Banging the head that does not bang

I was just listening to To Mega Therion yesterday.

Seeing that photo of Hat again immediately reminded me of The Office haha

Kerry is Slayer-By-Numbers. I bet the album is gonna be like, you could put the riffs in any order and it would sound the exact same. Good solo though, like the drumming below. (Kerry, who wrote a song using a term invented by Rush Limbaugh as its title, should probably not be touching the political realm but what you gonna do. Stick to Satan and murder bud)

It kinda sounds like Ke$ha making a heavy song. It's not bad though.

Liturgy put out a new EP. My first listen I was really into it but on the second one something felt off. I can't even put into words what isn't clicking.

Do I want to make a Motorhead joke (Cause HHH) or a Taylor Swift Joke (Cause he's Lamar Hunt's grandkid)

Yet another collab I didn't know I needed. It's like they grafted a Babymetal song onto an Electric Callboy song and it just works.

I'm a bit indifferent on the concept of Babymetal but I'd love to hear a Su-metal power/classic/traditional heavy metal album

The new BAT is really good.

And then of course there is the return of my beloved Nifelheim (see personal pic) in the form of Hellbutcher, the eponymous band of their singer. Apparently twin brother Tyrant retired and he decided to continue on with a group that sounds exactly like the old one. It's beautiful. (He also does an old-school doom side project called Friends of Hell where he actually SING sings and it's pretty good too. Him and a buxom blonde singer from some other Swedish band did a cover of a Phil Lynott song for charity that is on Youtube somewhere, can't find it, but it's pretty good.)

My other beloved, Japan's Sabbat, is coming out with a new album soon too! Huzzah and hurray!

EDIT: I found it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcTge0tf1Lk The band is Saints & Sinners, some kind of metal/rock project.

I saw Sabbat once but it was the end of a long, long night (let's see, playing before them were: Ares Kingdom, Deceased, The Chasm, Usurper... probably someone I'm forgetting). All I remember is it feeling like one long guitar solo set to strobe lights. (I was so drunk I hit my bassist in the kidneys and got decked. That's the only time I've ever gotten violent while drinking with... anyone. I have no idea why I did it.) I walked in on the end of Bat when they played another Deceased show with Savage Master. Savage Master I am not a fan of. All gimmick, no songs.

Force of Darkness - Darkness Revelation

Hey, here's a good one! It's their second album. Twilight of Dark Illumination and especially the split with Wrathprayer which has this one totally amazing song on it are bigger favorites, but this one is super and I just picked it up. Old-school/thrash but super fast black metal with really great riffs and structures, a fair amount of Sarcofago in there, and the bass playing is just WHOA. Dude sounds like Baron Blood from Necromantia has possessed him from beyond the grave.

Just finished reading Swing of the Blade more stories from Metal Blade Records Brian Slagel's follow up to his first book for the sake of heavyness. Talks about working with Ghost, Gwar, fates Warning, Armored Saint, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate along smaller acts like Lizzy Borden that never quite got to that level. Also  good bit about running a record label. A fun read if your interested in the subject matter

I guess people are pissed about Absu being on the bill considering Proscriptor McGovern kicking their trans guitarist out and alienating the other members. There's a friend I have who basically took the opinion of "shut up, whiners" and I told him yeah, they don't have to protest the whole fest, just stage a walkout of the band instead 😛

Yhea Sonja played last year or the year before. I've always took the George Carlin position of "there are two buttons on the tv one changes the channel and the other turns it off"

I saw the Calvera Bros. do roots a few years back so looking forward to that and Crypt Sermon so far.

What's a good Crimson Glory album to check out?
