Reed Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 McConaughey turning out to be such an amazing actor makes me wonder what other surprises Hollywood has in store for us in the future. In 10 years, are we going to be talking about how Channing Tatum has his Oscar locked up for his role as a 19th century anti-slavery abolitionist or Megan Fox's superb acting in her new obsessive-FBI-agent-hunts-down-serial-killer show on HBO?
EVA Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Well, McConaughey had shown flashes of greatness early in his career, before he disappeared into the blackhole of rom-coms and easy paychecks and alrightalrightalright.
EVA Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 BROOKLYN NINE-NINE GOT DAMMIT. RENEW IT NOW, FOX. 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I've stayed away from the show because I never liked Samberg.
SovietShooter Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Brooklyn 99 is hilarious. Y'all been sleepin'. 1
EVA Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I've stayed away from the show because I never liked Samberg. Well, then it's definitely not for you, and I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise. It's got a great cast beyond him, but it's definitely Samberg at his Sambergiest.
EVA Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 True that, Leo. All aspiring actors need to check out Bruce Dern's work in DOWN PERISCOPE.
Reed Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Well, McConaughey had shown flashes of greatness early in his career, before he disappeared into the blackhole of rom-coms and easy paychecks and alrightalrightalright. I think acting, like any craft, can be improved on over time. A combination of improving and the fact, like you say, slumming it before probably explains it.

Well, then it's definitely not for you, and I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise. It's got a great cast beyond him, but it's definitely Samberg at his Sambergiest. Then how is it funny? That sounds crazy to me... I guess I have to watch a few eps now.
EVA Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Well, for one thing, you get the legendary Andre Braugher deadpanning Samberg, which is consistently hilarious.
piranesi Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Is it just my cable company or did Tina Fey mentioning warm vaginas cause someone to just break the satellite feed lunging for the delay button?
Raziel Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Wasn't you. EDIT: Hey, the dude with the robotic knee brace from Texas Chainsaw Massacare 4 (the one with cross-dressing Leatherface) just won a Golden Globe.
Reed Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 IMO, the golden globes lost all credibility when they gave frigging MADONNA an award for acting.
piranesi Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Someone please gif Chiwetel doing the "I lost to this guy?" during that speech.
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I guess I need to see Dallas Buyers Club though it's hard to believe its better than Wolf of Wall Street or American Hustle or 12 Years a Slave. 2013 was a good year.
odessasteps Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 IMO, the golden globes lost all credibility when they gave frigging MADONNA an award for acting. You mispelled Pia Zadora.
Raziel Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Did I miss the "In Memoriam" segment, or are they not running it?
piranesi Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Michael Fassbender is just fucking with us, right? Or is there is nothing human behind his eyes?
EVA Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 IMO, the golden globes lost all credibility when they gave frigging MADONNA an award for acting. Oh, they have zero credibility. And they don't even really bother trying to hide it anymore. Seems like every year now the host gets in a few jabs about the voting process.
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I guess I need to see Dallas Buyers Club though it's hard to believe its better than Wolf of Wall Street or American Hustle or 12 Years a Slave. 2013 was a good year. Different performances but my first thought is McConaughey over DiCaprio over Bale.

That sounds crazy to me... I guess I have to watch a few eps now. It's the best comedy on tv by far. I'm struggling to think of anything on right now that is as consistently funny. Of course I like Samburg.
