  1. ? Yeah, I'm sure Curt Hawkins, Rusev, Alexander Jaksic, etc. are all chomping at the bit to headline the Berwyn Eagles Club.
  2. Oh God, I hope none of the fired workers are dumb enough to ask Corino for advice: "Yeah, so first thing you want to do is find a money mark and start your own indy promotion. You're gonna wanna run it out of Braintree, MA and book yourself as lead heel, with Jack Victory and C.W. Anderson as your flunkies. After that indy fails, you're gonna find another money mark and do the exact same thing all over again. And if all that fails, than just steal your ex-girlfriend's credit cards and charge everything to her until the cops catch you."
  3. Lio Rush is the least surprising given his ego. Kind of surprised Vince didn't book him to get squashed by Kane and Undertaker in a handicap match first, just to fuck him over before kicking him out the door. Vince: "Well you said you wanted to be in the main event, pal. Here's your fuckin' chance. Gotta grab that brass ring." I wonder how long it will take Lio's big mouth to get him worked over by Harold Meij's Yakuza henchmen, or for him to have a "private conversation" with Bully Ray?
  4. Tony Khan: "Hi, this message is for Dark Order Creeper #7. Hey, I'm sorry, but we're going to have to let you go. We're facing a lot of economic uncertainty right now...."
  5. Yeah, we're gonna probably start seeing more and more such protests, and not from political groups but from desperate people who live paycheck to paycheck and need their restaurants/theaters/stores/wherever they work re-opened.
  6. Oh God, lot's of stuff to cover: Kodo Fuyuki running FMW into the ground and causing the suicide of owner Sho Arai. The life and times of Gorgeous George Gillette, Kendo Nagasaki's (British version) manager. Shinya Hashimoto getting fucked over by New Japan in the whole Naoya Ogawa thing. The fall of UWF-I. The life and times of Dixie Carter. Rita Chatterton. The Poffos vs. Memphis.
  7. Going back to Pete's Jan 29th post, a Logan-Mary Jane romance could have been fun.
  8. From Savage Sword of Conan #23. That's Elfquest co-creator Wendy Pini as Red Sonja.
  9. He (and Cornette) still sings the praises of Dick Murdoch, ignoring the whole KKK thing.
  10. Yeah, I cancelled my Observer subscription this morning about halfway through his "it used to be shades of grey, but now there are good people and bad people" rant on this morning's WOR.
  11. I don't want to turn this into a "people are allowed to like different styles of wrestling" argument, but honest question: How many of the fans who boo Roman are workrate fanatics who boo Roman becuase he doesn't have the move set of Okada, Omega, Sanada, Moxley, Young Bucks, etc.? His two big moves are the super simplistic jumping punch to the face and a jumping shoulderblock to the chest. Would people cheer him more if he started doing Buckshot Lariats, Stormbreakers, etc?
  12. Momoe is probably my favorite wrestler of the modern era, such a breath of fresh air when she took over as the ace of All Japan Women and then moved on to AtoZ, etc. I wish she had stayed in the biz longer, but good for her. Does she actually train wrestlers, or is she more of a physical fitness trainer?
  13. Danny "Brainy Smurf" Goldman has died of a stroke at 80: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/14/entertainment/danny-goldman-obit/index.html
  14. I'm kind of surprised that there wasn't a mass exodus of Kotaku writers. It seemed like we were headed that way when Gita Jackson and Josh Rivera left in January, complaining that G/O Media wasn't welcoming to women or minorities, and Jason Schreier and some of the other writers either took shots at G/O or had "G/O Union" as their profile pic. But following Megan Greenwell's twitter, I know that, while she and Drew Magary landed on their feet with cushy jobs at Wired and Vice, a lot of their fellow Deadspin writers were struggling to get full time writing gigs after they all resigned. I wonder if that played a part in cowing other writers into staying, knowing that the era of plentiful full time journalism jobs on the Internet are starting to dry up as content providers pivot towards hiring young, cheap talent fresh out of college.
  15. I'm noticing lots and lots of people starting to ignore the "shelter in place" orders. In Washington, just talking to people on my shopping trips, there seems to be growing resentment at our governor for extending the quarantine and cancelling school the rest of the year. My one cousin is just finishing up her two week quarantine after testing positive, she really couldn't afford to miss two weeks of work or have groceries delivered to her home, so she's anxious to get back to work.
  16. Every time I hear Jake Roberts' heel theme, "Trust Me," I think that Jim Johnston must have bought a MIDI soundboard and started playing computer RPG's around this time period:
  17. Oh my God, this Baker and the Beauty is beyond horrible.
  18. As a big fan of "neo noir" private eye films, and considering how awful the DVD transfer is, I would kill for a bluray release of Marlowe. Even a barebones release.
  19. I watched the Sweeney!/Sweeney 2 blu ray set from Kino Lorber, loved it, and out of morbid curiosity picked up the 2012 remake off of eBay. My goodness, what a wretched piece of shit that remake is. Incredibly misogynistic, and director Nick Love (aside from exposing himself as homophobic) admits on the commentary track that the movie is a rip-off of Heat. How the hell did Ben "Plan B" Drew not get a Worst Actor nomination at the 2013 Razzies? If there is anything positive to be said about it, it really exposes what a great actress Hayley Atwell is, as she is incredibly convincing in trying to communicate that her character feels genuine sexual desire for a shirtless Ray Winstone. No wonder she keeps signing up for Marvel movies, when the alternative is thankless roles like this.
  20. After his blind Twitter defense of WWE after Dean Ambrose left, if Seth Rollins ever gets fired from WWE, I always imagined he would be outside the arena, watching glumly as his bag and gear are tossed out of the dressing room onto the street, and standing behind him is the nerd from Robot Chicken: Nerd: "This is awesome! Now you're finally free to go full time with AEW and New Japan! I can't wait to watch Jon Moxley suplex you into a barbed wire spider web, or for you to work 40-minutes night in, night out against Sanada, Okada, and Tanahashi during the G1 Climax!!!" Seth Rollins: "Shut the fuck up! You think I WANT to do any of that shit??!!??"
  21. That would be an interesting social experiment: an NXT/WWE "lifer" who never worked the "$20 and a sandwich" indy circuit, suddenly gets cast out of WWE and has to go work AEW/New Japan/RoH/Impact/NWA Powerr/MLW. Guys who never learned to improvise a promo, never worked an Amazing Red vs. Will Osprey style match, never worked a Jon Moxley vs Kenny Omega style death match, have no idea that scum like Ian Rotten populate the business.... When those guys invariably become free agents, it'll be really interesting to see what happens to them.
  22. Keep in mind, Vince co-wrote a movie where a morally bankrupt wrestling promoter kidnapped the girlfriend of America's biggest wrestling star AND had the guy's younger brother crippled and put into a wheelchair in order to pressure him into working a match. If I'm Roman, I'm sending my daughter to live with distant relatives in Samoa until all this blows over.
  23. What's your school district's expulsion policy like? Sounds like some of those kids would be better off in alternative schools. I left my last middle school and transferred to teaching high school three years ago after our new principal forbid us from sending problem students to the office to be disciplined.
  24. Any word on if this will be backwards compatible on PS5? I really don't want to have to buy a PS4 just to play this when the PS5 is 6-10 months away.
