  1. BB hits it on the head. BIG recommendation to talk to a professional, preferably a psychiatrist or a psychologist than a GP, simply because they specialize in things like that.
  2. You know, I don't know what it says about me that I thought about it, but I'm kind of surprised (pleasantly, mind) that I've yet to see a single "RIP MORGAN FREEMAN" status or tweet.
  3. My father-in-law's health has gotten worse over the past week; but my wife, brother-in-law, and mother-in-law went to the hospital and discussed options of care (or deciding to die) with him and the doctors. He decided he wants to live. Even if it means a tracheotomy, an oxygen regimen for life, and relocation from his hellhole of a residence, he decided he wants to live and cooperate. I'm surprised because of the nature of how he got there, but I always thought this guy would outlive all of us out of pure spite, so maybe it's not too shocking.
  4. Oh, the Eagles getting ready to Eagles a 17-point-lead is the most Eagles thing the Eagles could Eagles today. So when do the #weresorryandy tweets start?
  5. Would like to THIRD BL and Salads' call to YouTube Magical Tetris Challenge's soundtrack. Might be the trippiest game soundtrack I've ever heard since the original Sonic CD music.
  6. The friend from high school with brain cancer whom I posted about on here lost his fight on Thanksgiving day. Fuck death, and especially fuck cancer.
  7. RG3: We got more gongs than the breakdancing robot that caught on fire.
  8. We all thought my father-in-law was doing better, but apparently his lungs are really fucked and he's back on the ventilator and it doesn't look good. And the worst thing is, it's like he's not even trying to recover, like he seriously hates that he's alive. My wife is really in a bad way, and I hate this feeling of powerlessness in this predicament.
  9. I can't believe I forgot My Fellow Americans. James Garner was my HERO for a loooooong time after I first saw this. "Decaf, you pussy!" Also, I'll throw in Watchmen. For all that they could have fucked up with the adaptation, I think they did a damn fine job. And Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach still stands in my head as the single most brilliant casting decision since Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman. And while it's in my mind, is there anyone who didn't like Man on the Moon? The idea that those people might exist keeps me awake at night.
  10. I know ya'll are talking about this in the Movie Club, but I will defend Speed Racer to my dying breath. The Wachowskis said that they were making a live-action take on a 60s anime series, no more, no less, and that's exactly what they made. If you weren't already familiar with the source material I can see how you would think it was ridiculous, but those two made an honest-to-God love letter to that show and basically made the whole thing PURE Speed Racer. Also, John Goodman was THE perfect choice for Pops. "Was that a ninja?!" "More like a non-ja. It's embarrassing what passes for a ninja these days."
  11. So apparently Giant Bomb's Xbone bricked in the middle of its demo stream last night. I'm a Sony nationalist, so naturally I find this hilarious.
  12. Finally beat MGS4 on Liquid Easy. 200+ kills, 4 continues, about 15 hours of play. ALL HAIL, YOU PEONS.
  13. XII International had a license grid system set up like a job system, where you chose a job for each character and they were stuck with it. Also, it apparently changed up the Quickening system and how you used Espers.
  14. They're based on the International releases, so they come with a bunch of stuff that the US didn't get in the original release (Dark Aeons, super boss Penance, etc.), so take that for what it's worth. I'd love an HD remake of XII done the same way, with that job system the original didn't have.
  15. "Tom Brady is a bad loser, makes strange hair style decisions and has an impossibly attractive wife. He is a Bad Person" Tom Brady is a bad person because he left his pregnant girlfriend for a model. Never mind the model--leaving a pregnant girlfriend at all is low. How he still manages to get away with that mystifies me. Leaves Bridget in December when she's pregnant and gets with Gisele the next week. He was clearly f*cking both of them at the same time. Every other athlete gets racked other the coals for their out of wedlock babies, but Brady gets a pass. Unreal. I wish I could express shock at Brady getting a pass, but when the Eagles signed Vick in 2009, the radio waves were lit up with calls like "I don't care if they signed Osama bin Laden, I want a Super Bowl!" People are easy to forgive the transgressions of their best hope.
  16. Day 5 for my father-in-law in the hospital. Guy has been doped up and on a ventilator, and not only is he not improving, but he's not even trying... like he knows he's not dead and he's mad. If he wasn't sedated I'm sure he'd be forcing himself off the ventilator just so he can die.
  17. I've actually soured on most sports on the professional level, actually, and think I might be on my way out of sports fandom, but let's give this a try. Mostly based on geographical ties being from Philly, yeah. But I soured on the Eagles after they signed Vick, gave up on the NBA after I decided that watching one scripted spectacle masquerading as sport was enough, and finally had enough of the NHL's bullshit. I used to follow the Union in MLS, but the guy who used to take me to games left his girlfriend, who is a friend of my wife, so that isn't happening anymore, and I just can't be bothered to follow them. Followed Liverpool in EPL, but can't be bothered to try now. Used to follow Temple U for all sports, as well as the service academies, but swore off all college sports after the NCAA gave Penn State anything less than the death penalty in the aftermath of the Sandusky scandal. So now I'm basically stuck with baseball, and Ruben Amaro is not making this shit easy. Ugh.
  18. I'm waiting until Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV, though The Show might get me on board sooner. As it is, I just got a PS3 and am going to work on my wishlist/backlog, so I'm in no rush to leap up just yet. I don't care about FPS games or Madden, and I haven't gotten into Assassin's Creed yet, so I don't know if IV on the PS4 is worth it yet. In any case, I'm just chillin' with the PS3 in the meantime.
  19. Finally got to learning the Crystarium system I FFXIII. When I get a new game like this, my first instinct is to study the system and see if there's anyway I can minmax it. Final Fantasy games don't generally provide much deviation in character growth (except VIII, which you can make absurdly easy in a few hours once you twig to how the Junction system works), but I was wondering if there was anyway to do it with XIII and it's system with a grand total of THREE STATS.
  20. My father-in-law tried to kill himself this morning, and is in the hospital now. Ugh.
  21. Oh, Hollywood Cibernetico, you rascal you!
  22. Got me some FFXIII. Just got to the part where the NORA rebellion goes to hell and Hope's mom dies. He's gonna be an emo twat and make me hate this game, isn't he? Also, Vanille is WAAAAAAYYYY too chipper for this shit. I could use whatever she's on for dealing with work.
  23. The first religion to provide airtight evidence that Bud Adams is burning in hell gets a follower for life.
