  1. NOMINATION - Kana vs. Hanako Nakamori (JWP 10/14) Not perfect, but man did these ladies kick the shit out of each other. I watched this mainly because I saw it was a Kana title match that went over ten minutes, and I wasn't disappointed. She has to hold Hanako's hand through this a bit, but it works. Kana is such a fucking asshole here, stomps- kicks- elbows- slaps- backfists- you name it, and she knocks the piss out of Nakamori with 85% of them. They do some crowd brawling in the first half and a good bit of submission struggling in the second, and in a year with so little shoot style showing up online, this is a bright spot. It's not perfect, as mentioned, as some of the strikes don't connect quite like you'd hope, but for the most part this is some dirty ass mean ass joshi pro wres and the finishing run is white hot. Kana~
  2. What on Earth... did you SEE his fucking dive?? He went into the third row and nearly killed some tiny lady. In his mind, he's still in Mexico. He's awesome in that match. His superkick was fine. You have bad opinions. Etc. Yeah, because being able to do a cute tope con giro makes you awesome and stuff. Tell that to several hundred US indy and Dragon Gate guys who/have pull off that exact same spot etc. What exactly is it that you're expecting to see in a midcard juniors tag? He hit a gigantic highspot with perfect timing to pop the crowd. He stooged around and played his role, something a lot of people in New Japan have a lot of trouble with. That split spot was great, all his bumping was quick and intense, and it built to the title match fairly well. And his superkick was fine. And don't say it's "cute". And so on.

  4. Thanks for this, I wanted to see Mikami's re-debut under the mask. The man was a beast in CMLL as Namajague last year. I don't know if he just fit in the style really well or what, but I'm hoping that fire will translate to the NJ junior style as well. The junior division in New Japan is so fucking boring at this point, we've seen Ibushi feuding with Devitt for what, three years now? What happened to Taguchi? Also, Kevin, I don't want to be a dick, but are you gonna update those 2013 nomination posts any time soon?
  5. Pretty sure cubsfan re-uploaded all of those Monterrey matches a few days ago. 7/28 8/04 Both are great for different reasons. The title match features one of the all-time craziest bumps I've ever seen. These guys rule. Hechicero is supposed to be working some CMLL shows this year, I'm hoping he gets some time in there with other maestros and bad asses.
  6. Here we go... NOMINATION - Bisen TAGAI & Tiger Shark vs. Kenji Takeshima & Katsumi Usuda (1/13) - Big surprise: Usuda is still a bad motherfucker. Watching him on defense is a joy, I could watch him counter jabronies all day. - Tagai and Takeshima are dudes I remember seeing in the opening matches on Battlarts cards towards the end and I never saw much in either, but Takeshima looks really solid here with hard elbows and nice takedowns. Also he provides the first sick ass shoot headbutts of the night. - Tiger Shark... I don't know dude, he does a standing moonsault that misses Usuda by a mile and then grabs an armbar like it was an elaborate set-up. Hmm... You still stink like balls, Tiger Shark - The match is at its best when they're just beating the piss out of TAGAI. Takeshima throws more ridiculous elbows and Usuda punts him in the face for an 8 count. He looks good on the comeback too, with a flurry of palms and great butterfly suplex. - Tiger Shark is a huge idiot. He does a tombstone piledriver and follows it with an old school boots scrape and a flying headbutt. What a retard. He *almost* redeems himself with a reckless spinning heel that nearly kills Takeshima for the KO. Almost. Good stuff, even if Tiger Shark did his damnedest to drag it down. YES - Manabu Suruga vs. Shintaro Takeda (1/13) - I'm the world's biggest Suruga/Hara fan so I was gonna love this no matter what, but... - GOD DAMN. It seems like a fair exhibition as they trade holds for the first couple minutes on the mat but as soon as they stand it up and start trading elbows, it gets nasty in a hurry. - Suruga isn't holding anything back and I don't know if Takeda just didn't have anything more in him or what, but those weak little elbows just served to piss Suruga off further. Suruga even sells for the poor bastard, which is the only thing keeping me from believing this wasn't some massive joke on Takeda. - This turns pretty quickly into a desperate struggle for survival for young Takeda, as he absorbs knees to the face in an attempt to get Suruga back on the mat. And it actually works! Except, oh, now Suruga is really getting tired of this. - Suruga is a massive dick in this, talking a lot of shit and standing on Takeda's face, which makes it rather satisfying when Takeda finally grabs a successful takedown to delay the onslaught. He's not bad on the mat but is severely outclassed everywhere else. And oh yeah, Suruga's no slouch on the ground either. Next thing you know he has the child in a half crab struggling desperately for the ropes. A quick German suplex and a roundhouse kick to the ear later and he's choking the boy out. If you're into Suruga and/or shoot style ass beatings, give this a shot. YES - Yuki Ishikawa & Super Tiger 2 vs. Hideki Suzuki & Kazunari Murakami (1/13) - The Ishikawa vs. Murakami feud is one of the reasons I first got into this style. Their match from November 2000 might still be my all-time favorite Battlarts singles match. - This one begins beautifully with ST2 going off on Kazu, murdering him with stomps and kicks and palm thrusts. "Remember me mother fucker. Super Tiger Numero Dos, remember me from 2007. You bitch." Big Man comes back with a similar flurry and we're off to a hell of a start. - Competitive Suzuki/Ishikawa mat section gives way to our first taste of Murakami/Ishikawa and fuck me it's intense. Old Man Ishikawa is one of the best sellers in all of wrestling. It's like the more hair he loses, the more sympathetic he becomes. That said, boy can he still kick some fucking ass. - Suzuki & Murakami really heel it up here, putting a lot of heat on Ishikawa and fighting dirty to maintain the advantage. All four match-ups here are immensely satisfying, with ST2 and Suzuki never feeling like afterthoughts, but Ishikawa/Murakami is obviously the centerpiece here and they have plenty of horrifying exchanges together. - The finishing run does a great job of feeling sudden and believable, and features two of the sickest suplex bumps I've seen all year. Excellent and brutal MOTYC. It might not seem all that special to some, but in a year that saw so little shoot style make tape, this is a breath of fresh (nostalgic?) air. Ishikawa is still one of the best in the world at selling a beating, and one of the best at giving one too. NOW WHERE'S MY FU TEN
  7. It's that time of the year again. That time of the year when I realize I'm gonna need to put a ballot together by April and my MOTYC list is like five matches long. Yep, it's modern puro alright. Go Shiozaki vs. KAI (4/29) - NO, but borderline. I'm not really a fan of either guy, but I fucking hate KAI with a passion so that obviously doesn't help things. He is mostly a punching bag in this one, which is the main reason why it almost works, since god knows his fucking comebacks aren't worth a shit. Shiozaki has control for the most part and looks pretty good here. His offense is built around his chops as usual, which is good because that's about all he's got. Didn't like the finish mainly because I don't buy KAI as any sort of technician. Anyways, I watched this mostly for completist purposes so I could get to this: Jun Akiyama vs. KAI (4/29) - YES. KAI's chest looks like hell from the Go match. This starts good with Akiyama schooling him on the mat in the opening portion and giving him almost nothing until KAI uses his speed advantage to take over and hits a fucking insane tope and makes me smile for the first time in years. Akiyama hits this tricked out Orton-style hanging pedigree thing and nearly kills the child, and then uses knees to the back of the head and stomps and the rudest cutoffs every time KAI tries to go on offense and I start to love this match. KAI is just dead at this point really. He tries to make a comeback with cute little modern puro elbow smashes and Akiyama just headbutts him down to his fucking knees. I really have trouble taking it seriously when Akiyama actually sells for him. But then Akiyama will like, knee him in the mouth and drop him with a fucking piledriver or something, and I'll be right back in it. Funny how these things work. It goes on like this for awhile- KAI with his crap offense and I get bored, then Akiyama cuts him off and it's awesome. There's a nearfall submission and another nearfall off a powerbomb that had me screaming for him to kick out. The finishing run has too many nearfalls, with KAI kicking out of a ridiculous amount of knees to the face and pissing me off. Then Akiyama kills him a bit more and finishes with the wrist clutch exploder. Good enough.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B7DLTWy3SU I don't know the date on this but I'm pretty sure I first read about it around issue #125 or so of the DVDVR. It's more of a classic LCO brawl than a KAORU showcase but it's the first thing that came to mind.
  9. Mikami was a little badass house of fire all last year in CMLL as Namajague, I'm looking forward to him getting a decent push as El Desperado. The title match against Ibushi could be one of the better NJ junior matches in years. Ishii might be able to get something good out of Naito unless they try for some kind of shitty epic. New Japan is boring as hell these days but Ishii still rocks and I'd like to see Shibata squash Yoshihashi and give him next to nothing. There's potential for fun stuff here. The main event scene outside of Nakamura is a wasteland though.
  10. I can't get over how good that Youtube channel with all the Portland stuff is. I just found it like a week ago. I'm still in '79 at this point and I was looking to read some about the territory but I can't find hardly anything. I can't find reviews, message board threads- I can't find hardly anything on this stuff. But it's all right there on Youtube, posted in the last what, 6 months? The internet is some shit.
  11. I think if we could just post that pic in every thread, that that would be good. I think that that would be a good thing to do.
  12. I heard your audio popping in here and there. I think it was you at least. I'm pretty sure I have the chatter set to Crew & Friends Only or whatever. I would've done that Commute race with you 25 more times if I didn't need the sleep. That one that I won by like .03 seconds over that griefer ass made me like $10k. I'm better at slipstreaming these modded fuckers than they realize I think. Thanks for being patient with me and for letting me win that last one. I'm saving for an apartment but I'm not sure what I really want. I know one of you guys had a place in Sandy Shores. I was thinking Paleto might be a nice place for an early safehouse. I have $79k in the bank so I'm about a one session away from affording one in that range. Or should I wait and buy a nice 6-car in the city around the $200k-$250k range? Maybe soon I can get into some violent activities that pay high. If any of you need a driver or someone to fly a helicopter, I'm pretty good at those things. I'm a good shot too but it's gonna be a little while before I can unlock rifles and do any real damage from range.
  13. Is there a version of the *Make Billions On GTA V In One Hour* video that doesn't spoil the ending? I'm up to the part where Trevor and Mike are out in the desert together. I don't want anymore spoilers than the ones I've read. Even those I read too late, I'd been doing Lester's assassinations but I quit as soon as I understood the whole point was to sink a ton of money into those missions. I've done three of them I think. A nice guy on Twitter gave me a code for a 7 day trial of Gold last night so I signed on today and did the first few missions. I got my girl (named Ashanti) looking pretty hot+sexual with pigtails and stumbled into a Vapid Dominator that I chose as my Personal Vehicle. I robbed a couple stores and did the intro Lamar missions. I like how everyone is a sleazy fucker if your toon is a lady. Lamar picked me up at the airport with some damn roses. LMAO I got my free shotgun and was going to do the Cypress Flats thing but decided to stop off and rob a store with my new piece. Only thing is, after I turned and ran with the money, the fucking clerk starts pumping my back full of bullets and nearly kills me. I barely made it out and by the time I got to Cypress Flats and saw it was a Last Team Standing (whatever that is) I decided my low health would probably get me killed pretty quick. I searched around for a health pickup, a vending machine, something, but after like five minutes of that and listening to a child who couldn't have been older than ten yelling on his headset, I decided to call it a day. I think I'm level three. I don't know how to start a crew session. I don't know shit. I'm gonna add as many of you as I can off the Social Club list and see if I can't jump into someone's game. Tomorrow is my day off so I could be on all day if I start getting into it. My XBL username is AlyssIs10ftTall. I know I'm friends with J.T. already, and BigFresh too if I'm not mistaken.
  14. It's not too late to get into this right? I'm right around the Paleto Bay Score in the story mode and I'm wanting to go online. I know everyone has a big headstart with leveling and the stimulus package and everything. Will it be difficult for me to jump in now? I joined the Social Club crew a few days ago. My XBox name is AlyssIs10ftTall, some of you may have played a game with me on ME3. I still don't have a headset but I'll be looking into getting one if I enjoy it. Would you guys help me level up my guy is what I'm asking, basically. I might need some assistance.
  15. Sounds like one of those things where Vince had this Great Idea on Tuesday, but then Friday came around and he previewed the show and asked who the fuck is responsible for this nonsense.
  16. http://youtu.be/7dpqK5unaJA From the Buck vs. Dustin series. I'm thinking this one is from Main Event some time in July 94, since the German TV broadcast it's ripped from has World Cup 94 scores scrolling at the bottom. Anyways, this isn't a classic but I'd never seen it before and it was just uploaded like 5 days ago. Good punches. How about those punches. Hmm.
  17. How is it a shitty finish? It's one of the most logical finishes I've ever seen. Meng goes for the death grip, Show goes for the chokeslam, and Show wins because of the reach advantage. It makes perfect sense to me.
  18. Didn't Takayama have a fucking stroke after that match? Yeah I'd put that in my top 25 probably.
  19. Sami Zayn should be the one who stands up to the mean bully.
  20. Haha, literally the only NOAH I've seen this year was when I checked out Yoshihito and Ishikawa's matches in the tag league. They weren't great but yeah, Yoshihito Sasaki could take any midcard and make it beautiful.
  21. I'm halfway through it now and I haven't read the thread so I don't know if someone already suggested this but... Big E vs. Ziggler at Summerslam with AJ locked in a cage above the ring. Book it, Brad
  22. I'm laughing about the idea of All Japan running a 2/3 falls Suwama/Go match because they just have no other way to fill the card. Look at this fucking card. (1) Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. SUSHI (2) Kotaro Suzuki & Atsushi Aoki vs. Hikaru Sato [Pancrase MISSION] & MAZADA [Tokyo Gurentai] (3) Jun Akiyama vs. KENSO (4) Taiyo Kea & Joe Doering vs. Takao Omori & Masao Inoue [Free] (5) 60 min. 3 Fall Match: Suwama vs. Go Shiozaki Inoue is in as a freelancer which makes me giggle. Too bad Saito is tied up in NOAH and didn't make the jump, eh? I'd watch a Dark Agents tag title run in 2013, especially if there's literally no one for them to defend against. Seriously though, can this get any worse? Things looked so good there at the first of the year. What happened to the Big Japan connection, why aren't they bringing Okabayashi and Sekimoto in anymore?
