  1. good news: had beautiful weather for a canoe trip today. bad news: found out too late that the sunscreen we had was nearly empty. my neck/shoulders and legs are burnt to a crisp.
  2. this was my line of reasoning also. i'd be interested in Dillashaw/DJ way before DJ/anybody else that's been mentioned so far. For the record, i still have DJ one behind Silva in defenses. I count Silva's win over Lutter, even if the official records do not. The way i see it, Silva did everything he needed to do, as he made weight and won the fight. the fact that Lutter missed his opportunity shouldn't count against Silva.
  3. glad you said this. i tend to forget about sunday/afternoon cards. and i'm sure the show will be a fun watch, just commenting on the lack of starpower.
  4. apropos of nothing, i was always hoping we got a Rousey vs Marloes Coenen match. GdR vs Cyborg is really the only w145 match to make. everything else is just holding out
  5. this was a fantastic event. avoided spoilers until Sunday night and i regret not being able to watch it live. joanna showing why shes champion and stipe avenging a prior loss without question. and those prelims. hot damn!
  6. and thus ends my streak of buying WrestleMania on home video every year. the Andre is one of my favorite moments each year.
  7. sitting in a bar/venue waiting for the bands to start. the headliner? Fozzy. not expecting anything amazing, but should be a good time.
  8. if this somehow leads to the 2008 NWA Showcase tv shows being viewable, i am on board.
  9. the Morrison run is my favorite Bat-run ever also. i've read everything, and that had the most resonance. Even ignoring Dick Grayson as Batman (which was utterly awesome, especially with Damian Robin!), he was just so out there while still keeping stuff grounded. just amazing. the ideas he put forth and the stuff he created, not to mention the stuff he brought back, really brought home everything. Snyder is good. i like a lot of his ideas. i was iffy on the idea of Gordon in a mech Bat suit, but he made it work. Non-Batman Bruce Wayne was fantastic in that story. and the Black Mirror is phenomenal. Court of Owls was solid, Lincoln March was good. Death of the Family didn't do much for me tho.
  10. maybe it's finally time for Anderson Silva vs GSP. winner gets an "eventual" title shot.
  11. did they also lose an IQ test to Nikki Bella? i think the answer is yes.
  12. hit the 50 shrine mark yesterday after not playing for over a month. Also knocked off the Rito divine beast, my first. Now to double back and finish up the other two i started but never completed.
  13. i am LOLing at the idea of Miz winning a belt in a Fatal 4 Way match, leading to a singles match at an event named Fatal 4 Way. also, i would tune in to a WWE "Pole Match" event. entirely for the laughs. also, i would hope they'd find unique variations of said match, although that is asking quite a bit
  14. my freebies: Legend of Zelda, the Tick, Street Fighter wrestling special. didn't buy anything as i already grabbed my books this week, but i do need to snag another longbox. plus i spread the word to a bunch of friends with kids, so maybe that'll pay off
  15. so, i know this is probably frowned upon, but i'm looking for a couple videos. If anybody could point me on where to find them, it would be awesome. PMs so as to not clutter the thread would be best. I'm looking for: NWA World Title tournament, 11/19/94 @ Cherry Hill, NJ. this is the tourney, hosted by SMW, that Chris Candido won after the Shane Douglas/NWA Title fiasco. Apparently a fan cam of this show exists and i'd love to see it. WWN: World Wrestling Network, the Paul Heyman/Jim Crockett show held at the Manhattan Center on 2/28/94. features mostly ECW talent. again, video of the show exists but i've never seen it anywhere. thanks in advance.
  16. i thought they couldn't use all the matches and just released a documentary on the series. maybe i'm wrong, i lost interest when the whole controversy happened.
  17. as someone who largely doesn't follow/watch indy wrestling, i was looking forward to purchasing the promised DVD of the tournament. Obviously that never happened. a couple years later, i was ready to support the NWA Title series "7 Levels of Hate" between Adam Pearce and Colt Cabana. obviously that never happened. i think the "new" NWA needs to do something similar. A highly publicized tournament, available on DVD, iPPV, featured through existing promotions. having a match on ROH, Evolve, Chikara, a few NWA feds with TV, that sort of thing. Then follow the champ as he tours all over the world, defending the belt against a multitude of guys, while cultivating a strong feud along the way. Basically the exact thing they did with Adam Pearce, before they jacked it all up.
  18. where are you getting this idea from? i don't see a mention of anything even close to this in the article, and i sure didn't see anybody suggest it here.
  19. re: wsof so it sounds like they're still going to be holding 4 more wsof events this year to fulfill network obligations? should be interesting to see how that goes (i.e. how many get cancelled) gotta be honest, i don't see the PFL doing great business. getting fighters to fight three times in a ten month period, plus tournament fights, seems like trouble. and good luck staving off injuries.
  20. losing by count out =/= putting someone over strong
  21. about damn time. Assuncao is a good tough matchup to see how his skills line up in the big leagues. Very much looking forward to him making some waves.
  22. weird coincidence timing here. Over at ComicBookResources, they do a weekly feature about "Comic Book Legends" and myths. one this week featured Lois Lane, Girl Reporter, the aforementioned newspaper strips from the 40s. at the bottom, however, he mentions in passing a book called "Lois Lane, Reporter", by Kate Beaton, and gives this example: i don't know if this is what you were after (seems a bit newer), but at least it's something.
  23. edit: double post. that being said, i would've been 100% ok with Federline beating Cena for the title. in fact, i can't think of anybody i WOULDN'T have been OK with beating Cena for the title at that point.
  24. i've always believed it was twofold: first, Piper absolutely refused to lay down for Hogan. second, Hogan agreed because 1: he got to keep the title, and 2: he could point to this series that he was willing to lose (i.e. "i just lost to Piper, i can't lose twice in a row" or "i have no problem losing, i just put over Roddy Piper")
