Sounds like a great idea for a new thread.

Wasn't he coming off some kind of injury at that point? I remember he was a little bulkier than he normally was at that point but then again it could've just been the gear he was wearing. I remember he got into pretty good shape for the Stevie Night Heat run.

He turns heel as part of Dark Journey Incorporated. She carries around a Dynamac that predicts the endings of his matches but with only 1MB of RAM, the match is over before the computer finishes its prediction.

This "Happening" we're talking about is when Gorilla Monsoon used to talk about really big pay-per views right?

APRIL WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

Ugh, people who ruin it for little kids are the effing worst. I can stomach smarkiness and douchebaggery but I hate it when people point out shit like that to kids. My fiancee's daughter will always ask me stuff like, "how did Undertaker get in the casket when he wasn't there during the match" and I always kayfab (tm Joseph Park) her. -

Cornette said that show was heavily papered. They sold 47,514 tickets (still impressive) and comped 12,511. Around the 35 second mark he gives out the figures. -

From everything I've heard, DDP's insane match planning rubbed people the wrong way. -
Luger? As far as I can remember, he only won the title at a ppv once and that wasn't even against the champ. He had ppv shots at Flair, Yoko, the mini-tourney at WMX and The Giant where he failed. He beat Hogan but that was on a Nitro.

APRIL WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

I thought the stalker angle was interesting, but as soon as it was revealed to be DDP, I knew he was doomed. That was also in the period where Undertaker wasn't putting anyone over and he sure as shit wasn't putting over a WCW dude at that point. I also think Undertaker was fresh off of burying Kronik. Hah, Undertaker buried the shit out of Kronik and DDP, two of the better parts of WCW at the end. The Kronik thing was in the fall while DDP was in the summer. -
Did Tim Burton start a pro-wrestling promotion? Johnny Depp would have more title reigns than Jeff Jarrett and Ric Flair combined. Helena Bonham Carter would be the GM.

Zack Ryder's entire 2012. Made to look like a chump by Eve, scared of Kane, can't change a flat tire, thrown off a stage while in a wheelchair and lost pretty much every match he was in the few times he was fortunate to even make it on tv after his "push". To me, that's the textbook example of a burial. You make the guy look like a fool and then you take him off tv.

Go to about 10 minutes in and see the Midnight Express squash this guy named Wee Willy Wilkens. I know Scott Keith isn't exactly loved here but I got this story from his blog: The Midnight Express v. Phil Brown & Wee Willie Wilkins. OK, this is the famous squash that was discussed on the blog a while back. The full story is in Dusty Rhodes’ book, believe it or not, but basically Wilkins was this little guy who thought he was hot shit and didn’t think he warranted position as a jobber because he had a couple of jacked up bodybuilder friends who he brought with him to the tapings. So Dusty decides to punish him with the Wee Willie name instead of his previous choice “Blue Thunder” (cough). And then he got in the MX’s face backstage, so this is the result. Condrey pounds Brown down to start and Eaton drops the flying knee, just beautifully. And we get the traditional rubbing of the belts in the jobber’s face by Cornette, and it’s over to Wilkins. Dennis gets on his knees to challenge him, which is hilarious, and Cornette actually jokes that he should call himself “Blue Thunder” on commentary. Eaton brings Wilkins off the top with a backdrop suplex and Condrey drops a knee, and it’s back to Brown again. Condrey, however, gives Wilkins another round of punishment while he’s leaving the ring, so he tags back in again. Eaton also does the kneeling joke and then starts laying in some pretty stiff shots and laughs off his offense. Like, literally chuckles when Wilkins is trying to make a comeback. Oh man, this is the best squash ever. Eaton adds a neckbreaker on the floor, and back in so Wilkins can tag out again. Condrey chokes him out on the ropes and they do the in-and-out gag, and Eaton suplexes him. Back to Wee Willie again and Condrey suplexes him and really lays into him with boots, as does Eaton. Willie then makes a major error and no-sells the beating, popping up with attitude, so the Express finishes with the Rocket Launcher at 7:00. I’d hate to be that punk in the dressing room afterwards. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x19iatc_nwa-saturday-night-march-29-1986-part-1_sport

APRIL WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

Same here. I could take him in small doses but listening to him constantly burying everything in front of him without a strong foil to contradict him was brutal. If you were a first-time or lapsed viewer tuning into the show at that time, all you would've heard is Cole telling you how stupid what was going on in the ring was, how boring everybody except The Miz was, etc. I consider myself a pretty die hard fan who can sit through damn near anything but I had a hard time watching during that period and would frequently just dvr shows, fast forward to matches I wanted to see and mute the sound or turn it waaaay down and put music on instead. -
Needs more dancing and he should be Khali's sidekick.

It's taken Hornswoggle over 7 years and he still hasn't finished all of the proper title defense paperwork. Hopefully now that people realize that, they'll get off of Ambrose's back.

So is El Torito the new cruiserweight champ?

APRIL WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

Yeah, that and the "Kane was the first Undertaker" were my personal favorites. There should be a "common wrestling misconception/false rumor" thread. We could mourn the death of Paul Orndorff. -
I always figured that it was supposed to be a kind of wussy blade job to hammer home how stupid the rule was and Flair narrowly escaping.

Major League Fight Club Con Air Ghost Rider--stupid f'n movie but I'll always watch for whatever reason Trading Places

I'd pick Pillman as the deceased guy for next year. Austin would induct him.
