epwar Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Hey, I resemble that remark! I'd totally be behind elsalvajeloco being the new kingpin...until he forces us all to watch The Pit.
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/7/19/4539566/dana-white-furious-confronts-si-talk-show-host-on-fixed-fight Dana destroyed this poor lady. The video is midway through Meltzer's piece. Her point is basically we had people on a roundtable not informed on MMA discussing fight fixing IN MMA.
glfpunk Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Yeah for once I felt one of his tirades was completely justified and correct
epwar Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Pat Healy returns to be a crash test dummie for Khabib Nurmagomedov:http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/07/pat-healy-vs-khabib-nurmagomedov-added-to-ufc-165-in-toronto
glfpunk Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I like that fight a lot but mainly because Khabib is in it.
epwar Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Here is a great look back at UFC 1 (celebrating its 20th anniversary this November) with comments from most of the participants. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1207974/1/index.htm
keith_h Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 We doing picks for UFC on Fox 8 this weekend? EDIT: I guess the better question is, is there someone that's going to run picks from now on?
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I have to found out if rimz saved the standings because I sure as hell didn't.
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 At work and/or tweeting about kawaii pets. Other than that, I have no clue. Anyway, he doesn't have the scores so we will be starting from scratch. This is what Google Drive and Dropbox is for, folks.

epwar Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 So is sprewell not coming back? I used to tally them sometimes, so I wouldn't mind running it.
glfpunk Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 He hasn't joined at this point so I'd get your calculator ready

glfpunk Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I was hoping the results would be lost forever so I could get back in the race. I just have a hard time keeping up because of work sometimes and if I miss one event it's not too bad but more than that I quit posting picks because it's too much ground to make up. Oh well.
epwar Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Picks thread is up! UFC 166 adds KJ Noons vs. George Sotiropoulos and Shawn Jordan vs. Gabriel Gonzaga.
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I'm not sure if I should start a new thread, but they are boxers and MMA fighters that have been listed as Biogenesis clients. The only person from either sport whose name actually got out when the story first broke earlier this year was Yuriorkis Gamboa. Everyone seems to be expecting some Earth shattering names, but it could be some guys from MMA past with a history of PEDs like Ken Shamrock who are on the list. So far, a lot of people are going with a bunch of people from the Blackzilians.
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Please be Weidman Dude, did you see Weidman's house before (and subsequently after) Hurricane Sandy? I doubt he could afford it. Keep in mind, Gamboa makes like five or six times a fight than what Weidman makes.
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Please be Weidman Dude, did you see Weidman's house before (and subsequently after) Hurricane Sandy? I doubt he could afford it. Keep in mind, Gamboa makes like five or six times a fight than what Weidman makes. Weidman used it, Dana bought it for him, and Rousey was the mule. Perfect
epwar Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Meltzer reports that UFC 161: Evans vs. Henderson did 150,000 buys, setting the all-time low for PPVs since 2005. Also, he pulled one of his classic Meltzer moves by readjusting UFC 162 from 800,000 buys to 550,000 buys. Eh, what's 250,000 here or there?

Also, he pulled one of his classic Meltzer moves by readjusting UFC 162 from 800,000 buys to 550,000 buys. Eh, what's 250,000 here or there? That low buy rate for Evans vs. Hendo is a good thing, and hopefully a wake up call for the UFC. That card would have been crap for a FOX show, let alone PPV. Maybe a few more buy rates in the 100k range and they'll start stacking their PPVs a bit more. Also that seems low for Silva vs. Weidman, but they really didn't do a good job explaining to causal fans who Weidman is and why they should watch. I think most people thought it would just be Silva vs. The bum of the month part 8,201. I know I had to convince my brother (who's an average casual fan) it would be worth watching.
