  1. Understand that my web browser of choice has the DVDVR main page set as its homepage. So Everyday it was open the browser, see the Board was still down and then go back to work. Then suddenly even the front page as gone and I became worried. Would DEAN, and The Phils just pack up and leave without saying a word to the faithful? I mean I'm friends with Rippa on FB and while I do like hearing about his domestic life every now and then I'd think he'd let someone know the dream was over. Then we an update happened (Matt D is THE MAN!). I let Zac-Fu know and he cam a runnin' too. Now the Board is back and all is right in the Universe again. I love this stupid little corner of the Internet... James
  2. I'd like to venture int othe Sports folder now and then, but my casual sports fan knowledge will surely get me killed! James

  4. Man, how did I forgetthat... oh well then I got nothing. Still, it will be a fun tourney. James
  5. I have always had a deep love for "Jive Soul Bro" despite its blatantly racist music video. Scorpio's WCW theme remains the best theme of that period imo, I just dug the hell out of it. Seriously though, when it comes WWF 80s themes Dibiase's is king. The evil laugh on "Everybody's Got a Price" makes it aces. For sheer entertainment value, the cover of The Big Boss Man's theme on that All Japan CD is hilarity unto itself and is right up there with that cover of Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone" on the same disc. James
  6. Home Jersey impressed me because it was all flashy and showed me the shiny but Black Board Ringer showed me what love for the board was. I can never go back now. James
  7. and the kick off to season 5, after they resolve the storyline that closed season 4 (not going to spoil anything for my boy Zac), with Bartlett taking on the new Speaker of The House was pretty boss. Of course it does feel like the show coasted until seasons 6/7 when Santos and Vinnick show up. I think Season 7 could've used more Ed O'Neil James
  8. Its not that it is all crap after season 4. There are just a lot of improbable thins after that. Season 7 is a rebound season and it is mostly carried by Alan Alda being awesome! James
  9. Braiger, Trider and one other, whose name I forget, have their own subseries name but I can't remember thename of it. Like how GaoGaiGar is a Brave Robot, Raijin-Oh is Eldoran and most of Sunrise and Toei shows are Super Robots. James
  10. I miss the black skin but Home Jersey is pretty fuckin' boss James
  11. A friend gave me a thumbdrive full of old DOS games. Hello Karateka, it has been far too long! Oh high Civ I and all the Wizardry and original Ultima games! James
  12. Man I'm hoping for a 2nd/3rd string batch of Marvel heroes to team-up so we can get the Defenders. Have them fight Woodgod or something equally lame and I'll buy like 3 copies! James
  13. I was bored with Board being down and ended watching the first half of Chicago Fire's first season. Now I'm looking forward to watching the rest of it. It ain't the greatest but it is very watchable. Chistopher Eigenberg as Hermann is by far my favorite character. Its kinda like the family friendly version of Rescue Me James
  14. In this age of anime? Waaaay to much James
  15. I'd just like to say Zac-Fu is the man and I think Rippa will agree with me! James
  16. The problem is, if they had called it anything BU Gatchaman it would be ok with me but they slapped on the name of one of the greatest of all time. I mean it takes the concept of "Alien technology aiding humanity" from the original series but the designs are just so awful. If they had maybe done a direct sequel to Gatchaman Fighter, with the original team returning to Earth decades after their death, then maybe I'd be on board but Gatchaman isn't teenagers in powered armor. Taking the "science ninjas" v. Global Terrorist element away is like taking the martial arts aspect out of Hokuto No Ken and using that name to tell the story of a boy who owns a dress shop trying to save it from his brother that wants to make the store into a giant chain of dress shops. My earlier comparison of Gatchaman CROWDS is to Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman as Chouja Reideen is to Yuusha Reideen is spot on the money so far. James
  17. Tanahashi hasn't won a G-1 yet right? I mean he doesn't need it but I can see him winning it to set-up the October defense James
  18. I'm about to sit down and watch Gatchaman CROWDS actually... I'm already boiling over with rage from having seen the character designs and opening! I'm already seeing this as like Yuusha Reideen v. Chouja Reideen (right down to the armored suits) James
  19. Braiger OP BRHQjqtojwI Its one of those early Super Robot/Sc-ifi shows with a team of mercenary/super spies being given a Super Robot to bust intergalactic crime syndicates. At least that's the concept. How well its executed... well ask dogwelder. James
  20. Man, Braiger was one of those shows I've always wanted to watch based upon how often I used it in Super Robot Wars. That and Trider G7 James
  21. Bebop had a pretty strong following in Japan doing well with the Animage crowd but wasn't what what you'd call a mainstream hit. It really was the defining work for Yoko Kanno though. James
  22. I've often thought what it would be liek to be a mod but fear it would be just used for petty vengeance...IIt would take a great deal of self-control. Its like being the Battousai on the net... James
  23. I've pretty much given up except for reprints of older material like the Aparo Batman hardcovers and Showcase collections of old war comic (though that first Sgt. Rock volume is out of print and insanely expensive). DC has become Marvel in the 90s, a sick bloated beast with everything dictated by 3 key people and Bob Harras. You've just replaced Defalco, Gruenwald and Potts with Didio, Johns and Lee. I preferred the former over the latter. Can DC's own brand crippling of Marvelution be far behind? James
  24. Finally past the half way mark on Gardens of Moon. You Malazan pimpers should be very proud of yourselves. I'm utterly hooked! James
  25. Until we know for certain that the old DVDAR thread will be restored, I figured this would do just fine in the interim. So let me start with this: I've been emjoying the hell out of Yamato 2199, I mean sure I know the story backwards and forwards but its such a damn love letter to Matsumoto and Nishizaki. Hopefully it ends here because the last thing we need is a remake of Yamato 2. James
