keith_h Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Vitor likely loses to Weidman, Silva, Sonnen, Okami, and maybe Munoz at MW. Yeah he's looked good lately, but like FSW said, he can ONLY fight in Brazil right now and he's obviously juiced to the gills. You really think the UFC wants to risk a MW champ that can't fight in the USA? Especially not in Nevada where Kizer has said they would not license him... No, they don't want to risk that somehow Vitor wins and they have a champ that can only fight in his home country cause he's juiced. It would be a joke. I doubt Vitor ever gets a title shot again if he keeps up the TRT.
MarcosLoura Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Gee, I'm semi-agreeing with FSW. It feels awful.
epwar Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 LOL @ saying Vitor loses to Sonnen, Okami and Munoz. Jesus Juice Vitor smashes them all.
glfpunk Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Yeah I think he beats all of them. The only one that's a maybe to me is Sonnen and that's only because he's so aggressive with his takedowns. But still I think Vitor KO's him too.
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Vitor would get taken down and then stop trying after the first round.
Ace Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Silva's fighting Weidman in December. Vitor wouldn't get his shot until a year from now so Dana gave him someone he can beat. Plus, Vitor would have issues in the states, since at least in NV, he won't get a TRT exemption.
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Ricardo Mayorga got guillotined in under 2 minutes by former street fighter turned MMA fighter Rene Level Martinez after attempting a guillotine. Not surprisingly, it looked like Ricardo Mayorga trained at a Wingstop. He was in every shape except in shape.
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Francis Carmont continues his thrilling UFC run against Costa Philippou at UFC 165.
epwar Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Can't wait for the boos and hearing "And the winner by split decision..."
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 - Belfort turned down the Kennedy fight. Only wants to fight for the belt at 185. - The UFC working on Maia vs. Shields and Masvidal vs. Khabilov
TheVileOne Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Dana White said today they could do Vitor Belfort vs. Rashad Evans if Belfort wants to move up in weight.
TheVileOne Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Doesn't mean they would never fight each other though.
glfpunk Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I can't imagine those two are that tight. I'd love to see Rashad do the stanky leg again.
epwar Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 UFC teased Belfort vs. Sonnen at UFC 168 on UFC Tonight. No, I'm not kidding. UFC already lining up Sonnen's next headlining fight even before he loses his next one.
twiztor Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 pretty much Sonnen is their leading candidate for every fight at this point. he's more marketable than the other 95% of the roster combined.
Ace Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 It would be a way to get around the TRT issue, since neither of them would get the exemption.
epwar Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 pretty much Sonnen is their leading candidate for every fight at this point. he's more marketable than the other 95% of the roster combined. Except for the fact that he doesn't really bring the ratings like Dana and Meltzer wish he did.
keith_h Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Who else does Vitor fight though? He's stuck fighting in Brazil due to his TRT. I doubt they will give him a MW title shot since they have to hide him in Brazil (god forbid he won and they have a champ that can't fight in Vegas). At this point Vitor is probably better off for them as an "attraction" fighter like Wanderlei Silva... fighting at 205, 195, 185, whatever... in interesting fights, but fights without MW title implications.
epwar Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 For some reason the UFC is setting up Jake Shields vs. Demian Maia. I guess they don't want to believe that Maia exists at 170.
