  1. I remember now, they were airbrushed. The first one was a Dungeon shirt and the one he had under it was Eric Bischoff, who fittingly got bled on.
  2. Oh yeah. They were all over McIntyre with the predictions too so you know he's at least hitting the finals.
  3. Nice that Bray's bringing back the Mandible Claw. I'd rather Jerry choke on that than somebody choking on something of his for a change... Off-color comments aside, what I watched was fine. Cesaro/Joe was a stiff bit of business. Didn't know Joe was such a sand-bagger either. If Cesaro can't pick you up, damn. Is Cesaro wearing braces now? That's what it looked like from the interview segment. This was probably the second time I've seen Sonya and her work was pretty slick. The one thing I have to bitch about is why are they going to make this KOTR last a zillion years. They have THREE HOURS of TV on Monday and only blew through two KOTR matches?! WHY.
  4. Now THAT would be a volume to rival The Dirt (only its stories would be true)
  5. That Dungeon shirt is so hilariously bad. Didn't Foley use a Dungeon shirt in ECW to get cheap heat once? Can't remember the story behind that one.
  6. City on a Hill's season finale was worth watching two times in a row. God it was great seeing
  7. ...and of course everybody has to see EAR JUICE. Whatever really happened there, that's nasty, but the beating that Tenryu gets before it happens is even worse.
  8. Those look so fucking painful. And I am going to watch that AJ six man with Kurisu NOW. EDIT: Oh that match is so so fun. Both Kurisu and Ishikawa get plenty of airtime and Tenryu is a monster, with Kurisu getting a sick piledriver from him along with basically running into his arm like it's a tree branch that a guy on a motorcycle didn't see in the way (which they thankfully replay). I wish both teams brawled out to finish but other than that, great six-man. Here's my contribution to the Yatsu train: I get the feeling neither man had a very good day before they got into Korakuen that night.
  9. I actually didn't see a lot of the comedy until rewatching it recently. As a kid I just took it chapter and verse and didn't see a lot of the intentional goofiness of Reggie, the weapons, etc. Still, it's more deadpan than Evil Dead 2 or Texas Chainsaw 2 as far as "funnier sequels" go.
  10. Three drum kits is just enough.
  11. This is going to be my mission for October: a Phantasm every night for a week. And then watch The Beastmaster on Saturday!
  12. If you really, really love Phantasm I and II, yes. IMO it kind of holds ground throughout, but the quality may fluctuate to others. I'd say since you like II then just buckle up and take the ride.
  13. https://scrapsfromtheloft.com/2018/03/20/making-alien-behind-the-scenes/ I've talked about Cinefantastique before here, and after a single search go figure, here is the 1979 Alien articles, sans photos, in one batch. And of course the writers can't help themselves from being complete and total dicks. So if you ever thought asshole nerds was a new thing, think again
  14. Got my Blower Box bass pedal back tonight, which sounds just like Blacky's tone on all the Voivod stuff (it would help if I could play bass worth a shit but hey I'll take what I can get). So, here's a very nice rarity and speaking of great Metal Massacre rarities Man, these two bands just send a special shiver up your spine that nobody else can. So different, yet a similar reaction. This is what makes me obsessed with heavy metal, this is why it's the best. And after saying "this is why it's the best" I feel obligated to provide a more palatable example of why, so here's this (sorry, that's just me being a dick. Here's Iron Maiden)
  15. Aw man what is the video where Eddie Marlin rips his shirt off and says to somebody "YOU'VE GOT TWO CHOICES"? I can't remember the angle or the participants, just him doing that. RIP
  16. Thanks for the reminder, a buddy of mine introduced me to Hot Ones but I haven't seen one in awhile. Funny story, Gordon Ramsey did one and totally ate shit/wimped out doing it... then guess what my dad found to buy the family for Xmas? A six pack of Gordon Ramsey hot sauce bottles. And now I see that guy basically stealing the Tony Bourdain position of going to exotic places and eating things for a show. What a poseur. EDIT: Steve seriously held his own in that one! He also had some great stories though the rapport with the host was a little off (which seemed helped when he brought up wrestling terminology). The Bossman story I've probably heard before but it's great to hear again within the context.
  17. Yeah, point taken. Being a loner who doesn't like crowds and the general public though it works perfectly.
  18. Looks like Corbin has moved up from being the O'Charley's waiter to working in the back as head line cook. The one who begs the brunch staff to fill a cellophane cup with rail vodka for him on Sunday morning.
  19. Watched the match last night (because I sat here and ignored it while it was actually on like a dummy). Pretty good WWE TV match, Roman looked good, Buddy looked good. I'm not seeing stars or Benoit or whatever you guys are but it was a fine match. Buddy needs to lose the falling double knees, they look like they are gonna hurt him way more than his opponent. "Here, you lay here and I'm gonna land with my shins on your shoulders while my knees directly hit the mat or the floor." Sorry, that just doesn't work for me even wrestling-logic wise. EDIT: Matter of fact, just remembered I was reading while the match was on, looked up to see him hit the knees to the outside, said "well that's stupid" and went back to what I was reading. So it actively had an effect on why I didn't watch the match.
  20. Holy shit, I finally realized who Scotty Riggs in that photo reminds me of: my friend Robert back when he still drank. He sobered up and grew out a crazy grey beard with weird giant mustache part now, but he used to hang out and drink with us 20 year olds (when we were in our 20s and he was in his late 30s). Imagine a guy who had an expression like that most all the time on his face walking down the main avenue of a college town hammered at six in the morning barefoot and wearing a dress for no reason. That was Robert back then.
  21. Just finished Make My Day: Movie Culture In the Age of Reagan by J. Hoberman. This is the third in a trilogy of books preceded by The Dream Life and An Army of Phantoms talking about film history and the title is pretty self explanatory, he starts with film in the mid-late Sixties and follows its American development through to 1990 while at the same time charting the life and career of Mr. Reagan, who it is pretty clear he despises (as do I). Lots of jaundiced opinions about both film and politics in this one (he does NOT like Ghostbusters or Indiana Jones, for example) and being reminded of the shit that Reagan pulled while in office will make you want to throw the book on multiple occasions. Interesting read though, and a complete dissection of '80s blockbusters and Reagan's simultaneously manipulative and pie-in-the-sky psychology. Hoberman's included original passages written for the Village Voice at the time are absolutely scathing. Here's a link if you wanna snag this one: https://thenewpress.com/books/make-my-day I got mine used from Abe Books. The New Press is a non-profit so they could use the dough if you wanna throw 'em a donation, too.
