  1. This should probably go to some WWE threads, but the individual show threads of last week are closed already. Anyway, Finnish television is apparently giving wrestling a shot, once again. RAW and SD (seemingly these are week old episodes, so much better than the 4 week delay on the Network) are airing 11PM on Friday and Saturday, respectively. One way or another there has been a way to see wrestling on television (cable or satellite dish homes, anyway) in Finland since '87. There's always a few years when it's not on, but it creeps back in, despite the general populations' deep indifference or disdain for it. The same channel that gave it a chance in 2001 is now giving it a shot in 2021. I would think the fan base has shrunk to much less than what it was when they last decided that it was no longer worth the channels' time. Well, I'll be intrigued to see how long it lasts this time around. I did inform a couple of lapsed fans about it.
  2. They way that GIF ends, it would seem like a good and surprising way to end a match. Obviously leading to a no-count outs rematch, later.
  3. Just started Night two, and Vince wins after all, with Triple H giving us Poppy performing Stand and Deliver! As far as night 1 went, Gonzalez did it and covincingly at that. Her rise to the top has been one of the most unexpected, welcome surprises in past couple of years. I'll comment on other matches later, if something important comes up. Will refrain from reading this thread until then. Yeah, both nights had their moments. I wonder who will step up to challenge Kross? O'Reilly? I see Kai slowly turning on Raquel, but it's doubtful that she'll be the first challenger. She might be the first serious challenger, though. I really thought Jordan Devlin was going to get the cruiser titles, so Escobar could move on without being pinned. I wonder if GYV will get the tag titles at some point, but another big win for MSK. They have really been pushed right out of the gate.
  4. Wow, that IS pretty shameless! I've never heard this one before! Ay-o, DMX!
  5. If the said match would have ended in a double count out after that spot (with both guys knocked out on the floor), would it have been remembered as a cool finish instead?
  6. Well, according to the general thread, they will most likely throw bags of urine at you!
  7. Lex beating Flair at WM IX when he missed out on doing so at GAB'91, would probably have been cathartic, actually!
  8. Ok, time for an update. I think I just about reached 200 lbs before going back to work, but I slipped back down to 198 in couple of days. Went for a little jog/brisk walk on Tuesday and decided to try to climb a flight of stairs the town has built on a side of small hill, for public exercise purposes. I jogged them up and walked them down as fast as I dared, twice. Then jogged and walked back home. No more than 3 miles overall, and my thighs were stiff af for three days! I'll definitely start going there regularly, once the diet begins. I returned to work on Thursday and was supposed to start with trapbar, but my legs said no. So I did upper body instead. Usual stuff with bench included. Did 6 x 3 x 264, 12 and 8 x 220 and 22 x132. I'd rather want to do 3x6x264, but that wasn't going to happen, so I take what I can get. Today, it was Trapbar and shrug day, as my legs were finally feeling better. Did 10 x 230, 6x 352 and 5, 5, 6 and 5 x 430 and a bunch of shrugs. Ab stuff at the end on both days. Only two days of work, so only two work outs, but that's fine by me. Let's see, if next week I'll be back in the groove?
  9. There are so many worse things than having Land of Confusion stuck in your head that I don't even know where to start. Ok, I'll start with a fork stuck in your head, for instance, but I'll stop there. ...I love that song, btw...
  10. Ok, how many seconds after pic was taken, does Bivens do his best "Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop"-impression and fly back first through the glass on the door, when WALTER chops him out of his shoes?
  11. Conscious AND Fashion-conscious, that is super!
  12. That is terrible. So sorry to hear that! My aunt actually also passed away little more than a month ago, but that had nothing to do with covid.
  13. I don't remember, but that sounds like it should have happened. I mean I can see how at least Douglas would have been pissed off about it. I mean even moreso than every other second of his career.
  14. The new IWGP heavyweight title looks like "Decepticon World Championship". Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing. The letters pop out quite nicely in the logo.
  15. Would they be likely to check up on such statement? Or is just easier to move on to the next person in line? People doing the selection must be going "Goddammit, this country is absolutely littered with lawyers and would be-lawyers!"
  16. I like the short chains connecting the plates, always have. Wouldn't mind if somebody decided to use that little detail in some of the current titles as well. ...and judging by the Mutoh "I have all the belts in the universe" -photo earlier in the page, those can apparently still be found on some newer titles, which makes me happy!
  17. I wonder if Stark vs Storm will serve as "John Cena vs Jericho on PPV in 2002", as in Stark's first major victory after a bunch of tough losses to top people. I'm not sure she's quite ready to beat Storm yet, but she needs to start getting some wins as well, right about now! ...yup, called it! A big win for Zoey!
  18. Unfortunately, I think this just referred to a squash by either of those teams, not a squash between the two teams. Correct me, if I'm wrong. Someday, it will though!
  19. Interestingly enough, Sting was calling himself that years later, even at the time when Douglas was with the company. And he went on to face Sid for the third time at a Halloween Havoc and that time, he lost.
  20. Yeah, both segments of the audience were indeed well representent on these episodes. Here's something kinda funny: There's another Sting vs Sid Vicious match at Halloween Havoc '93. Sid calls it The Franchise match. Sting, being the babyface says he doesn't consider himself The Franchise, he considers himself the Stinger. So does this unintentionally make the match "Being the Stinger" match? Which is the prototype of "Being John Cena title"!
  21. So, we'll call it a draw? Either way, it would very likely get ugly.
  22. DX had sub-machine guns (not to be confused with Sex Machine Gun) tho! And a tank. It could have gotten pretty ugly. Or was it a jeep with a (sex) Machine Gun. An armored and armed vehicle of some sort, any way! Not pretty!
  23. Yeah, one save rule works fine in a tournament setting, but in a title matches it obviously favors the champions, as they would retain even on a DQ. Not in AJPW later on, since there were no DQ endings, but in US in general. If the rule was more specific and it would constitute a forefeit or a ref stoppage and the titles would change hands, then it would really keep people in their corners, holding on to the tag ropes. But that would be hard to enforce and would be conveniently forgotten or overlooked every time the booking would call for it, so I guess that's a moot point. Not a hot take, just a regular observation.
  24. Yeah, I've heard about that and was thinking that this was exactly what was going on here, even if I wished otherwise. Thanks for the confirmation.
