seconded. they've already sat on it for a year or more, on top of however long Fox held onto it for.... genius! i'd watch this in a heartbeat
-
just take the actual WM4 tournament bracket and book it as a shoot.

well fuck. i was actually beginning to think Dana was gonna pull this off

no Fite exclusive stuff this week was a bummer. they even cut during commercial breaks, which they haven't done previously. Jericho on commentary was GOLD all night. the aforementioned fork line was my highlight. Jake promo was an excellent start. Murderhawk squash was perfection. Shida/Brit match was ok. it was quite good by the end, but the first half would've been better at 1.5x speed. Matt Hardy promo was good enough. coincidence that last week someone here brought up the Matt Hardy dumpster fire thread and this week he makes a reference? Brodie Lee squash was great. i was surprised to see the Dark Order tag team was 4-0 or 5-0 and the #1 contenders. if they keep doing this vignettes, i would like to see more with Brodie, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, and the recruiter dude. everything feels very disconnected but i'm still interested enough to see where it goes. main event was good. best Spears has looked in AEW in ages

the fight is also for the Interim Lightweight Title. you know, the belt that Ferguson won over 2 years ago but never got a unification match and then got stripped of? the rest of this whole situation is batshit insane. i can barely believe this is real life. a private island? not telling the fighters where the location is? fights every week? (in my neck of the woods, all gyms are closed. i can't imagine these guys are getting the best training and practice available)

NWA (Current Version) Discussion
twiztor replied to Doghouse Reilly's topic in FEDS JUST TRYING TO MAKE A BUCK
that's cool, but i wish they would show the ill-fated NWA Showcase series that lasted like 10 episodes back in 2008. Dave Marquez owns that footage and it's largely unavailable elsewhere. -
OK, Metroid has officially become one of my favorite video game series. i just finished up Super Metroid. holy shit, is that a great game. took 10hr, 3 min. finished at 78%. I'd say that's not bad for a first time playthrough with no assistance. This game improves everything that the first two games lay out. I can't get over just how solid this game is. It has a reputation of being a masterpiece, and it earns every bit of that praise. And that final boss fight is.....emotional (!).

i am shocked that definitive spoilers haven't leaked out yet. i don't mean just finishes. i mean like answering questions such as "what is a boneyard match", "what is WWE doing to present this as special", and "who does Shane beat this year'?

i don't know if a tiger would take a Canadian Destroyer, so i'll give even odds

i finished by original Human Torch (Jim Hammond) read. the Golden Age stuff was exactly what you'd expect. the same basic story, with slight variations, told dozens of times. they're generally fine, but kind of a slog when you read them for extended periods. the Silver Age stuff (his reappearance in F4, the Invaders v1 series) was very good. the Invaders series in particular is definitely a highlight of this project. the 80s-90s stuff (West Coast Avengers, Namor, Heroes for Hire, misc) varied in quality pretty wildly. WCA was very forgettable. They added him as a character mainly to play off Vision, so he played very little actual role in the title. The Namor stuff was a followup from that. Heroes for Hire kept him as mainly a background character but the stories were fun and it was a good read. the 00s stuff was a collection of a number of Invaders-adjacent miniseries. again, the quality varied but stayed fairly high. The "All-New Invaders" run by James Robinson was the highlight. Also, "the Twelve", which didn't star Torch but featured a number of other revived Golden Age heroes, was especially fun. definitely did not live up to the other deep dive reads i've done (Batman, X-Men), but then again i didn't expect it to. Quantity alone dictates that. But i am glad i went down this road.

i've got tickets to the Cubs/Rays on July 4th and 5th, so i am in favor of whatever plan gets the season open by then!

a second DWI? that's inexcusable. and i think maybe the state my not know what "mandatory" means: i also don't see anything about a suspended license. i know it varies state-to-state, but here, a 2nd offense means you lose your license for a full year. i know he lost it for a period of time after the first, so i thought that would be included. Elsalvaje, you mention the year's probation being the big point, but for his October DC charge, he got a six month probation. This newest offense falls within that limit and there's seemingly very little in the way of consequences. if this is all due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Jones has to be the luckiest man alive as far as getting out of trouble he should be in.

Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson Appreciation.
twiztor replied to The Natural's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
it's a shame Danielson got injured and never won the NWA belt during this "Reclaiming the Glory" tournament timeframe. -
once the TNT brackets are revealed, are we doing some sort of prediction competition?
-
if Khabib/Ferguson is off the card, there's no reason for it to go on. time to cancel.

and now Metroid II is completed! much like the first, i didn't think much of it early but investing time made me really appreciate and enjoy it. unlike the first, this seemed to be very linear early on. IT IS NOT. i had to resort to an online map as i was fooled until it was too late. the limitations of the gameboy made for quite a few "leaps of faith" in the vertical areas. odd use of music as well- some places it was practically nonexistent while others it was heavy and forboding.

MAR 2020 WRESTLING DISCUSSION
twiztor replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
PUPPIES! -
i am interested in the discussion about this, but not enough to actually watch TNA matches.
-
i always heard it was his short run/feud/match with Raven in ECW that made WWF brass think he was viable.

my unpopular opinion: i think the Brawl 4 All tournament was fun. yes, it was a terrible idea with bad execution. yeah, banking on Williams winning was a poor choice (in both fore- and hindsight). yes, killing Bart Gunn's momentum because he dared to win a shoot tournament was monumentally stupid. and yes, the crowds rightly shit all over it. but seeing something unapologetically different, something that felt like it had real stakes, something unpredictable, was FUN. at least for me.

made it my mission to beat the original Metroid this weekend. had played it minimally until now. once i hit my stride, i freaking loved this game. hand made my own maps for maximum enjoyment. had to reference my old ass strategy guide for 2-3 things but otherwise this was a blind run. tons of fun. i want to play this all over again but may jump right into the gameboy sequel
-
i am interested in this too. i always assumed it had something to do with an NWA World title reign, but i have zero basis for that speculation.
-
a straight tragedy this never got released in the States. very much wish it had a place on my movie shelf. nice pickups, BTW. have all 3 on dvd and they get plenty of use. Batman in particular is an all-time great series.

WCW only aired it in clips, but WWE released it on the Network under Hidden Gems.

i thought it was Norman Smiley, but i'm not 100% on that
