  1. Oh, I hadn't heard that one before! Jericho sure took that advice to heart, didn't he? A guy I briefly worked with a bunch of years back had been given advice that in order to put on weight, one had to mix a whole pack of vanilla ice cream into his protein shake. He told me he had tried it and sure did the trick. So beer and ice cream, solid life choices in one is to bulk up and I guess have fun doing it? Being on a clean bulk can be really a chore, if you don't enjoy eating a whole bunch of relatively bland food!
  2. Yeah, like the two Hart Foundation matches I mentioned. The Rougeau Bros match was a non title match and it was actually emphasized that they were the NEW tag team champions. Next week, they air the Strike Force match, which was a title change! If I remember correctly the Harts' first reign was like 10 months long, so something REALLY doesn't add up there!
  3. Max Von Sydow as Ming in that Flash Gordon movie?
  4. I started randomly watching some '87 Prime Time episodes (well, matches from episodes) and am shocked at the amount of feature matches per episode, compared to '89 (which is still better than what '92-'93 Superstars, for example, offered). I saw Hart Foundation vs Strike Force and vs Rougeaus, Demolition vs Islanders, Strike Force vs Islanders and Islanders vs British Bulldogs (well, that was mostly the dognapping of Matilda angle, more than a match) in a span of a few episodes. Some of the featured singles matches are such that I won't go there sober (Outback Jack, Killer Khan, JYD and Nikolai Volkoff among others featured), but this coinscides with the exact time when I first became a wrestling fan, I think I have to sit through these at some point. Side note: I do vaguely remember hearing an instrumental version of Demolition's theme during some of their early entrances. This was when Darsow had already become Smash, but they weren't accompanied by Mr Fuji yet (nor Johnny Valiant anymore). Well, here it was and I think it suited the heels better. Face Demolition was infinitely better with the theme with lyrics, however.
  5. Yeah, Ford looks 6'4" when in the ring with Viking Raiders, but not so much with some others. If Thatcher is in fact really 6'1" 220ish lbs, then there is not much chance that Damian Priest is 6'5" 247lbs (or what ever they say he is) or anywhere close to that, in reality. Oh, and just a tidbit on Koko, when he got that hairdo in that photo, Gorilla mentioned on Prime Time, that Koko also put on something like 30( or was it 20) additional pounds and yet he was announced at 228lbs, like always.
  6. Yeah, I think he said as much in his book. I would be very interested in some stats if they were available. It would be nice to compare the actual sizes of athletes from the 80's, 90's, '00's and beyond, to see how they stack up? I mean, wrestlers are smaller now overall, but are they really as much smaller than one would think? I mean, Koko B. Ware was always billed at 228lbs in the WWF. If you put a guy from today who they say weighs the same next to him in his prime, how much difference would there be between them? These things, for some reason, have always been interesting to me.
  7. Yeah, well I'm 5'8" 185 lbs, so he's a huge guy to me! I'm very curious as to how much (in general ) do they still kayfabe guys weights and heights these day? It's hard to tell, unless it's something ridiculous like what they say about Adam Cole! Even that, I only know they lie "a lot" ,but have no real idea how much that is? Did some calculations, and apparently I'm not 5'8", but rather under 5'7", but 185 lbs is currently accurate, the point stands even more, that a 6'1" person seems very tall to me.
  8. @Hayabusa mentioned having a birthday this week (if I'm not mistaken) but didn't elaborate on the actual day! So when ever it actually is/was: Congrats!
  9. Yeah, and maybe Halloween Havoc 1997, too? With Eddy-Rey and Hogan-Piper cage match? Take your pick which you consider which.
  10. Man, my body doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. Leg day yesterday went awry, with a bunch of back spasms during and after trapbar deadlift and I'm still feeling it now. Well, didn't stop me from going nuts on the squat machine, however. Loading it up to 240lbs and two sets of resistance bands and went to town on my thighs and calves. Plenty of stretching during the work day afterwards helped the legs quite a bit, but the back (not lower back, more like the middle) is still bothering me. Well, upper body work out today, with Cobra Kai soundtrack blasting, back pain ( well, pain is a bit strong word to describe this) or not!
  11. Well, not everyone can claim to have that, street or no street! Speaking of... A local politician and a police chief who passed on a few years back has TWO streets named after him just a couple of streets away from where I live. The streets were named after him well within his lifetime. He must have lived around here at one point, because it would be rather puzzling otherwise.
  12. Some thoughts on this week's show: Shotzi and Io brought it to surprise of no one, ever! Great effort by both, nasty suplexes! Cattle Mutilation!!! And an escape from it, too! Actually, the name of the move is offensive to bovine and gross ( as Daniel Bryan has pointed out), so let's call it something more logical, shall we? Like, "Lumber Jack", that's not taken, is it? The match ending moonsault was nasty, but if you were really trying to beat your opponent, THAT is the way to hit it, with knees to the stomach. Nice show of respect, after the match. Ciampa with another quick win, Desmond Troy didn't stand a chance. Ooh, someone's looking for another ass kicking, let's see how that goes? Your funeral, Atlas! Theory open challenge didn't go too well for him (surprise surprise), but he kept selling the arm really well through, so there is that! Kushida showing plenty of intensity since showing back up! Candice whining about Tegan, the last weeks dinner-turned-fiasco, and the TV was funny. Johnny, goddammit, you can't order the most expensive kind of TV and send Nox the bill, if the TV was some obsolete piece of junk to begin with, you dick! Nevermind WHO actually broke it! Nox's rebuttal was better. I feel like they are going to eliminate each other from the battle royal next week. Breezango vs Imperium was a hell of a match and the ending spot was really good! A bit surprised by the successful title defense, but that's great for the former Fashion Police! Yay! Kacy wins! About time! Really swank tag team moves by Kacy and Kayden! Xia Li heel turn coming up? Well, it may do her good, let's see how that comes about. I was going to say that it seems like Dain-Maverick story just skipped an entire chapter, but no, actually it didn't! Ok, this time, Dain cold-cocking (maybe I should have just said knocking out) Maverick was actually funny, as Drake got a bit too excited! Hey, Kyle O'Reilly still has a conscience! Now, Ciampa vs O'Reilly one on one should be really something! Hey, another multi-man elimination match for the #1 contendership. Oh, the Finn promo earlier in the evening was bad ass! His character has been so much better in every way since coming back to NXT. No idea who will be the one facing him, at this point, though. That could be a good thing, however. Surprise for me next week, then. I'd be shocked if Rhea and Gonzales aren't the last two in the ring in next week's battle royal! Thatcher's a huge guy! There was no way Priest could play the big man against him. Priest DID change up his game plan a little bit, and it worked out really well for him! Intense match, very convincing win for Priest, but this didn't do any favors to Thatcher. I wonder what's next for him. Overall, good show, nothing amazing, but very entertaining nonetheless.
  13. That's some hardcore multitasking right there!
  14. Yup, but then again, super good times to look for a new job are few and far between, anyway! But yeah.
  15. This is most likely a really good idea. I have not been on social media, I have no accounts for anything other than this board and I already spend an unhealthy amount of time here as is. There's no way I could even handle the more modern and invasive forms of social media. Since I don't have children I haven't needed to get accounts to keep tabs on the offspring, so I have managed decently without them thus far.
  16. Oh my... That would probably have been the first time he made the Dark Order dissappear! (BTW, he's apparently been saying all that talk was for a wrestling angle, so again he's going with "it wasn't me"/"just kidding "-defense ).
  17. I see. Well, then I get the reasoning behind it, but still, not very appropriate thing to say. So, I guess it's either wait it out, see what happens or start exploring other career options, then?
  18. You got that right! Even once the pandemic finally subsides, it remains to be seen how Brexit and covid aftermath will affect traveling in general, so it may be a while yet before I taste the real thing again. But I'm sure it will be all the more rewarding once I do!
  19. I'm stoked for the return of NXT UK, but the real story here is those fish & chips, man! Didn't get to go to Edinburgh this year, for obvious reasons, so I'll be missing out on those for who knows how long? The Finnish attempts at that simply aren't the same, for whatever reason!
  20. Yeah, Savage and Piper DID come to Hogan's aid when The Undertaker was attacking him prior to Survivor Series'91, but there was always a certain uneasiness between them (both real and kayfabe, I guess). If you don't consider the real life mess between them, the story-line uneasiness is actually kinda nice touch, as they could never truly trust each other again, even when fighting common enemies (in WCW, mostly).
  21. Either way, that is really messed up. Do you mind telling what kind of work you do, at the moment? Not that it should matter, but anyway?
  22. Season 2 off to an amazing start! That slime-ball Kreese had me going with the apology, but he was still just trying to find Johnny's weakness, as always! And with that the fun times at Cobra Kai dojo are over, just like that. There's so much daddy issues going on in this show, I don't even know where to begin. Difference in training methods between the dojo's is rather striking, as well! I mean, it always was, but still! But judging by the montage, both methods seem to be working, so that's great! Need to check if any of this soundtrack is on Spotify, I could totally use most of this on one of my Gym -playlist! ...OMG, Johnny discovering the internet! All the wins, ever!!!
  23. Oh, maybe that's why Mia Yim and Dijakovic jumped Keith Lee, they don't have a clue that THEY are in Retribution, either! If that's how THAT works. .. the dinners will be awkward from now on at their house either way.
  24. Going back to 7,5 miles on bike is a leg day, I'll share with you the dialogue me and my body seem to be having : Me: I ride the bike to work 5 days a week, my thighs should be growing based on that alone! Body: Yeah, but you've been doing that for more than a decade now, I'm used to it, Bro! Me: But volume training. .. Body: You are doing Cardio! That's what you do before and after the actual work out, you're not fooling me! I have NO intention of giving any signals for your legs to grow, in fact, I feel like doing the exact opposite! Me: No, you can't just. .. Body: What? The legs are the first to go when you get to a certain age, you know! Me: But the dangers of over training. .. Body: C'mon! You haven't done a heavy squat since I don't remember when and heavy front squats like never! Do a bunch of heavy front squats and get back to me! Me: You should very well know that I don't have the core strength to do that! Body: Well, boo-hoo, then! Have fun with your old-man legs, then! In stone age and up to like 19th century, your ass would be dead from natural causes by now, so you're welcome! Me: Fuck you! I hate you! Body: Shut up and squat you wimp! Do yoga, if you need more core strength! Do I have to think of everything? And so on. .. leg day tomorrow, can't wait!
