  1. Honestly, there are probably half a dozen gangster films better than Black Mass that have came out in the last couple years: The Town, The Departed, The Drop (I'm sensing a theme here...) but I still appreciated the acting. EDIT: God's Pocket needs to be mentioned here. It's like the film that should never have been but is.
  2. We've already been through this before, but no love for Terry Funk's book?
  3. I could try and keep up, at least. And yes, my #1. with a bullet is Andre the motherfucking Giant. My 2 is Terry because he has great stories and seems like a fun drunk instead of a crazy drunk. Number 3... Bobby Heenan. Or Gordon Solie. EDIT: Oh yeah! Since you guys mentioned the Jericho book, definitely Curt Hennig.
  4. At this point I'm wondering what they haven't remade from the '80s/early '90s that ruled my childhood. The Lost Boys? The Goonies? (oh shit I better stop talking they're probably watching) By the way, watching The Goonies with a ton of kids and nostalgic adults in a parking lot recently was one of the best things ever.
  5. Black Mass was pretty good, maybe not as gritty as I wanted (for a film with a guy strangling the shit out of people, still), but good. Johnny Depp plays Dracula for apparently the second time in the last five years and has a very good Renfield to second him. In retrospect I could have waited for the DVD but it saved my ass from being drowned in a storm tonight so I can't complain. Also has closing credits identical to Straight Outta Compton, which was weird considering that was the last film I saw in the exact same theater. EDIT: Oh, and there are scenes I wanted to cackle at but didn't want to come off like a total madman in the room. There was at least one that everyone else got with me on, but I resisted otherwise. My sense of humor isn't that of most others.
  6. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x955fs_njpw-hirooki-goto-vs-giant-bernard_sport The first part (of three, you know how to find the rest) of his New Japan Cup Final against Goto, which I remember being really good. And then there were all of those times he powerbombed the shit out of Tanahashi really hard on the ring apron but those seem to have spoilers embedded in the screencaps on Youtube so search at your own peril. Oh and then there were all those... questionable moments (the things a man does to provide for his family)
  7. We always say "this is gonna crush me", this and that about movies around here, but this really is. And I'm gonna watch it at the Art or on DVD and cry my fucking eyes out. The guy sounds like the Bill Hicks I never knew, and the backstory and eventual revelation is so so strong (EDIT: FUCKING HORRIBLE). This should be the movie to make people wake up about Bobcat being a great filmmaker, and the topic it eventually results in.
  8. That just made me think of what we would get if someone did an Elric of Melnibone movie (which has been tried) and how much I'd probably hate it. EDIT: Well, unless it was animated by Michael Whelan.
  9. The business model of the recording industry has always been and always will be a slow, extended period of highway robbery/pimping. In the film industry they actually seem worried about whether they will succeed or fail, at least.
  10. Party. Pooper. I feel so sorry for him. One of the worst backstories for a wrestler ever and THIS is what he's saddled with. It's like the story of Job.
  11. Funny, because looking at that picture I immediately thought "where's his other hand at?"
  12. I have no idea if this is one of the files posted that seem to already be missing for whatever reason, but the match is awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmZPc6fsyKI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyJSOMFl2gg EDIT: Didn't post the end to this fantastic moment. I had to go look it up on the external and it's missing for whatever reason so I had to threaten the gods of Verizon and go ahead and watch it on Youtube, and sure enough, the end on the file I had was missing. It's Akira and Mr. Akira and of all people Takayama and Kojima and Mutoh and a very dapper looking Fuchi and freakin' Kikutaro getting in the ring for a family photo with the Hokuto clan. After Kensuke beat the shit out of his kid and vice versa, of course. The only person who didn't show up was Tenryu, who busted up Kobashi's mouth and kept throwing water bottles at him then left in disgust, like a true professional wrestler. Million Billion Stars. Oh shit, and I forgot, TAKA Michinoku in the back with his crew hanging on the ropes while he clowns them as the disruptive fool he's always been. Fan-fucking-tastic.
  13. Colbert won me back with Run The Jewels tonight. Toby Keith can go burn in a fire, Killer Mike and El-P with a full backup band crushes.
  14. You make more money than I do. I gotta save shit up to go see Black Mass on Friday.
  15. Great, now I want to watch every single episode of Dinner for Five with Jon Favreau again because of that New Day video.
  16. If the Lucha Underground guys can't get the money together to do another season, can we just get PWG in an armory somewhere on El Rey instead?
  17. Poor Cheeseburger is still jobbing, even in an online conversation about black guys in ROH.
  18. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE UPLOAD THAT SKYSCRAPERS/STEINERS MATCH ON YOUTUBE AGAIN. PLEASE.
  19. I had to after you said you did and I have no idea what could possess a person to make that. Oh yeah nevermind it's this guy:
  20. Was Hardcore made by the dudes that did that one music video posted here that I want to say was Russian? Same POV, guy killing people stuff.
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnaQRLllOUY Colossal. Tenryu is starting with his surly phase here, Jumbo is full in on his, and Stan's has existed forever. Every move Tenryu hits is far stiffer than his latter period (there's a slap to Kobashi that would cause whiplash), all his enziguiris connect and even his powerbomb is pretty good. Speaking of Kobashi, this is kind of his coming out party as he gets to dropkick everyone in the face and work his ass off to prove his worth.
  22. http://dailygrindhouse.com/thewire/calamity-janes-revenge-2015/ The things you find online. Al Snow is an actor in an indie Western. Go figure.
  23. Yeah the camera stuff was weird but it's not like a kung fu movie where you want to pull back and watch the artistry. It was a little egregious though. What I want to know is because I fell asleep, did they cut anything out of the show after the Raw match.
