Thiago Marreta stepping in to replace Teixeira against Manuwa in Sao Paulo is currently in the works.

This is now official.

Also, not only is Thales Leites having his last fight on the Sao Paulo card but Evan Dunham is also retiring after his fight with Massaranduba.

Dear Cage Warriors: If you've told your TV partner that it's a 2 hour show from 9 to 11PM, and you've scheduled a five round main event, and the semi-final match finishes at 10:25, maybe rush them to the cage right away. That way, everyone who's not watching live will get to see the whole match. Because when you decide that it's important to be airing all of your video packages and promos and pre-match analysis and then the video packages again, and then doing epic ring entrances, so that the bell to start round one doesn't sound until 10:55PM, if it goes past round one the Tivo box is going to cut it off and people won't know who won or how it ended for a few days.

Or you could just tell BT Sport it's a Two and a half hour live show that can be cut to two hours for replays. That would work. But it seems like every card they put on overruns on time for no reason whatsoever. Why do they tell people who are doing their ring entrances to stand at the top of the ramp for a minute or two before walking down it? Because everyone seems to, and none of them seem to know why they're just standing there. It's odd.

Paddy Pimblett vs Soren Bak was a good fight though. Bit one sided both ways.

The last two PFL shows I've DVR'd both ended a minute into the main event.

Anyway, I dunno if it's some type of chicken and egg scenario where folks were inspired by American boxing PPVs main events can only start around midnight eastern time (keep in mind, US boxing PPVs traditionally start at 9 p.m. eastern save for MayPac which was 8 pm with only 2 undercard fights). So if the other fights end early, the amount of time they have to kill is crazy and then the national anthems, entrances, etc eat up half an hour by themselves. However, I've noticed from the HBO and Showtime live feeds for UK and Germany boxing events that they have to wait 30 to 40 minutes from the start of the U.S. broadcast (usually 45-50 minutes from the last undercard fight in the venue) for Buffer, Lennon Jr., or whomever is the announcer to start the introductions. The thing is the US version is only showing ONE fight. How many times can Jim Lampley go over the tale of the tape? You know how awkward that is for the commentators to parse over the info five times in between one or two video packages? They had to do that for Dillian Whyte vs. LUCAS BROWNE. The best Max Kellerman could come up with to fill dead air is Browne failed a bunch of PED tests and got his ass whooped by Daniel Cormier in MMA.

People bitch about the UFC but the PPVs get done as fast as they can and they try to get the main event in the cage ASAP. And the funny thing about that? The UFC can take as much time as they want (at least domestically) because the shoe is on the other foot from the days of like UFC 33. They can book 4 or 5 title fights on one event if they want.

I will give Showtime credit in that recently they've gotten it right with the Youtube broadcasts of the international cards. They're using the homegrown announcers and they're willing to broadcast the undercard bouts that the promoters squeeze on the cards in between the important, notable fights. The one fight cards are now antiquated as hell especially if it takes forever for it to get in the ring.
