Tiger and when he went back to Silver King. The only appearance I remember on CMLL from Bronco is that total fail of a debut with Electro shock. How long did he last under the gimmick?  Was that his only appearance on CMLL tv?

That match is such a myth though. It was not a terrible match full of botched spots as people would have you believe. That's mostly the anti-AAA guys going nuts when Electro Shock invaded Arena Mexico (same ones that now cheer Estrellita). He had one near botched dive at the end & Silver King messed up one spot in the first fall. Nothing out of the ordinary. Somehow it got turned into "the worst match of all time that cost both guys their pushes". Not true. Electro wasn't accepted by the fans - good match or not - and was gone almost immediatly. Bronco was Silver King's idea to deal with his receeding hairline.

From the resultados:

EMLL 5/1 - Arena Mexico
1. Stukita & Ultimo Dragoncito beat Mercurio & Pequeno Olimpico
2. Pierroth/Vangelis/Bobby Zavala defeated Blue Panther Jr./The Panther/Pegasso and after the match Carlos Maynez got a moment of applause.
3. Marco Corleone/Maximo/Rush beat Euforia/Thunder/Ultimo Guerrero by DQ when UG fouled Rush.
4. Torneo Cibernetico Reyes del Aire: La Sombra defeated Stuka Jr. to win then ripped off his mask to shine his boot before breaking the trophy. Order of Elimination: Triton/Guerrero Maya Jr./Fuego/Puma King/Delta/Tiger/Dragon Lee II & Kamaitachi/Misterioso II/Virus/Angel de Oro/Gran Guerrero/Niebla Roja/El Barbaro Cavernario/Stuka Jr.
5. Revancha Match: Los Hijos del Infierno (Ephesto/Luciferno/Mephisto) beat La Nueva Sky Team (Mistico II/Valiente/Volador Jr.) by DQ when Mephisto faked a foule by Volador.

That is the greatest rudo move everrrrrrrr. Has it ever been done before? Sounds like something that would have started a riot in the '80s depending on the participants.

The Dream Team: Alberto el Patron/Myzteziz/Rey Mysterio Jr.

Team Mexico: Psycho Clown/Hijo del Fantasma/Hijo del Texano

Team Mexico Independent: Blue Demon Jr./Dr. Wagner Jr./Solar I

Team All-Japan: MASAMUNE/Kenzo Suzuki/Tiger Mask III

Team NOAH: Taiji Ishimori/Atsushi Kotoge/Yoshihiro Takayama

Team ROH: ACH/Brian Cage/Mosee

Team TNA: Ken Anderson/Matt Hardy/Johnny Mundo

Team World: Angelico/Drew Galloway/El Mesias

Okay. So we get a TNA team with Mundo, who doesn't work for them, an ROH team with Cage, who doesn't work for them, an All Japan team that I guess is putting Koji Kanemoto under the hood that he always hated wearing (?), and teams with the two of the most glaringly non-lucha performers ever: Ken Anderson and Yoshihiro Takayama. Can somebody explain some of these things? Is AAA being booked by Tenryu now? Why didn't they just do a Team Lucha Underground with Mundo/Cage/somebody else instead?

It's listed with promotions, but it's supposed to be a country vs country deal.  So the TNA three guys get split up because Galloway's not American. And Cage gets put on the ROH team because very few people in Mexico would have any idea who Moose or ACH is, but Cage has been on TV as new lead heel for the last three months so he's got to be in there somewhere.

The weirdness of the AJPW is mostly a "we got whoever we could get" situation. Kanemoto has no name in Mexico, but the Tiger Mask gimmick is at least slightly well known in Mexico so he wears it for one night. (And probably just one match, since that's an obvious first round loser team.) I think the Takayama deal was probably the same, AAA just took whoever they were able to get. Anderson was not good in his previous AAA appearances, but he's an ex-WWE guy and that's why he and Hardy were probably picked.
