Well, Reem should be fired for being an underperforming douche... But other than that, I agree with you.
  2. Sorry for the loss, it's been three years since we had to put Carnacki I down (he caught pneumonia after minor surgery and just couldn't kick it). Three weeks ago, my little guy Fantomas disappeared, after five days of papering the neighborhood and searching for him we concluded that someone has taken him. A friend mentioned that her cat had just had kittens and one of them looked just like Carnacki I, so we adopted him. The next day I heard a cat howling outside at six AM. It was Fantom, he came home much skinnier but okay. I have to assume that he was locked in somewhere, or had strayed a few blocks too far and couldn't find his way back until he heard us calling for him. (We went waaaay the hell down to a wooded area almost a mile away, basically, did a square-mile search on foot). Anyway, he doesn't go more than two houses away now and plays with the little guy, so all is good and now we are 7! Will post pics when I figure out how to get them from phone to computer... The full roster: Medea - 14 Capt. Nemo -12 Dr. Nikola - 12 Jorkens -10 Sumuru - 6 Fantomas - 1 1/2 Carnacki II - 8 weeks
  3. Gotcha. I await the advent of some gray so I can be even more distinguished looking. ;-) Actually, about four or five have shown up in the last year, but Mrs OSJ pulled them out...

Old, shot fighters never die... But I do wish that they would go away. At this point, Mirko has as much business doing this stuff as I do. Which is not at all. I thought he already had the equiv of a Senate seat and was pretty much set for life... Did he watch a vid of the Funks return to Japan or something?
  5. Hoping the Natural pays close attention to RD 1. This is a much better investment of time than the prelims which so far have been as interesting as watching paint dry.

Dunno, he's very adept at kicking people in the head, but as to hand power, I think he's only had one KO. Could be a very interesting fight.
  7. That's one of Kinsella's isn't it? (Been years). Never read a bad book by the guy. Met him at an M's game, super nice, had plenty of time to bs with a mid-list author. Currently reading: Well, I just snagged ALL-STAR ARCHIVES 1-6 for eighty bucks on eBay, so I'm going to kick back and enjoy reading about Dr. Fate, Hourman, and the gang kicking the crap out the Nazis...
  8. Can't see how that could be boring... Are you able to work in anything that Library of America has issued? In which case give 'em some Cormac McCarthy, HPL, and PKD. That'll put meat in the seats.
  9. Gee, let me guess what that scene was....
  10. I'll agree, but the finish more than made up for it. The prelims were simply awesome, maybe even better than the main card.
  11. I'm not going to participate in the whole project, but this piece of crap is an hour and a half (or whatever) of my life that I will never get back.
  12. Yeah, but NOW???? I'm not doing too bad for 56... ;-) BTW: Fifty is the new thirty...
  13. Working on the intro to Steve Yohe's book on Strangler Lewis... Believe me when I say that this sets the bar for what a wrestling history book ought to be.
  14. This may be true, but I figure I've got another twenty years before I need to worry about it... Since I've already had one heart attack (which I didn't even notice), I've switched to a much more healthy diet and started losing weight. I'll always be a proud member of Team Chunky, but in my doc's words I've gone from "heart attack waiting to happen" to "big guy that needs to keep exercising and watching what he eats.". I can easily live with the latter. Now I shall have my usual noodles and yogurt for lunch... Soooo good.... ;-)
  15. I think this is the best that Kendo Nagasaki has ever done. I'd be all for him going in (as well as Jackie Pallo, and Mark Rocco), but I don't have a ballot and if I did, I doubt that Dave would think me eligible to vote on the European candidates. I can't see either Big Daddy or Giant Haystacks as HOFrs. A very strong group this year, the exclusion of Enrique Torres is a disappointment as is the continued exclusion of Volk Han, Ken Patera, and Mark Lewin. Lewin is an interesting case, his work in Oz isn't quite enough to get him in, but when you add up all the other stuff he did, he seems like a no-brainer to me. I think the thing keeping Patera out is that he's such a hateful bastard, no one likes him.Patera should really be a mod on this board, he seems to hate everyone and will go off without warning, all qualities that one wants in a mod.
  16. My cousin has told me to just sell my car and use the bus to get everywhere. Sorry, didn't see this until just now. I lived in Seattle from birth until 2007. Your cousin is right, I've never driven and never needed to. (Although buying and transporting groceries on the bus is not a great deal of fun). You can get anywhere in the city by bus without having to wait more than 20 minutes. Avoid the over-priced tourist traps like the Space Needle. (I'm proud to say that I watched the thing get built when I was a toddler and have never been up in the sonofabitch). If you want great fresh seafood, go to the Wong Tung Seafood Market in the International District. You can actually select live crab, clams, etc. (even live frogs and soft-shell turtles if your tastes run that way). There is a great Asian market that takes up a full city block at the base of the ID. The Pike Market is fun for people watching, but the fish and produce is MUCH more expensive than what you can find up the hill in the ID. However, don't miss the fried chicken gizzards and World Class Chili at the Pike Market. If you're lucky, you might visit WCC when they are trying out a batch of something new and exotic such as venison chili... The Belltown pub crawl is fun if you're into that sort of thing, me, I preferred my dive bar in the University District, the Knarr Tavern... Let me know how you're enjoying the city thus far. I would have never left if it wasn't for financial reasons. (I can live in Gallup very well indeed on $3000 a month. In Seattle $3000 a month barely covered my rent.) In Gallup, I have a two bedroom triplex for $600 a month. You can't rent a broom closet in Seattle for $600 a month.
  17. Mrs OSJ shares her birthday with: Greg Ham (Men at Work) same year. Gwyneth Paltrow Good King Weneschlaus (or however you spell it) Jim Shooter (Comic book maven) And a whole bunch of footballers I've never heard of... My line up is so much more awesome, I shall gloat.
  18. Bad night for the military, 1-4 by my count, unless I missed someone's service. Kennedy sent everyone back to the barracks with a smile on their face, though. Our troops proved to be a total class act cheering for the winners regardless of where they hailed from. Very proud of our troops for showing what an MMA crowd should behave like. (I didn't hear a single "USA,USA!" until Kennedy won, and then it was completely appropriate.)
  19. Hair is still jet black and it ain't receding, however, I AM a cranky bastard.
  20. All this Pokémon and MTG crap makes my head hurt. You guys are lucky I no longer have banning powers... Oh wait,. maybe I do... Allow me to check....
