  1. Basically it's like this - y'know when WCW were crushing WWF in the ratings? A lot of those numbers were tuning in to see Sting for 60 secs jump the nWo. As a kid, not a bitter fuckedhead IWC clown, Sting was pretty much the sole reason I watched WCW in the early 90s. Sting was also the reason I watched WCW during its peak. He makes people tune in, if that's not a draw I don't know what is If you take Sting out of WCW at any point in his career there is no one you can replace him with that has the same amount of fan connection, match quality or IT factor.
  2. I'm glad he finally started to get more recognition these past few years due to catch wrestling 'catch-ing' *chortle* on in mainstream MMA. My catch wrestling trainer is part of the Wigan Snake Pit lineage and he's pretty broke up about Billy's death Josh Barnett posted a great eulogy on his instagram too http://instagram.com/p/lGTcO1txHD/
  3. On the Johnny B Badd talk, I never got why he was hated on and never got why Foley was bitter about him being given more money when they came to WWF - Wildman was HOT until he went off with knee surgery and came back as the boxer
  4. I fall in and out of collecting them. I got up to date with Trade #16 but now I'm waaaaaaaaay behind again. Truth is, there's other comics I'd rather be picking up these days
  5. Then the Starrcade '90 main event would have been even worse than it was. On the other hand, the Horsemen-Doom feud would probably have continued. This has gotta be one of those bullshit Scott Keith rumours right? No way in hell Warrior comes into WCW at his peak and as a heel
  6. Cross post from the last topic regarding my main man Barry Windham BrianS81177, on 27 Feb 2014 - 04:32 AM, said: Beach Blast was where he blew out his knee, such a subpar match. In his shoot Windham mentions having cadavar cartilige put in his knee and coming back too early so it didn't take causing it to blow out. Doc and Austin were teaming coz Gordy tried to squeeze Watts for more money so got turfed IIRC. What's people's problem with Windham as the Widowmaker? Apart from how shortlived it was. He was on point and would've been huge imo as he was riding the crest of his peak

  8. Yes please The Illustrated WWE Hall Of Fame http://shortlist.com/cool-stuff/design/the-illustrated-wwe-hall-of-fame
  9. I always had a weird crush on Jacqueline... I think it's maybe coz she'd destroy me. Solid worker and tougher than most of the blokes too
  10. ah c'mon, WOOWOOWOO! was an ace catchphrase in its original iteration. So were the one legged tights
  11. Them reminiscing about making towns, working hard and going out for a few pints of Guiness and a game of darts after sounds like the best time ever. And if you've not seen any of those Marty Jones/Rollerball matches Regal mentioned, run don't walk to Youtube immediately - some of the best wrestling you'll ever see
  12. I'm due a replay of these from scratch but, daft as it sounds, I'm hoping I break my leg or something so I get a lot of time off work to blast through in one go haha. Also, I need to buy them for PS3 but the cost is astronomical for the trilogy set
  13. Been looking for Gary Hart's since I watched the WCCW documentary on Netflix. Fascinating guy I also want to read Lou Thesz's but both of these books are rare as anything
  14. Meng: Stories of the Scariest Man in the History of Wrestling: http://www.mandatory.com/2014/02/19/meng-stories-of-the-scariest-man-in-the-history-of-wrestling/ The teeth story made me cringe
  15. Just finished reading Plunder Squad by Richard Stark. I got into the Parker books via Darwyn Cooke's amazing graphic novel adaptations for IDW, but have been picking and choosing which of the actual books to read - this one was pretty entertaining but kinda went nowhere. The first half was very strong as it has Parker trying to hunt down a character who wronged him from the previous story but the actual heist was abit meh.
  16. Has anyone been reading Brother Lono? I'm not so patiently waiting for the trade but was wondering how it has been?
  17. I was thinking that the other day, it'd be like Sting 97 but with more vitriol
  18. I've just watched that match in work while pretending to listen to PPC calls. Wow, Bock was the man. Always loved what little I've seen of him
  19. I was just reading the 'where are they now' thing about Bart Gunn on the WWE website and was wondering what you think the best Smoking Gunn's matches are? I was never that into them as a kid outside of their finish so might be time for a revisit
  20. I think so, when Flair went into the WWE HOF in 2008 he asked Blackjack to come, since it was in Florida and close enough for him to travel to. I dont necessarily know if they made up but Mulligan went, so that would imply they were at least on okay terms. What was the falling out over? There's a distinct lack of Blackjack Mulligan singles stuff in my collection - I remember reading about his Mid Atlantic fued with Masked Superstar and the matches sounded intense
  21. Right. Watts did a couple other title changes like that to make the house shows seem more important. I can't really get over how Bischoff was the only one who understood Turner wanted ratings not house show numbers, another example of Watts being out of touch. With that said, I remember being excited about Simmons title win because of how surprising it was. Athletically Simmons had it but no way should he have been put in a position to carry a company
  22. any wrestler who goes to Hollywood should play a primadonna when they come back, getting people like Zach Ryder to bring them bottles of room temperature Evian, not leaving their trailers until immediately before their matches and only doing promos in the run up to the big shows - it needs to be a wrestline trope.
  23. I'm sure I heard a rumour he used the song when he made a helicopter entrance at a stadium show once. Y'know, coz it's not awesome enough as it is
