I've actually talked to a number of wrestling fans and workers living in India, both native and non, and the general gist is that the Indian fans truly only care about "their own" natives - they want to cheer Indians from India, not necessarily those from other countries that happen to be of Indian descent. As such, they love Khali, but don't really care much about Jinder since he's actually Canadian. For that reason alone, I think this is a completely misguided idea, and they're crazy if they think the country's suddenly going to give a shit about WWE - even if they DID get behind Jinder, they would be getting behind ONLY Jinder, and the instant they took the title off him, they'd be done.

I truly do appreciate the work Jinder has put in to improving himself and his ring work to the point WWE considers him a viable World champion. I just don't want to actually see it.

DANIEL BRYAN *IS* WRESTLING AGAIN
Michael Sweetser replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
Do you have a link about this? I'm not doubting it, I'd like more info. I hadn't heard this before. My father actually used to play semi-pro soccer overseas and he would complain of the occasional headache after games where he did a lot of headers (he played forward). -
I don't know why I expected anything but a boring and plodding six hours of The SummerSlam, but as usual, even when I have low expectations, WWE finds a way to disappoint me. This Jinder bullshit needs to fucking end.

Stuff. Not good. Not bad. Just...stuff.

Referees aren't fully blind, just selectively blind. It's a bizarre blind spot that keeps moving. Someone should probably do some medical research into it. It might be a bigger issue than CTE.- 2,468 replies

I took part in DOA's 24-hour event this past weekend to raise money for school supplies for the Wattles Boys & Girls Club in Portland. This photo was after my final match, teaming with "Top Choice" Todd Royce (formerly Skag Rollins) vs. DOA tag team champions Derek Drexl & Udo. After a rather energetic brawl around the ringside area (including delivering my first and last chairshots to Drexl) I ended up tapping out to Drexl's Koji Clutch. So close to the "DOA tag team heavyweight wrestling championship of the DOA", as Todd put it, but so far. Also busted my lip pretty good on a mistimed clothesline (which was totally my fault) but it turned out to be one of the better matches I've had, and definitely one of the most fun - it took me pretty far out of my comfort zone and it was a great experience. And if you think I won even one match the entire day, you're out of your mind. (That's then-DOA Grand champion Mike Santiago flipping the bird in the background. Jerk.)

Love the title of the thread, because hey, fuck us for giving a shit about someone's long-term health, right? -
It was already known before the G1 that the winner would put the title shot up for grabs at least once. Naito said in a post-G1 interview (The Lion Marks were nice enough to translate) that he chose Ishii for the defense, and that he was only doing one so there'd actually be intrigue over the result.

No, but Edge and ADR did, for the World title - Edge's last title defense before his retirement shortly thereafter. -

The Razor-Diesel stuff on that show was really good, though. Plus, Bret vs. Owen in the cage. -

Raw Is THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU FINN - 8/14/2017

Honestly, I felt that the Asuka-Nia matches were very clunky. Bayley had the right formula to make Nia look like a worldbeater but still come out ahead at the end. It felt like a real fight from underneath. -
To me, the piledriver on the table looked like Omega kicking his legs knocked Naito off balance just enough to fuck up the landing. Thank god it didn't end up as bad as it could've. (This is why you stay still during a move like that, kids.) I think the DDT on the top would've been less obvious if Naito's head went into the top of the post instead of the side - may have just been a victim of a bad camera angle.

The only person in either WWE or NXT that's gotten a good match out of Nia is Bayley. -
AUGUST 2017 WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

Because one thing online wrestling people have never had is a sense of self-awareness. -
Observer posted about it and cited GFW's concern with Alberto's long-term behavior, which would literally be the first time in TNA's history that they gave a shit about that (I'm looking at you, Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle). Still, good on GFW to decide to pull the trigger even though the police investigation turned up otherwise; a LOT of other places would've just turned away from it. Maybe it's a sign GFW's finally getting their act together (although I wouldn't bet cash money on that).

We lost my father-in-law on the 30th, one day before my wife's birthday. Needless to say, things have been.. not fun lately. So much estate stuff to deal with, but at least the will was taken care of well ahead of time and things are about as straightforward as they can get in this situation.

AUGUST 2017 WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD
Michael Sweetser replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
The first time I saw that was Bigelow/Headshrinkers vs. Tatanka/Smokin' Gunns at SummerSlam '94 (which is a HIGHLY underrated match, just for the triple diving headbutt spot). I remember sitting there thinking "Why the heck hasn't anyone else thought of that before?" If I had to hazard a guess, Flair's issues are sounding heart-related - surgery could've been as simple as putting a stent in. My own father went through the same thing a couple of years ago and it was scary for a bit (especially since the nurse accidentally triggered his vagus nerve shortly after surgery and caused him to faint in front of us on the hospital bed - it only lasted about ten seconds but those ten seconds were an eternity) -
Thank you! Time to see what I can rip off^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hsteal^H^H^H^H^Htake inspiration from.

Ohyeah, I have no issue with that - nor do I want it to go back to the way it was. It's more that it's been turned up to 11, when they'd be just fine at 10.
