  1. Thank you for taking a bullet for the team. I will never ever ever try to witness that
  2. I know some people despise or only tolerate Woody (like my dad, who unbelievably sat through all of the first season of True Detective), but I like him and Wilson looks like it's gonna be fun. And Youth In Oregon is gonna make me cry for no reason
  3. I can't find the X-Pac one but that is pretty creepy. EDIT: This might be even more disturbing
  4. Nowhere close to the Good Guy Doll mask from Child's Play. If someone came up on me with that I'd run. Now I need the Motorhead Snaggletooth and Fulci Zombie ones so I can hang them on my wall
  5. Because I got these in the mail today too I had no idea Algy Ward from Tank played bass on the latter Also, if you haven't heard that before, you should really really listen to it. It's like Damned's version of London Calling, only (IMO) better.
  6. In a drastic constrast in styles, the two metal albums I got in the mail today (the punk ones were Black Flag - The First Four Years and The Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette -- still different but not as far removed as these) were: and Yep. BTW, that otter-man whatever thingamamascot of Riot's is way creepier to look at real big on vinyl. And it's a painting?! I kinda feel like Stewie on Family Guy freaking out over the cover to Queen's News of the World when I look at it, only not as strong of a reaction.
  7. Oh man, they should at least have Tajiri walk up then pan back to the look of dread on Regal's face before Bryan tells him to go sit back down
  8. BTW, everyone -- EVERYONE -- has to watch this if they haven't seen it before. If you thought Stan Hansen was huge before, look at him next to Andre. It's absurd how big the man actually was, and that just underlines how enormous Andre was, when he's grabbing Stan's arms and getting ready to make a wish.
  9. Exactly what Rippa said. I mean "contenders" will be fun, but that's going nowhere.
  10. A.C. covering Sabbath (and "Abra Cadabra"). In spoiler tags because their full name is prominently displayed. Seth Putnam may have been horrible in many ways but his band could actually play when they wanted to. Hydra Head actually did six volumes of split 7" Sabbath covers, so if you ever wanted to hear Converge or Brutal Truth play Sabbath, or maybe Soilent Green mashing up "Lord of This World", "Sign of the Southern Cross", and "Disturbing the Priest", get to it
  11. I'll vouch for the OMG/Abby match. IIRC the crown was pretty shocked at the gore.
  12. You know JR wasn't gonna shit on the match that got six stars and was vetted as the first thing to introduce the new season of NJPW. And yes, we should clone Brian Hildebrand, and Ted Tanabe while we're at it.
  13. The Tony conversation is reminding me how much Bobby Heenan eviscerated him in his book. Apparently he was always playing politics, though playing politics in WCW if you aren't getting paid not to work was ridiculous, and was a complete asshole. I think Bobby even said he never had dinner with the guy though they worked together for years. Heyman saying he couldn't make talent in time was an excuse for the fact that he had burnt so many people that his heart wasn't in it and he was looking for an escape route, which he found in WWF. His plans were for his bottom line and not anybody else's at the end.
  14. I've said this before but me and Zeidler get a ton of classic film showings due to Champaign-Urbana being Roger Ebert's hometown. Everything is digital now (and some of it is freakin' streaming downloads) but I've got to see some great stuff -- The Thing (1982), Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, Night of the Living Dead, the list goes on. It's kept our local Art Theater (which is the actual name of the place) open after ditching their projector and modifying their business model to a co-op; the Virginia Theater as well. Even the local chains get in on the action once in a blue moon. Speaking of Cat 'o Nine Tails... yeah, not Argento's best.
  15. After rewatching, there is no way to beat the FUTEN match. As much as I love bloody Lucha brawls (this is like Sophie's Choice for me), FUTEN wins. Go out of your way to buy the IWRG match from Black Terry Jr. and go out of your way to watch the FUTEN match. You will not be disappointed either way and you need to see both.
  16. It was as solid as expected. No bitching about closed fists from JR and Barnett was air-tight on covering holds and moves as ever. The match is my complaint, and you can read about that in the other thread if you want.
  17. That would probably be a better match than what I just watched.
  18. WORLD PRO WRESTLING 1/13/17 WRESTLE KINGDOM 11 -- "SIX STARS"... FEATURING OKADA AND OMEGA. AND JOSH BARNETT AND JIM ROSS Well, to start, the Terminator gimmick is way more fitting than "the Cleaner". Gedo apparently wearing leggings/hose or something is funny. Now it's time to lay back and let the next hour unfold, for better or worse. Verdict: WORSE. I was with this until Okada decided to just go on offense after eating the most violent missile dropkick to the back of his head ever. I stuck around through the exploding table and the Avalanche Dragon that should have ended ANY match. And then after that they just spam us with legit finishers for another, what, 20 minutes? Any single one of Omega's knees would have ended any match. This isn't Crossfit wrestling, it's superhero wrestling. They could have went with a story about Okada's back and instead went with All Japan '90s headdropping, only with better strikes. Don't get me wrong, it was plenty entertaining, but the best and most painful spot (out of a thousand) was the simplest one: Omega bodyslams Okada back-first into the apron. And that was well before they went batshit. Overkill defined, this one; enjoy it in bits and pieces.
  19. Remake Trespass with Diesel and Statham as the firefighters. You pick where to fit in the Rock. Dirtying him up and making him the bum would make me laugh my ass off.
  20. Hold up -- since I haven't been able to watch the regular episodes airing due to work, what is Lucha Classics? Are they just gonna replay the best matches from the previous seasons?
