  1. So apparently, I was the only one who watched the December Fox show. This is good to know because then it won't make these responses seem extremely preposterous. How many times do two boxers (who are 95% never going to fight each other) call one another out and accuse the other of ducking them?
  2. Yeah, not a fan of V for Vendetta. The comic itself is one of Moore's weaker efforts from his prime (maybe I'd like it better if I was English and understood more of the context, I dunno) I know there are plenty of Americans who have openly stated that they think Alan Moore (not that they named him, they just said whoever wrote V for Vendetta, probably meaning the movie) invented Bonfire Night. He didn't. It was invented in early 1606, to commemorate the failure of the actual gunpowder plot to kill King James the first and sixth* (and the whole parliament too) on November 1605. We still celebrate Guy Fawkes' Night now... on the 400th year Anniversary there was a TV documentary recreating it and seeing what would have happened if Fawkes' had got to set his bomb off (they built a replica Parliament on an Army base), and it climaxed with this: * First King James of England. Sixth King James of Scotland. Some Scottish people are really specific about calling him James VI & I, instead of James I & VI.
  3. Well, if Diaz thinks he has no chance of winning, or even of looking impressive in losing, that's a valid reason to turn the fight down.
  4. You know, if Triple H hadn't done all those steroids and messed up his body's natural testosterone production, Steph could have had boys too. Although if he'd never done the steroids he'd probably never had gotten Steph's hand in marriage in the first place.
  5. Shia Labouef dies horribly after bare seconds of screen time. It's perfect~!
  6. My lad never really liked Disney stuff at any point, and he was less into the Hunger Games than I was. He just likes Superhero movies. He wanted to go see Deadpool, but he's only 11... and whilst I might eventually buy it on DVD or BR, I think it might be one of those movies you don't watch with your children (or parents).
  7. Vincent J McMahon is the only McMahon in the WWE HoF. Can't think why Vince K. (Jr.) wouldn't put himself in, unless he's actually planning on retiring at some point or something.
  8. If board posters had entrance music, this would be Kenya Baxter's:
  9. The set-up move for the Pedigree is a low blow, not a kick to the stomach. And it's usually pretty obvious that H doesn't want his hand to touch another man's masculine area when he low blows them.
  10. Funny that we go from a discussion of not liking movies where the 'heroes' are villainous to a discussion of The Godfather movies without anyone pointing out that the heroes of the Godfather movies also have villains as heroes. Also, Kubrick missed the point of Clockwork Orange because he was working from an edition of the book that doesn't have the final chapter in it. My least favourite movie character is Mary-Jane Watson. And I liked her in the comics mostly.
  11. So I'm watching Talking Dead, and Danai Gurira evidently considers Miranda from Mass Effect to be a style icon.
  12. Most of the Fight Pass cards were shown on TV over here (Jedzrejzcyk vs Penne was the first one that wasn't) . Most of the UK shows were shown on free TV over here (a few were on BT Sport like regular UFC tvs and PPVs are).
  13. I read in the Sunday Times magazine, their culture gossip guy said he talked to a bunch of Academy voters, and they said they never even watched Straight Outta Compton because it 'supports crime'. The writer pointed out the hypocrisy of thinking Bonnie and Clyde is a classic but not watching Straight Outta Compton because of crime (which isn't actually about criminality, so much as about people escaping a criminal situation). He then said the 'Oscars ugliness is as much about age and the ossification of taste as it is about race'.
  14. Just in case anyone didn't see it before: Who was the first to use that shot, anyway? The earliest I remember seeing it was Desperado, but if Robert Rodriguez invented it, I'm sure he'd boast about it more.
  15. Ray Park didn't do the voice, that was Peter Serafinowicz. Hence him repeating his revenge line in Spaced series 2, which I can't find on youtube because it's blocked for copyright in England.
  16. When Forest Whittaker won his Oscar, I read something where a journalist was saying it wouldn't be the career boost for him that it was for Denzel, because Forest doesn't have Denzel's ability to make white people feel good about themselves. I never got the feeling that Jim Brown was a scary guy, but then by the time I knew what American Football was, he was already retired. But then Brown's movie career was being a hero in Blaxploitation films, and OJ only made big budget mass market movies. Towering Inferno and that.
  17. There's a fake Earl Hebner? But Earl Hebner is fake Dave Hebner!
  18. Brian Lee can't be that busy. Fake Taker & Fake Kane vs Taker & Kane. Get Kevin Nash back to referee, he can DQ Kane for being fake Diesel.
  19. I'd never heard of it. Did they not make their own programmes before now?
  20. What's Sundance TV? Robert Redford's indie major film festival now has it's own TV nework?
