  1. He was saying collecting Magic cards is stupid though. He likes Baseball cards. When I was in Swansea (more than two decades ago), a few of the LARP guys I knew said they played cards on Thursdays. I assumed that by that, they meant Poker. It was a mistaken assumption. It's the only time I've seen anyone playing Magic. Couldn't make head or tail of any of it. It looked like a load of bollocks.
  2. I never got why people would play those Magic: The Gathering card games. In a world that already had D&D and all the character-based tabletop RPGs, and Warhammer and all the tabletop wargames, why would you choose to play something that's not as interesting as either? Not to mention it's pay to win.
  3. Has David Moyes always had no eyebrows, or did they fall out somehow?
  4. @Curt McGirt Ronda Rousey is dating Travis Browne. Browne's ex-Wife alleged the abuse around the same time he left her/ took up with Ronda.
  5. So I posted that in the wrong thread a few days ago, and I stand by it. But as it turns out, Telltale games, as well as being more tales you are told than games you play as such, are also Trophy farms. I'm used to the thing where like in Dragon Age, there's a trophy for saving the werewolves and a trophy for saving the elves, but it's an either/or decision and you have to play it twice. Whereas literally every trophy in this is: Chapter One Part One, Chapter One Part Two, Chapter One Part Three until you get the Platinum for completing the whole thing once. So, if you have a friend who has made fun of you for trophy hunting and having platinums, and you find out they're playing a Telltale game, it means they either have to quit before they finish, or end up looking like a hypocrite eventually.
  6. I would guess that Rocky winning best picture that year was one of those things that looked inevitable at the time, but history (and sequels) have diminished it, whilst allowing it's opposition to look better and more prescient. Sort of like how when people look back on this year they'll think it's a travesty that La La Land beat Moonlight.
  7. You know how if you get a great writer to write a movie, get a great director to film it, and have a great cast to play it? You'd think that would make it a good movie, if you have all that talent involved, at every level or the planning and performance, right? I just watched The Counsellor. I'd heard it was bad, but I'd assumed that just meant disappointing, and if I went in with low expectations it'd be a pleasant surprise. But no, it sucked a giant hairy arse. Better luck next time, lads.

    The Not-a-cover thread

Pretty easy if you just use one word titles, really.
  9. There's a show called Rellik on the BBC next year. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-05-12/the-missing-writers-go-backwards-with-new-time-bending-murder-mystery-series-rellik
  10. Polynesians have a thing about families, where you can sort of adopt your close friends as your cousins, and then everyone else in the family considers them to be cousins from that part on. And after a few years, you can upgrade your cousins to being your brothers. So that's why Rock refers to him as Uncle King Tonga. Like here:
  11. All the papers today are saying Rooney's off to China. Next Tuesday. He stayed long enough to get the ManU record, and the Chinese transfer league doesn't close until the end of February.
  12. This isn't the Catch-All Thread? I'm sure I was in there when I typed that.
  13. That's not out there yet? It's already in DVD over here. The book's good.
  14. Yeah, exactly. Even though they have a whole massive source material to steal from, they just stick anything in there they think might be cool. They're booking for twitter pops.
  15. This Walking Dead season one is clunky as hell. Are all Telltale games like this? It seems like it's a videogame designed to appeal to people who don't play videogames. Also, I was just playing Last of Us right before and Walking Dead really suffers by comparison.
  16. You get this problem when you have too much Sci and not enough Fi. Most hard science sci-fi movies end up somewhere on the boring/ pretentious arc (like Contact and Interstellar), unless they do a big final act swing into being an action/ horror movie (like Sunshine (Danny Boyle, 2007) did).
