  1. I was talking with a co-worker who's reading Blood Meridian about how bleak of a story it is. Just not a hint of hope. Got home, and decided to watch Before the Devil Knows You're Dead on a whim. Wow. More bleakness. Great movie, but not one iota of hopefulness in there. Dang. Need to find me something wholesome to watch.
  2. I remember seeing Chris Evans be awesome in Knives Out and being so glad he was going to get away from Marvel and start making some awesome movies. So far, little disappointed.
  3. I remember going to a house show in 96* and getting fairly close to Michaels and being shocked at how small he was. *It was this show:
  4. And the sale had the backing of several Sandy Hook families. Makes it even sweeter.
  5. I'd say Hogan pre-1987 or so is a lot of fun. His matches are very chaotic. He'd bleed a ton, and there was a lot of movement in them. Once he fell into his formula, that's where things go downhill.
  6. That New York Post interview with Mox that someone here shared has him laying out what he's going for fairly well. And, yes, I agree that it needs to be shown/said on AEW TV for it to be a real explanation. But, it basically boils down to, he doesn't like how complacent some of the wrestlers in AEW have become, so he's targeting them. That's why he's going after Dark Order and Top Flight and not Osprey or the Callis Family or the Hurt Syndicate. IMO, it's just a fairly straightforward angle that probably got deluded a lot when Mox said they were "taking over". I think this brings up a good point. We have a ton of media in the last few years that requires you to "keep up". You need to see all of the episodes/movies, and you need to see them in order, and if you miss even one, you're going to be lost. I'm not saying that's bad. I LOVE a lot of stuff that's like that. But, I think that's trained us that we need to see every second of every episode of wrestling. I just can't do that. I mostly watch on delay and fast-forward through things that don't interest me. Some weeks, if I'm not feeling it, I just don't watch. Nothing wrong with feeling like you need to see everything, or even just wanting to see everything. I just wouldn't stress over it.
  7. You must be doing something right.
  8. I'm pretty much the exact size as you, and yes, it's considered obese. Luckily, it doesn't effect any work or insurance related things for me. I've had like three different doctors tell me that BMI is bullshit, too. So crappy that a totally bogus number can really screw people over.
  9. Step into my office, cause you’re fucking fired!
  10. I saw the first MI when it came out, and then just didn't watch any of them. This past year, my son and I have watched them all. Just an amazing series of movies of the kind I wish we got more of. I got serious chills on the new trailer from that shot of Cruise hanging off the yellow biplane. Damn.
  11. That's a case where I'd be way more interested in hearing the ones that didn't win than the one that does.
  12. *raises hand* The only consolation is that I have Lamar, but it's going to be a tight week.
  13. I'm going to start a Go Fund Me for AEW wrestlers to buy better self-tanner.
  14. When he did the repeated backbreakers, I told my son, "I'm going to do that to you!" He had missed it, so I rewound to show him. As it's playing again, my wife walks in and says, "That looks like something you'd do to him."
  15. Yeah, Brodie is Gordy. That works. But, Buddy isn't really Buddy is he? No one's really Buddy Roberts in wrestling these days. Also, it's funny that a spooky group has a guy named Buddy in it.
  16. Saying you'd rather see Dustin Rhodes wrestle than someone is the most in-line take a person can have here at DVDVR. It's as not-hot as the water in the Dungeon of Doom.
  17. Somehow is a contradiction, but also works.
  18. Counterpoint: Bobby Heenan might be the best all-around performer in wrestling history. Was great as a wrestler, as a manager and as an announcer. Did he fall off as an announcer near the end? Yes. But when he was on, he was goddamn on.
  19. Two things: 1. At first I saw "Cook" as "Cock", so I don't know what that says about me. 2. Is it pronounced "Jobe Jobe"?
  20. Jesus. Grow the fuck up.
  21. I think Richardson was drafted for what he might become more than what he'd shown. I mean, I guess that goes for every draft pick, but you know. He seemed to be a high-upside guy. Haven't shown that yet, but I don't think he can be written totally off.
  22. I've caught my son going around the house singing the "diggity-dog, dig, diggity-dog" No Mercy menu music multiple times now. That shit does stick in your head.
  23. I'm hoping Fincher is just a producer on this. If he's directing, knock it off and give us more Mindhunter, dammit!
  24. I would hope that in saying that out loud, it means they're going to do something about it.
  25. I think Chris Bey is maybe the most underrated wrestler going today. Hope he can recover and more people can see what he can do!
