  1. How fitting that the worst LotR movie and the worst movie of the original Star Wars trilogy are back-to-back (and have almost the same name). Interesting that the first LotR movie seems to be the high ratest one. My favorite movie of the trilogy was The Two Towers. It has much better pacing than Fellowship and it builds to a single climax, the battle at the end, a battle that does not do way too much (and goes on way too long) as the battle in RotK. Plus it has awesomeness like Christopher Lee, Rohan looking as perfect as it gets and the best Gollum stuff of the trilogy. The only deviation of the book that really hurts is the Entmoot.
  2. Jeffrey Combs looks like Larry Zbyszko (at least when seen from the side).
  3. I would not blame Dunaway either. From her point-of-view Beatty was goofing around and while he was handing her the card she took a very quick glance on the card, saw "La La Land" and announced it as the winner.
  4. The Good Place:
  5. Wikipedia (yeah, I know) says Obama had 65.9 Mio. in 2012 while Clinton has 62.5 Mio (last number is by the APA). It's more like Trump is matching the Romney number from 2012 (Trump 61.2 Mio, Romney 60.9 Mio.). By tjhe way: how is Michigan still too-close-to call 11 days after the election?
  6. My official job title is "software quality engineer for embedded systems", translated this means I mainly (80% of my time) do software test automation for Linux software that is supposed to control some hardware stuff. The remaining 20% I do things like software requirements engineering and misc project organization tasks.
  7. I completely subscribe to the theory that Nintendo is constraining supply.
  8. As I was curious about this I did a simplified calculation how the election result would have been if splitting the electoral votes per state relative to the popular vote (treating all third party candidates as one party) and ended up with the following result: Trump 256 electoral votes total (or 47.58 % of them - popular vote was 47.30 %) Clinton 258 electoral votes total (or 47.95 % of them - popular vote was 47.75 %) Others 24 electoral votes total (or 4.46 % of them - popular vote was 4.95 %) So this system would be a very good approximation of the popular vote (still a bit discriminating to the third party candidates, though this might be a coincidence). None candidate would have the 270 electoral votes, so they would have to arrange with the third party people to get electected (I guess most of the third party electoral votes would go to Gary Johnson).
  9. Are there any numbers of how many first and second generation Cuban immigrants voted for Trump and how many for Clinton? I'm sure this group was not very keen on voting for the party that made "peace" with the Castros.
  10. At least "who is Donald Trump?" is not a leading search on Google right now. Though I am not sure if that makes this better or worse...
  11. Just get rid of the insane "the winner takes it all" rule and split the electoral vote relative to the popular vote and the result of the popular vote will be much more likely the same as the electoral college without having to get rid of the electoral college. Though as this would open the doors for third party candidates to at least get some electoral vote in the huge states this would threaten the two-party system and will therefore never happen.
  12. The "mobile multiplayer" stuff where two or more people are sitting in front of a tiny tablet and use super tiny controllers looks really stupid.
  13. My rankings for Portland Disc 1: Buddy Rose vs. Rick Martel (2/3 falls) (4/26/80) Buddy Rose vs. Rick Martel (2/3 falls) (5/10/80) Roddy Piper & Rick Martel vs. Luke Williams & Butch Miller (2/3 Falls) (5/31/80) Harley Race vs. Rick Martel (2/3 Falls) (1/12/80) Buddy Rose & Ed Wiskowski vs. Roddy Piper & Rick Martel (2/3 Falls) (8/2/80) Roddy Piper & Rick Martel vs. Luke Williams & Butch Miller (2/3 Falls) (5/3/80) Ed Wiskowski vs. Rick Martel (2/3 Falls) (7/12/80) Buddy Rose vs. Butch Miller (2/3 Falls) (6/7/80)
  14. Talking about Stringer Bell: today on work I had to write minutes for meeting where I was highly reminded of this classic:
  15. If you thought the first book is slow paced you should stop right there as it gets much worse later on. I gave up somewhere in book 6.
  16. So PS 4.5 will be called PS 4 Pro, come out on November, 10th and cost 400 $ / €. Features will be about what was already suspected. HDR will already be supported on the "normal" PS4. The new "smaller" PS4 will come out in a week and will cost 300 $ / €.
  17. I suppose most people will have Flair vs. Colon in the top 3 of disc 1 and Pastores vs. Youngbloods in the bottom 3 of disc 1, except that much will depend on personal preferences, experiences and mood when watching the matches. Examples: - I have not seen much 80ies wrestling period, so Flair vs. Dusty and Flair vs. lower ranked wrestler was fresh to me which is why Flair vs Dusty and Flair vs. Gilbert is relatively high up the list. - I am still having problems accepting that the faces take so much of the matches which is why I have ranked the second Colon vs. Abby match, even though it was entertaining (Abby took three flip bumps) very low, as the match consisted of Colon beating up and squashing Abby for 15 minutes without hardly any heel offense.
  18. My Puerto Rico disc 1 rankings:
  19. And the money distribution is changed HEAVILY in favor of the big clubs.
  20. It is funny that to win gold 1.97 m was enough while in the heptathlon two athletes passed 1.98 m. The lowlight of track'n'field was the 800 m women's run. How Semenya and Wambui pass as women is beyond me. I have never heard Wambui talk but Semenya even has a voice like a man.
  21. Rio gave out lots and lots of comps, problem is people still did not show up. For example they gave out 280k free tickets for children and not even half of them showed up. Another funny thing is that 7% of people that buy tickets at the door don't enter the respective statiums but apparently only use them to enter the Olympic Park.
  22. The US women will get a rerun tonight and have to beat the time of China to qualify for the finals.
  23. What the hell is doing Tyson Gay in Rio? 4 years ago the relay got disqualified due to him doping and now he is nominated again? Okay, he is now much slower than he was before being banned, so I assume he is clean(er), but still. I mean it is not like he qualified at the trials.
  24. Funny that they went away from the old point system to the ten point to get rid of these obviously bought decisions (at least that was the official reasoning).
  25. Apparently there was a much worse decision yesterday in the heavyweight gold medal bout between a Russian and a Kazakh.
