I thought the same thing. The censor had their finger ready to mute all night. I couldn't tell if the commentators were trying to downplay him cursing or if the censor just got overzealous and muted "thank you".

Well, the unnecessary censorship only makes it funnier. Here is Nigel, having a cathartic moment thanking his fiercest rival before deciding to submit. And some asshole makes it seem like he is giving his opponent one final FU before tapping out. Those are two totally different stories. Both awesome, but if he was going for exactly the opposite of what it was made to look like, it's a problem. A really funny problem, but a problem nonetheless.

I know I've been bringing Alvarez up a lot recently but I've got to mention this:

He says not only was Ian not there live (and pointed out how they covered it up during the Suzuki/Perry match) but that Schiavone and Daddy Magic recorded their commentary live....leaving gaps for Ian.....and Ian filled the gaps in post!

At first I thought:  bullshit.  Full stop.  Then I thought about it more, and I recalled how Ian did sound a bit different from the other two on the show and I think he's actually right

That's insane to me.  I don't think I've ever heard of post-production done that way, as a mix of live and tape.  I'd be really interested to hear the technical details, if Ian watched the show first with just their commentary a couple times to get the beats down or what.  That's such a weird way to do it IMO and now I think I need to go back and listen closer

I know why Tony doesn't though.  He cares about perception, has the "if you build it they will come" mentality.....and like, you dress for the job and the girl you want, right?  If he starts booking smaller venues he probably views it as a self defeating propecy that will be an admission that AEW is the "B" company.

I think this is a part of it, as well as trying to prevent WWE from locking out dates for the big arenas.

But I think the overriding reason is wanting to have a "major league" production setup.  I think if TK had the choice between selling out a 8K seat arena with scaled down production, or could full production in a 4K seat arena that he would pick the venue that fit the production needs.  Except for PPV.

When I first saw ECW, the hot crowds in smaller buildings made it seem so crazy. To me, smaller buildings with hotter crowds would fit the "For the Sickos" tag. I'm all honesty, Vince took the Fed to high school gyms in the 90s and then a short few years later things had heated up so there's no shame in AEW doing the same.

It's especially true of this company's forthcoming riches. I'm not of the opinion that AEW needs to do such an extreme shift in venue size to gain hotter crowds. Here in Toronto they ran the larger Scotiabank arena for a Collision (half full) and (near full) PPV. Before and after AEW booked the smaller Coca Cola Coliseum. Watch back any of those shows and you'll see a super hot crowd. The same can be said of a number of cities. Maybe it's not feasible, but it feels like they should be running in said hotter places more often. I'm pretty certain they could run two TVs a year in Toronto, and sell out Coca Cola. Feels like the same may also be true of some of there other hot spots.

Recent legal matters involving TKO suggests that kind of Monopoly play is far less likely going forth.

The best part was they showed the announce table when Suzuki and Perry went to the floor and obviously Riccaboni wasn’t there, so Schiavone covered by saying he was under the table hiding from Murder Grandpa.  🤣
