  1. I played Paradise Killer a few weeks back and it is very good.
  2. To steal a point from the guy who does the Observer ROH tv write-ups, having a TV show that doesn't effectively build to your PPV is one thing... but to have that be the case for a show behind a paywall is especially nuts. If it is gonna feel like the show itself is thrown together at the last minute the argument as to why to pay and watch the tv outside the few weeks beforehand isn't very compelling.
  3. This is very generous of you, there's a bunch of interesting stuff listed here but I've personally had Opus Magnum, MO:Astray and Katana ZERO on my steam wish list for a good bit now so I would be glad to grab any of those off you.
  4. Balor was off enough last night that I was curious if he got his bell rung, so I'd be looking in his general direction.
  5. Worked out well for Eric Watts...
  6. I also watched the NewLegacyInc boys play some of the game last night and... online looks to be in very rough shape. It may just be that the game ain't built for multiman matches (they were running a bunch of tag ones) but I swear there were more matches where something inexplicable happened than there were ones that went well, and given the average match seems to last three or so minutes that's kinda worrisome. I saw a match continue after a 3 count and several reversals dropped (i.e. you got the visual flash of it being successful yet the move still hit), lag seems to just cause havoc with it. Between that and the poor state of the CAWs (again, the sequel needs a way to share them assuming they get a halfway decent set-up when they have more time to dedicate to it) I'm gonna pass on it for now, at $60 it's way too much for a game that I'll probably play for a week looking at all the new stuff before getting bored of it. Those things are what could extend my interest beyond the fairly short career mode, if I was still in college like I was in the AKI days where we could crowd around a tv with four controllers it'd be a different story but I ain't so... hopefully next time.
  7. I just have to say... this blind draw tag tourney so far is the least convincing example of a random draw I think I have ever seen in wrestling, I don't even think that one Battlebowl was as obviously not random as this has been so far. Three teams, two of them made up of people actively feuding (or at least theoretically so when it comes to whatever the hell is going on with Keith Lee and Swerve) and the third is the company's big go-to house show tag team that has gotten more regular work together the past couple months on TV. I'm not gonna sit here and say that the matches are gonna suck or what have you (although I wonder how much "can they possibly co-exist?" I can handle) but jesus, neither WWE or WCW at their worst were ever this transparently poor at this. ...Yes i know it isn't a big deal, I just had to get it off of my chest.
  8. So now that Fuego's run is over... that big contract signing deal sure went nowhere didn't it? Doing a quick count he made TV 7 or 8 times since (all losses), the only match that was in anyway meaningful was about a month after and his last two TV matches went 23 seconds and 1:56. I believe some said this at a time but that sure seemed like an odd angle to do with someone they literally had no plans for.
  9. So I would legit be fascinated to see any kind of internal AEW memo or whatnot that gave an indication what their vision for Wardlow or the TNT actually is as... I can't even picture what it could be that would match up with what they've done with them for the past year or so. I was so sad when I saw that Hobbs still had QT with him, I was hopeful the new show would offer him a fresh start from what has clearly not been working in the least.
  10. I mean, about the part he wants to move on from. He still seems to be angling for Hangman to be disciplined or something re: what happened over a year ago now, I can't see any other way to read the whole "and here we are over a year later and ain't s--- been done about it." bit. It's nothing new but it reads very "what I am angry about is serious and is still worth being angry about, the stuff people are angry at me for is minor and we should all move on" which... does 100% sound like him.
  11. Yeah I'm on the seemingly not broken Strong Climb skin and these are all kinda borked on here as well.
  12. I think this is an unpopular take on DVDVR but while I think the Hart Foundation returning helped a lot as it allowed Stone Cold to turn face and raise hell... they don't catch fire if Bret stays. The US/Canada angle had some hot Canadian crowds but I don't recall anyone I talked to at the time really thinking it was good (Canada really isn't our hated rival?), like if the options are watching the NWO angle or the US/Canada stuff WCW was gonna stay on top. The Hart Foundation sticking around just long enough to help heat up Austin (and sadly long enough to break his neck >_>) and then basically getting removed from the playing field for the much more universally appealing "man of the people wants to beat up his asshole boss" angle is probably the 1-2 punch that did it.
  13. I mainly was interested in this G1 to see Kingston and Kaito and they pretty much got the least interesting blocks, so that's a shame.
  14. I mean the last DVDVR guy who got the chance to book a national promotion did pretty okay, so...
  15. Yeah this was supposed to be my walk/jogging day and I had multiple things popping up to tell me that this was a bad idea here in NJ.
  16. Saw the ratings the Roman Reigns 1000 Days celebration drew (the final quarter had 2.9 million viewers!) and like... do we sorta have to admit that WWE was right and we were mostly wrong regarding Cody losing at Mania?
  17. For the sake of accuracy I will note that the MLW Fusion match was actually Juicy Finau vs. Damian 666 vs Crazy Frank; it was not the best match of the week.
  18. I will go the other way and say that you basically waste a multi-year win streak not by having them lose to a surprise, but have it happen after they already wrestled a match. Can you imagine if Joe's win streak, or Goldberg's, or whoever's ended after they already wrestled a match and had to unexpectedly wrestle another with no preparation? Can you imagine if that was how Roman's reign were to end? I'll also note there's a reason most of the MITB winners got a pop when they won but weren't particularly successful as champs afterwards. That said Jade's streak had gotten to the rare point that it was actively hurting her in the eyes of people, and it is now seemingly clear that it got extended a year simply because it was written in Tony's notebook that Stat was the next champ and he would not deviate from that at all, so I am fine with a poor idea that just rips that band-aid off than a good one that would have taken another few months. I also don't think it is the level of good/bad idea that'll likely dramatically alter where either of them will be say two years from now.
  19. While the specifics were covered, I believe the general gist is that Hickman's read on Reed Richards is that he needs the rest of the Fantastic Four around to keep him grounded and keep hold of his humanity. In the Ultimates universe they are mostly gone or less morally good, so Reed's pure intellect minus that tie to humanity leads him to some dark places.
  20. Fun fact: I have to do some leg exercises a few days a week to keep my achilles from turning on me, so I generally put on a 15 or 30 minute show to watch while I do so. My current one is likely up in a few weeks and there was a pretty good chance Metalocalypse was the next show up. Oops.
  21. So I haven't seen or at least paid attention to the Viking Warriors for a good bit, did Erik just recently stop working out or has he been like this for a bit now? >_>
  22. Ray Stevenson as Titus Pullo in Rome is legit one of my favorite characters in a show of all time.
  23. To step in on the "why aren't people drawing" point, I've had a gut feeling about this that may not be correct but I'll at least throw out there. There are people in AEW who moved numbers, and Tony leans on them too much when this happens. Mox drew great so he had matches every week or so even when he was champ, now he doesn't draw as much. OC did great opening Dynamite so he now basically opens every Dynamite to declining results (in terms of numbers, not match quality). People always point out the people who can't get any consistent opportunities in AEW but I think they miss the flip side: the golden gooses aren't being killed but end up much less golden due to overuse and overexposure. The individual shows have been good but I think the balance on them hasn't been for a long time, and while it'd be a lie to say AEW has been doing poorly I think they've left money on the table and squandered some of the draws they did have. This is legit why MJF has a better mind for the business than I think people give him credit for.
  24. So forgive me I feel like I've been a bit slow on the uptake the past couple days but based on the current reporting on this whole Punk/Steel deal something just struck me during the day, sorry if it has been mentioned/talked to death already. The current reporting/belief is that Ace Steel was hired back several months ago (basically a couple months after he was fired) in an at the time stay-home role that maybe was intended to become a back on the road one (at least until I assume legal got looped in). Apparently very few people were aware of this fact until this past week or so. Tony Khan has been reported to have been having extension talks with Kenny Omega and The Bucks for the past however many months (believe since near the start of the year). ...If those are all true then that makes it seem like there is a pretty good likelihood that Tony Khan was trying to get The Elite signed to new contracts before they found out Ace Steel was back. If that actually is what happened... that would be such a severe breach of trust that I don't know that a relationship could be salvage? I always assumed it was more likely than not they were staying in AEW and while probably bothered they were mainly playing for money/whatever perks they wanted, I don't know if I believe that anymore.
