That's got to be the most random reference in this thread in weeks. It was just something I remember from the old Robotech Art books. Macek lamented how daily syndication wouldn't broadcast a 36 episode series and was told by all syndicators that at minimum a package of 75 episodes had to be available. By adding two more shows totaling 49 episodes he not only got the magic number of 75 but padded it by 10 episodes, thus providing a full 2 1/2 months of weekday syndication viewing. Random Robotech Viewing Fact: NYC was a tough market for Robotech because it originally aired at 6:30AM on Saturday mornings on NBC before its national syndication deal kicked in and the show moved WPIX at 8AM for weekday airings. WPIX already had GI Joe and Transformers at the plum 4-5PM slot and for some reason WPIX didn't want to give-up on re-runs of Heatchliff at 3:30. So Robotech got a terrible morning slot when most kids were already in school. James

and of course for those of you that haven't head yet, the 2014 Super Sentai is... RESSHA SENTAI TOKKYUGER A lot of sentai fans are already saying the costumes are too simple and lack detail but I think making it simple will allow later Super Forms to make them look snazzier (at least I think). I personally would have loved if they had made them look more like train conductors a bit since the theme mecha are all trains. In other news... New GARO TV series in the spring (following Kouga and Karoru son) and the ZERO video series plus a new GARO movie "The One Who Shin In The Darkness" cast. Also... Kamen Rider GAIM has been ridiculously fun! Next week the Energy Riders get introduced, including the suits for Cherry, Peach and Lemon arms! I love how over the top insane Kamen Rdier BRAVO is on this show! James

After reading everything I could about Heaven's Gate and decided to try and watch it last night. Netflix has the 219 minute cut up. I'm 90 minutes in and so far the only thing that has happened is Kristofferson slapping the fuck out of Sam Waterston. Otherwise I'm bored to tears. I'll finish it up tonight and hope it picks up. I will say some of the visuals are just beautiful. James

I still say that Traitor storyline for X-Men should have had Rogue be the traitor. If you consider when she joined the team, having Rogue as Mastermind's "Ace In The Hole" made perfect sense. Hypnotize her to join the X-Men (as well as Mystique, thus explaining the weird dreams she was having during the "From The Ashes" arc). I just seemed so perfect that eventually his programming would wear off and Rogue would betray the X-Men and become one of their ultimate foes. Instead she ends up being one of the worst written characters in comics for 30 years. James

People are always going to rip on Shatner but if you watch Wrath of Kahn he just plays Kirk as a man struggling with his on mortality so well. The secene where he goes to read the book and his bifocals are shattered, the look on his face is the definition of "Pyrrhic Victory". Hell even the eulogy he gives for Spock is pretty powerful and the death scene itself is one of the few movie moments that made me cry. James
