  1. I think I was lucky in that I was able to buy Ronnie as a top guy, because I didn't start watching American wrestling until that the summer of that year, when I discovered the Midnights (who quickly became my favorites due to the squashes). Don't know if I would have enjoyed as much if the 8-yr or 9-yr old me saw Ronnie as a midcarder. Also don't think it's fair to lump WCW Savage in with Hogan- WCW Savage did a lot,and was willing to put folks over. I remember him even putting Chris Adams over once (albeit by DQ).
  2. Julius Peppers is doing pretty good this year at 37.
  3. It doesn't have to be Okada-Omega to be good, and Jericho's diminished but he's not 2006 Flair out there. Ibushi-Omega can still happen later.
  4. If they wanted to try face Miz again, having Miz's weak point be his wife and making that the thing that fires Miz up to fight would be one way to do it.
  5. To me, that was pretty babyface of Miz- though babyface Miz will be forever ruined for me due to Guile-ford.
  6. I felt the same way as a kid- I just couldn't take Buck all that seriously, I didn't think anything to do with Col.Parker at all- it just felt third-rate. At least the Dangerous Alliance actually seemed dangerous.
  7. Sent a message to him on Twitter the night before wishing him the best as they had sent a message saying he was in bad shape. He replied to everyone who wished him well in the past- he seemed to be a really nice guy and class act all around, just like Heenan. Memphis and Lance was as much a part of my formative fandom as was World Class- which is why Super Clash III was as big as the Flair/Funk/Steamboat stuff was in 89. Really sad day all around.
  8. and now for the first time a baseball player joined in on the protests- Bruce Maxwell with the A's. I know there's a no-politics rule here, but the level of vitriol from Trump supporters at these perfectly peaceful protests shows how much things like this hurt them, which is why they need to keep happening. The goal is to have the rest of America view supporting what Trump represents as anti-American, and eventually isolating those folks from the political process.
  9. Does anyone here know how good Wrestlecade is as an event- decided to pick that event over Starcade for that weekend. My main goals are seeing Penta and Fenix in person, and getting something for a friend from Johnny Mundo.
  10. FotNS is too manly for anyone on Smackdown not named Rusev.
  11. Also on Twitter saw Michael Hayes offered Cody a chance to tag with Goldust on the show if he wanted to come back one night only.
  12. Non-Rooster Taylor would have never gotten past the lower midcard, but his career wouldn't be ruined. His WCW run would be a bit more successful, but I don't think there are any huge changes from Taylor not being the Rooster.
  13. Young Bucks would probably do ok owning TNA. Probably means bringing in Omega and Scruill and getting to be a branch of New Japan, and you now win by pinfall, submission, or landing 10 superkicks in a match.
  14. Very risky in the current environment. Plus folks would bring out Sinclair's links to Trump. It could lead to some ROH fans boycotting the show- my guess is ROH fans aren't the folks who would boo the Progressive Liberal, and are closer to Chikara fans. I've already decided I would not see any ROH shows here because of the Sinclair links now- same reason I don't shop at Roses.
  15. I think there's a huge difference between stiffing someone/being way too stuff and deliberately trying to injure someone. The first can at least be considered somewhat accidental, the second is just deliberately hurting someone. You could argue Sexy wanted to break her arm, Vader didn't plan on breaking someone's back and Hansen didn't plan on popping someone's eye out.
  16. ESPN had a deal with World Class as well. I remember watching reruns of old WCCW shows coming back from the school in the late 80s. Bill Watts getting the Superstation slot would be an interesting timeline. One crazy idea, would Lawler have accepted the Ronnie Garvin spot in 86 to become a World Champion?
  17. Overall, I don't see why Corny would have a big issue with Grado- he's a comedy face, but he's also shown he can do serious wrestling - at least outside of the US. I'm actually kinda surprised WWE didn't pick him up.
  18. Also didn't Fale beat Naito as well? Usually everyone who beats the winner gets a shot at the briefcase.
  19. You could book the King of the Ring into a Summerlong version of the G1. have matches every week: 9 matches a show for the 10 folks on each side (Smackdown might have to put 1 or 2 matches on the network). Raw side: Braun, Roman, Dean, Seth, Miz, Joe, Balor, Cesaro, Sheamus, Bray Smackdown side: AJ, Owens, Sami, Big E, Xavier, Nakamura, Cena, Orton, Rusev, Corbin throw in one tag team on each side to let them fight it out. the final is the semi-main at Summerslam. The winner gets guaranteed #30 in the Rumble and can choose who is #1.
  20. Feel the same way. The ending brawl was perfect LU as well, and why it's just so much fun to watch.
  21. Dominic is trying to enter the business- or maybe now as a grown man he's expected to protect his sisters/mom from muggers and such, but not the WWU.
  22. And also because Killshot isn't exactly that much of a babyface either.
  23. It looks like Kenny compensated for him being out at least. Probably should have just pinned him or cranked in some sort of low-effort sub so the ref can say he passed out, but I'm not going to call him super dangerous or anything due to that.
